Great episode !!! I have been following Aravind’s journey for over 2 years and I sure he will go places. Kudos to his vision and the amazing product born out of it
Nice podcast. Arvind has great thought process and vision. Perplexity is the company to watch out for. Btw, Silicon valley biggies are also invested in. I hope Arvind will inspire our youngsters to work hard and come out with great products...
Perplexity pushes popularization of mainstream viewpoints in science can indeed minimize the exposure to divergent viewpoints, which may be detrimental to the open-mindedness and humility required in the pursuit of truth. In the context of science, the selection and emphasis of certain viewpoints over others can lead to a skewed understanding of scientific debates and may hinder the advancement of knowledge.
Arav Srinivas: - Work super hard, & change your attitude early on toward your life, and increase the surface area of your life by giving yourself more shots! - Intellectual Honesty is a must. - Patrick calls for an argument that no matter how good you are or how bad you are, you're not going to make a big dent difference, for the future like companies mostly run by PMs and VPs, and whatever they want is decided by the board & CEOs and those are what matters but it's very different from a startup ecosystem and if you want to truly measure up if you want to see if you're capable of something harder, the best way to do that is to come to a startup and like, you know, jump into the water and see how you can swim, but then that argument works, work with people who are excited about challenges and not motivated by money.
Great episode! Fun observation: I just installed the Perplexity iOS app on my phone. They let you choose the app icon design on home screen from a list of options. Never seen this before😅
Enjoyed this a lot. Excellent questions and discussion from Aarthi & Sriram. Huge fan of Aravind & Perplexity after this. Aravind had great insights into the startup landscape & startup organizational structure/process. I especially enjoyed the insights into openai vs deepmind circa 2019 as well as how he selects talent at Perplexity.
👍🙏He is doing as same as elon musk and top business leader in starting because I research on elon, mark (FB) they did same (adaptive future technology and work on it. 🙏👏
Great questions and content. Enjoyed the interview. Just a suggestion. Sriram needs to slow down and take down the accent. It just compromises clarity of speech. Good podcast overall.
The reality is, nowhere else in the world could you receive investment and actively not focus on getting to profitability. That simply doesnt happen in europe, africa or asia. Investors expect profits within 24 months or at least a clear plan. The fact Figma was funded for a decade without ever having a profit is insane.

Perplexity is a one hit wonder. Aravind Srinivas is a pretty cool dude so he'll do well but the search engine is dead. Mark my words and let's see if it goes anywhere in 3 years by 2027.
I will watch this but will hold my judgement of him. If you notice the Indian born Parag Agawal, Sundhir of Google, Adobe’s chairman and Microsoft’s Nadella all are very smart people but came to the US and made hundreds of millions but have very little knowledge or respect for our constitution and it’s rich history. Many of them particularly over the pandemic and over the 2020 riots made decisions that crossed the line into censorship and made ignorant comments of the individual rights and the first amendment. I would hope that they would love the nation that gave them generational wealth.
After I raised up to 125k trading with Elizabeth Graney I bought a new House and a car here in the states also paid for my son's surgery Glory to God shalom.
After you live in US for more than 6-7 years, your accent automatically becomes like that. Arvind isn't faking his accent as you are thinking it of to be.
When is this PR stunt going to be over Arvind? Use some of that free printed money to build something useful instead of just running PR campaigns. Shame to tamilians worldwide.
This is hands down the most revealing and honest conversation I’ve ever seen from a CEO.
Thank you!

I could listen to Aravind all day. His intelligence, his humility, his vision. I admire him and see a bright future for any company he starts.
I have to compliment the long-walk (40 minutes) to Perplexity talk, it really shows an underlying sophistication in this shows podcast planning.
in this entire podcast, I carry that statement " work like hell 👽".
okk gai sensie
Its amazing the level of clarity that he has and how clearly he is able to articulate his thoughts.
Great conversation Aarthi & Sriram and best wishes to Aravind!
Electrical engineering is great prep for Machine Learning, my brother did EE from Princeton and now works at Perplexity lol….
How so any correlation? (Context: i start my engineering this ay)
dynamical systems + systems based thinking + control theory + signal processing @@unnavsharma6439

So much better than Google when you are looking for an answer. Anything which minimizes the time of search will be the best tool
Nice to know about Aravind earlier life. I'm also starting from python 😊
her point about meeting is so spot on. great insight. it's become about the process than result.
Keep having these conversations guys. Inspiring to see regular people succeed at the highest level!
Yeah a regular person with IIT btech degree, PhD at Berkley, ex-googler, ex-openAI 😅
