I’m going to guess that while god was trying to create things and Amara repeatedly destroyed them, he made the Leviathan’s. Amara might have killed some of them but soon realised they were too icky and weird so she left them alone, hence the leviathan blossom being around for the spell to seal her away, then god created the Archangels to fight Amara. After she was sealed away he locked the Leviathan’s in purgatory, it’s how my brain tries to make sense of the muddled mess the timeline became in later seasons

From the way you describe how the leviathans can essentially rewrite a person's DNA and essentially become that person through something as simple as physical contact, not to mention how they seem to be able to pull themselves back together even after they've been decapitated, kind of brings to mind the monster from the movie the Thing. I should also mention that it's possible that the fact that the leviathans are known for their ravenous and insatiable hunger may come from the idea that, in popular demonology, the Leviathan is said to be the Demon Prince of gluttony.

Lucifer, on the other hand, DID commit a crime. Thus, the Leviathans were put in a glorified nature reserve, while Lucifer was actively imprisoned.

@@MrSkeleton16"Cains seal was placed on him by god knowing but not telling him that it would corrupt" but DID god know? there is a more powerful god level entity involved in Amara, i think the seal god made was good, the corruption came from Amaras fury leaching through the seal as she was trying to find a way out, god may have known afterwards but by then it was to late.
@@TheBadweasel1975is it Amara doing the corrupting with the Mark of Cain tho? I think it's God betrayal of his sibling that creates the curse. With the mark Lucifer turns on heaven and the other archangels (his siblings) and Cain famously commits the first murder by killing his brother.
I don’t think the leviathan possesses people, I think what is happening is that they eat the person on a cellular level and replaces the cell with themselves so they can take human form
Random theory I just had. In the source material, Leviathan wasn't the only monster. It's accompanied by the Behemoth and the Ziz. Perhaps behemoths are the "ideal prey" species, perfectly adaptable, keeping the Leviathan in check. Perhaps Eve and that other lady are also behemoths, or ziz, meant to watch over them. Related, but not quite, hence the comments Leviathan had about her.
In the source the leviathan was created as a powerful water creature that only God could tame or destroy. The psalmist mentions that God does kill leviathan and feeds it to the people in the wilderness. Funny how in supernatural, leviathans eat humans and "god" writes instruction on how to kill them.
I always sorta figured that the bone they enchanted with the blood either sucked all the Leviathans into purgatory again or that since they were supposedly linked or part of Dick, when he was vanquished and thus sent back to purgatory, because that's where all the monsters born of eve who die on earth go, so all of the Leviathans were taken back to purgatory. But we know there are a lot of eldritch things in there, because the lady who taught them the spell to open the door was from purgatory, was immortal, wasn't any kind of monster we'd seen before, and wasn't a leviathan either. -shrugs-
Well it is stated that amara would destroy the things chuck would create before ceiling her away so potentially one of those things was the leviathans the very thing chuck would use to lock her away The retcon during S15 where they all seem to be very indifferent towards eve now they seemed to work for her given that comment
I’d like to hear you elaborate on the fact that they can eat themselves. Do they die then? How is it even possible to eat all of yourself? Why is it a form of punishment above any other? Does their mouth eats… itself at the end?
Punishment since it must be hurt, because other than dishsoap the one thing that can hurt the leviathans are themself. How can they eat themself fully? We don't know 😂, maybe they eat the rest of the thing idk.
Billie said Chuck poured much of his power into creation, so my guess is that part of his power he used to trap the Darkness was transferred to the ingredients in the show for the spell. And Michael would know that since he knew a lot about how Chuck made everything and how it all worked.
It seems while demons might be opposite of angels. Leviathan are the opposite of human/hunters And despite what people say . I enjoyed s7 because it simple hand to hand stuff . A monster season with no angels or demons
Leviathans are not the opposite of humans, they just simply "predator", the top of the food chain, the smartest, every creature are beneath them. Well the more i explain the more they are similar to human but just on bigger scale 😂
Late to the game but the way i saw levi’s were like the first “humans” he made and then he set them free until he got bored and made the angels and then later Eve. When he made Eve and saw that she could create like him (new life) he favored her and cast down the leviathans until he would realize they would throw off the balance of the world he and eve would make until God probably got bored with experimenting with eve and went on to make humans be the way they are now rather than having some supernatural power and instead (chuck’s) ability to create
Man I never knew the lore of this show went that deep and I’m already starting to love it! 😍 The history and the abilities of the Leviathans alone is some very good stuff. Keep going! I wanna learn more! 👍😁👍
While that is a good theory, the archfiend most commonly assigned to the role of Demon Prince of Gluttony is Beelzebub, not Leviathan. Instead, Leviathan is usually associated with envy. I think the most popular medieval demonology grimoires list the seven Demon Princes of Hell as such: Wrath: Satan Greed: Mammon Lust: Asmodeus Envy: Leviathan Sloth: Belphegor Pride: Lucifer Gluttony: Beelzebub I find it weird how Satan and Lucifer are listed as separate entities. Beelzebub has also often been used as another name for Satan, as has Asmodeus in some cases I think. It's weird to think of Lucifer and Satan as two entirely distinct individuals rather than two names (or a name given when he was created as an angel and a title he earned as "the accuser", the lord of Hell) for the same person. If they are separate, would Satan just be a different fallen angel? And isn't Satan the one in charge of them all? It kind of muddles the mythology a bit if you ask me. I would prefer a list more like this: Wrath: Behemoth Greed: Mammon Envy: Leviathan Sloth: Belphegor Pride: Paimon Gluttony: Beelzebub Lust: Asmodeus Thus leaving most of it the same but removing Lucifer and Satan (cuz they should be the same guy and should be Lord of Hell, above the seven Demon Princes) and balancing out the sea serpent Leviathan with its land-based counterpart, Behemoth. I love the names of demons, they're always so cool, it's hard to pick from amongst them. I think "Asmodeus" and "Astaroth" are my favorite. Astaroth actually comes from the name of a Canaanite goddess I think, "Asherah" or "Astarte". Pretty sure Asherah was the original consort of Yahweh (or perhaps El) in the Canaanite pantheon, the polytheistic religion which the Abrahamic religions branched off from via a monolatristic cult that would go on to become Judaism. Monolatry, also known as "henotheism", is the practice of worshipping one patron deity and eschewing the worship of other deities whilst still acknowledging the legitimate divinity of other gods and goddesses.
I like to think that the borax thing was linked to it being anti bacterial and anti fungal which works both with them being diseases and also many higher being viewing them as more or less bacteria on the skin of the planet
Major edits so it makes sense It’s my head cannon that leviathan have a “true form” similar to those of angels that is a camouflaged by their goo. This disguise is so dense that it “leaks” into our perception. Leviathan true form would be comparable to an angel’s.

@@codydryer-xo4zsyes, but to be fair, most "regular" bad guys from the later seasons can kill angels... Either because everyone has an angel blade or they're just extremly strong
@@marmelade8331 true, good point. But I’m talking about that they were able to kill them with extreme ease without the use of a supernatural weapon. Just with their bare hands. It makes absolute sense that an archangel can effortlessly destroy angels because they are primordial, cosmic beings who are second toGod himself in power but angels had far more powers and abilities than Levaithans and were monsters. They shouldn’t of made them powerful enough to kill angels.
really apreciated ur video, man. That always bugged me too. Here's my logic: background *we take Death's word that Leviathans predates angels (yes, this includes archangels) *so, Darkness was still around *and God has the urge for creation and we can suggest he already created inanimate stuff (at max unconscious lifeforms) ---- with this we can imagine God was aiming bigger, wanting to create what you said about beings able to create, free to think, etc. But God already got the idea of what he wanted (the souls), but the game goes down like this: 1) God starts the creation of this being 2) Darkness wants to be involved too 3) God let her 4) They create the leviathans 5) Darkness is satisfied, but God is unsatisfied with the results, they were too hungry beasts (needing destruction AKA dark creatures). Basically, his idea got poisoned (term even used by Death). 6) God then creates purgatory "so leviathans can have their space", but that is just a floppy excuse, because he needs the help of Darkness to destroy them, and he can't exactly say he hates her part of the creatures. ---- That's about it, this could even explain how God got the idea to take Darkness out of the game, but let's be honest, just fan fiction here. We spent hours trying to make sense of something a writer did in minutes in an acid trip. (still fun btw, love to hear some theories). We really need some spin-off official material to be satisfied (good ones ofc)
No Death even stated “Before there was light, God and the archangels, there was the Darkness” the archangels definitely predate the Leviathans. Even God stated that there were “the stuff of promirdial creation” archangels predate Leviathans.
can someone do a mega compilation of everytime a character is seemingly about to die, but the monster is then stabbed in the back or killed from behind by another character? Its gotta be in the hundreds
Personally I think that the writer was just winging it after the storys real ending of season 5 and the next 2 or 3 seasons was him buying time to start the next storyline which is why its all kinda cobbled together
There are certain words that are indicative of immense size. Giants, Titans, Behemoths, Colossus, leviathan, etc. It’s always disappointing when these supposedly huge monsters are artistically portrayed as being human-sized or even human looking. I understand budget constraints, but at the same time, a leviathan should be a kaiju IMO.
An interesting thing to not may be that the philosophical leviathan (from thomas hobbes) is a "ruler" more or less made up of all the people he rules over. In this case, every leviathan dying/getting sent to purgatory as soon as Dick dies might make more sense: the leader is gone and the construct of the "leviathan" therefrore no longer exists, aka it simply cannot work without a leader because then it wouldn't be a leviathan anymore.
Actually they were wiped out. When we see Purgatory it presented as the afterlife for monsters. This implies they were all actually killed. If a simple vampire can come back, then what could a Leviathan do? Remember that vampires in Supernatural aren't pre se undead or immortal, just hard to kill.
I didn't really care for the Leviathans. Eve "Mother Of All" was way way cooler & she had more abilities. They killed her off way way to fast. The Retcon is season 15 messed Laviathan's up even more. They called Eve their mother, when she was a cousin, like a bast*rd off shoot of some sort. You see this a lot, monster cousins. Like werewolf, shapeshifters, skinwalkers .... etc Their all monster cousins. Now suddenly Eve's their mother????? OK???? Also they were pissed Cas killed her Alphas & her Leviathans, like suddenly Alpha's are somehow equal to Levis???
I kinda thought. Now think about it: I think when God was creating stuff, maybe she did too, but her creation were always killing his or something went wrong like she said and that's when he decided to lock her up so it makes sense that her creation could be as old as they could be the old ones or whatever call'em.
The Bible does mention a creature called leviathan, there’s a lot of speculation of wether leviathan is the devil, a dragon, or something else but it appears several times in the Bible
actually they are mentioned in the Hebrew bible alongside the Behemoth and Zhu. like most things in the series, Supernatural drew from real life supernatural based entities
the Leviathan could be children of Cthulu, despite being a creation of Chuck. I mean, why else include Eldritch lore into the Leviathans' introduction?
@Soron66 Eldrich means "Ancient magic" not Cthulu or Lovecraft. It's a descriptive word, not a name or classification. Angels from the Bible are eldrich beings, just like fallen angels and demons.
My personal headcannon for why Chuck made the leviathans. He was trying to figure out if his sister could ever be freed by making something akin to her. Only to find that they started overwhelming the entire creation, thus having to be locked away just like his sister.
The reason humanity was so creative, is their lack of any other profound ability to rely on. We have no claws, wings, fins, scales, thick scales, extrordinary strength/speed etc. But we are social creatures in the name of survival and survival inspires creativity. Apex predators like the leviathans don't have the same spark of desperation that would inspire innovation. Compare them to lions for example. They didn't need to evolve, because they possess every tool they need.
Only thing I came up with was that maybe killing Dick that way had a cut the head from the snake kind of effect. Like in some species hives can't survive if an heirless queen dies. Idk, the method did send them to purgatory with him though so maybe it had other unknown or untested side effects?
"An eyeless sharptoothed pacman" never had a way to explain what leviathins looks like... So thank you for that 😂😂😂 also ima bing all your videos your dope asf
It's interesting that the flowers look like Alien xenomorph eggs that are open. Then there's black goo. Not sure what came first but it reminds me of Prometheus.
chuck also said that the reason he put amera away was because she kept destroying everything he created. and she even admitted to that. so they came from the old worlds that she destroyed
Did anyone else ever notice that the guy who plays benny also played another vampire in an earlier season? its the episode where Sam and dean meet Gordon walker
ive never seen supernatural.. but from the info presented. the lev blossoms the likely a collection system. collecting the spent remains of lev so they can be reborn/recreated.. but also bind them .. a self locking cage which ensures its existence .
9:55 I suspect it was to scare them into staying put. After all, it's the only place they were basically, immortal or at least where they would respawn. Lol
You forget Borax is common now but, likely wasn't common back when they were created Also, the bone was only required to kill the Alpha Leviathan and after that it's said that the rest are hard to kill but, not impossible implying their immortality on Earth was tied to their Alpha.
I liked the borax thing for the leviathans, it's not the first time a seemingly common chemical is a creatures' weakness, you know? Demons and bad spirits are warded off with salt, and smell of sulfur themselves.
My thoughts were the leviathans were some sort of lamprey esque species, and fresh water leeches and creatures will have a sensitivity to salinity, sodium. A sodium based cleaner actually makes a little sense. But they supposedly lived in oceans before humanity so I really don’t know.
My perspective of the timeline of leviathan creation is this chuck created the archangels to fight Amara and once that was done and he could create things he decided that he wanted to do something different than the archangels and created the leviathans eventually chuck decided that they were too dangerous and made purgatory after that he got around to creating everything else including the regular angels
It's also weird because Castiel made it sound like humans evolved like evolution and where not fully formed. So it stands to all reason that the levithans just kept evolving in ways chuck did not predict
God I hate that supernatural has every monster just be a human with something else going on for it. I wish they put a little bit more effort into mythology and character design. Like in the winchesters they have a full form rougarou guarding a crypt. It didn't have to be so common, but just like, every now and again, pour a little extra into some practical effects.
Ngl, I misunderstood the title and thought this was a video about Leviathan the Tempest. What I find most funny about this misunderstanding, is that Supernatural’s Leviathans are sort of a…I don’t want to say *diet* version, but “alternative take” on the same formula. Complete with Lovecraftian overtones.
I guess God first draft of the first creature to walk out of the water ran into some problems. And I can understand his reason for just banishing them instead of wiping them out. I still keep some of my old stuff out of nostalgia.
This was really interesting, i think that's what frustrates me, the Leviathans could have been done so much better. I always hated them personally because they started off interesting then kind of just became a bit of a joke, season 7 was probably my least favourite, just because it felt like such a strange 'filler season' in terms of deviating from the main, angels and demons, Lucifer, heaven and hell storyline, particularly with there then supposedly being a whole year between series 7 and 8. In my head I just kind of retcon it that Sam having hallucinations of lucifer happened in the second half of series 6 once he got his soul back and then Dean got sucked into purgatory at the end of series 6 when they opened it and then we just skipped to series 8. There were certain elements of series 7 that I liked, if you somehow move those important things like meeting Kevin and Charlie and Bobby's death in to series 6 or 8 instead somehow, then you don't really need series 7, I just feel like there were so many episodes that didn't really mention the leviathans anyway that you can move to other series. The overall evil plot of the Leviathans was kind of interesting, but still pretty unrelated to the rest of the overarching plot of the series as a whole and why couldn't it just have been a plot by the Vampires for example? I don't think we really needed to overcomplicate things by introducing this whole other creature which then didn't really work because it wasn't explained or developed properly, if they had included more law or somehow related it to the overall plot of the show then it could have worked, personally I would far rather have seen a whole season of Dean in purgatory, battling the leviathans there instead and old foes like Gordon who I assume is also there since he became a vamp before he died and maybe bonding with his daughter Emma (since I presume she's there in the same place).
To me the questions about the leviathans. Can be kind of answered. By not trusting anything that chuck or the angels say. What I would ask is are the leviathans and the empty related. Both are powerful and both are black goo.
Real quick before I watch- just want to say this was always a pain point to me when it comes to Supernatural. The fact that the leviathan is some weird group of evil creatures instead of a gigantic hellmouth demon turns me off. Especially being on the tailend of an escalating narrative that starts with monsters of the week, ramping up into demon territory and then even into angel/arch angel stuff too. It was just a womp womp transition in the story for me. Let's see if your insight here helps me appreciate it a bit more!
They should make a whole show like the winchesters show talking about the 5 years between the defeat of chuck and the series finale since jared confirmed it has been 5 years between and maybe they should explore the monster apocalypse. And the producers should have at least little bit higher budget .maybe they put it on hbo or whatever and they should explore what happend to leviathans ..etc
I think that the darkness destroyed all of Chuck's creations but not the literal instant. Perhaps Amara was the ones who created the Leviathans. She filled them with the desired to destroy all of Chuck's creations, so thats why he had to create the archangels to get rid of her and then locked up the remaining of the Levi's in purgatory. Edit: Also Death was likely unaware of who the darkness was or intentionally excluded telling that info to Sam and Dean and thats why he said Chuck made them.
@@ahtaystamcauther9376also, Chuck is a liar confirmed, so he could have easily taken the claim of her creations and compelled everyone else to believe it after she was trapped (because she is only meant to be destruction and her being able to create stuff steals his thunder as the “creator”)
Just the fact that they have some plan to rule the world you know, not by destroying everything, but more of a incognito monsters, their season was for me one of the best most interesting Also Archangels >> Dick Roman > Seraphims (Castiel) = Leviathans > Angels > Demons > Normal monsters
In the series, it's stated the other monsters originated from them when eve experimented with them and God stated that he had several creations before trapping his sister. Including making worlds and others.
Other villan's obejectives: controling the world/mass destruction Leviathans: "Welcome to McDonalds! where you can grab everything, cause leviathans conquered us and all the food its now free!...economy its fucked man..."
First off, I just assumed that they were eve's first creations. We don't know how old she is specifically, but given we're outright told the bible is only partially accurate i wouldn't be surprised if she was one of those rare things that were old and powerful enough to give god trouble in a creations fight. This may also explain why they're older than the angels. Second, its stated that god made many worlds before this one, but his sister kept destroying them, so maybe they were from one of those older worlds, and in any other world they're just a tenacious invasive species.
So what would happen if you dropped a severed Leviathan head in a tub of borax or whatever that cleaning chemical that hurts them. Either it'll kill them or itd way worse
I always thought the Leviathans were neat conceptually just not great on the execution front. And I did like how their weakness was discovered on accident, though it being borax was kinda weird.
Idea about the Amara/archangel issue. God was creating stuff before the darkness, Amara kept destroying it, that's why he had to imprison her and create the archangels to help do it. God mightve created the Leviathans before the Archangels, but they were like the one thing Amara didn't want to destroy because they are basically destruction incarnate. One of the reasons God may have created purgatory as their prison rather than just outright destroy them is because they are necessary for fighting Amara. What if even part of their hunger and part of the reason Amara didn't destroy them is because they have a bit of essence of the darkness in them, even if it's just the part you theorize is in Chuck. That also might be way they are so powerful even against angels. Edit: And what if Chuck specifically created them with darkness essence to appease Amara and/or make them a potential weapon against her.
I honestly was big into the leviathan’s story line. Dick was such an a fun villain then they just fumbled the darkness sorry line and chuck as god thing fell flat. Really crowleys death is what made me stop watching finally.
The Levi's were the 1st big bad for the new crew of the show, the 1st ones after Kripke left following Swan Song(Season 5 Finale)... Coz in season 6 they used Cass, Crowley and Raphael(kinda) to bridge the gap till the next big bad and they were all already established characters. I think thats y Season 7 is kinda all over the place and the Levi's werent exactly super fleshed out.(Which made both them and the season not very good.)
Now ive only seen like halfway into season 7, so idk as much, but based off what you've said in videos, heres what I think: God created several things and creatures and his sister the Darkness or Amara, destroyed alot of his creations or most of them, now at first God just created stuff, not much experience, he just made stuff willy nilly, and Amara destroys most of his creations but God creates the Archangels to help battle her, and they lock her away and God still has some creations that Amara didn't destroy immediately or couldn't before he & the Archangels battled her, so yes they predated the angels, and God decided he didn't want them, atleast not for earth, yet he didnt want to destroy them because thats what Amara did, and because they were one of the last creations he had before locking Amara away, so he created Purgatory for them and any other creation he didnt want
You mentioned that Leviathans are like sentient infections, which would explain why borax - a disinfectant, would be their weakness.
And because they are dragons or sharks or whales depending on sources like the bible and Dante 😂

Finally, a channel that goes into more details rather than the surface level. I quite enjoyed it.
I loved the Leviathans.
I mean, I get why people wouldn't, but dammit, they were fun in my opinion.
I agree and it was cool to see monsters on the top of the food chain.
Agreed,especially Chet and Leviathan Cass.
@@roberthvns3392fr leviathan Cas was so amazing 😭
@@Coffee_edits Indeed.
Yes, I am a fan of Dick.
I don’t think the leviathan possesses people, I think what is happening is that they eat the person on a cellular level and replaces the cell with themselves so they can take human form
I kinda got the same idea too it looks less like possession and more like assimilation
Like the THING.
Related, but not quite, hence the comments Leviathan had about her.
usually a theory has a shred of reason, not just random guesses though
-shrugs-
A "sentient infection"....great description
Davy Jones: Leviathans can survive on land longer than me? Oh.....it ain't fair!!!
Well it is stated that amara would destroy the things chuck would create before ceiling her away so potentially one of those things was the leviathans the very thing chuck would use to lock her away
The retcon during S15 where they all seem to be very indifferent towards eve now they seemed to work for her given that comment
Love that line from Dick in that interview "We want you all living longer and tasting better." Lol
Love the leviathans! Wished they showed the swimmer getting possessed and the agent valente. I imagine football players getting possessed too!
Leviathan are the opposite of human/hunters
And despite what people say . I enjoyed s7 because it simple hand to hand stuff . A monster season with no angels or demons
I agree season 7 was a breath of fresh air.
Leviathans are not the opposite of humans, they just simply "predator", the top of the food chain, the smartest, every creature are beneath them. Well the more i explain the more they are similar to human but just on bigger scale 😂
@@zeinzz1906 I agree. Humans eat almost every other animal on the planet just like leviathans so they are the same
Late to the game but the way i saw levi’s were like the first “humans” he made and then he set them free until he got bored and made the angels and then later Eve.
I think the most popular medieval demonology grimoires list the seven Demon Princes of Hell as such:
Wrath: Satan
Greed: Mammon
Lust: Asmodeus
Envy: Leviathan
Sloth: Belphegor
Pride: Lucifer
Gluttony: Beelzebub
I find it weird how Satan and Lucifer are listed as separate entities. I would prefer a list more like this:
Wrath: Behemoth
Greed: Mammon
Envy: Leviathan
Sloth: Belphegor
Pride: Paimon
Gluttony: Beelzebub
Lust: Asmodeus
Thus leaving most of it the same but removing Lucifer and Satan (cuz they should be the same guy and should be Lord of Hell, above the seven Demon Princes) and balancing out the sea serpent Leviathan with its land-based counterpart, Behemoth.
Major edits so it makes sense
It’s my head cannon that leviathan have a “true form” similar to those of angels that is a camouflaged by their goo. This disguise is so dense that it “leaks” into our perception. Leviathan true form would be comparable to an angel’s.
7:30 I'd love a seperate video on souls! I have a few theories on how exactly they work, especially with how a personality is retained in a soulless persons body AND in the soul itself after death, and I'd love to hear your opinion on them!
I truly think that the leviathan were too overpowered. It seems so ridiculous that they can kill regular angels.
They're basically eldritch nightmares. They got locked out of the rest of the universe because they were too good at surviving.
"Everyone are beneath me, even angels are my bitch, nothing can hurts me"
Borax: "Swear on your momma"
really apreciated ur video, man. That always bugged me too. Here's my logic:
background
*we take Death's word that Leviathans predates angels (yes, this includes archangels)
*so, Darkness was still around
*and God has the urge for creation and we can suggest he already created inanimate stuff (at max unconscious lifeforms)
----
with this we can imagine God was aiming bigger, wanting to create what you said about beings able to create, free to think, etc. But God already got the idea of what he wanted (the souls), but the game goes down like this:
1) God starts the creation of this being
2) Darkness wants to be involved too
3) God let her
4) They create the leviathans
5) Darkness is satisfied, but God is unsatisfied with the results, they were too hungry beasts (needing destruction AKA dark creatures). Basically, his idea got poisoned (term even used by Death).
6) God then creates purgatory "so leviathans can have their space", but that is just a floppy excuse, because he needs the help of Darkness to destroy them, and he can't exactly say he hates her part of the creatures.
----
That's about it, this could even explain how God got the idea to take Darkness out of the game, but let's be honest, just fan fiction here. We spent hours trying to make sense of something a writer did in minutes in an acid trip. (still fun btw, love to hear some theories).
We really need some spin-off official material to be satisfied (good ones ofc)
The Leviathans probably predate Raphael and Gabriel but not Michael or Lucifer.
No Death even stated “Before there was light, God and the archangels, there was the Darkness” the archangels definitely predate the Leviathans. Even God stated that there were “the stuff of promirdial creation” archangels predate Leviathans.
Archangels and angels are a different species
can someone do a mega compilation of everytime a character is seemingly about to die, but the monster is then stabbed in the back or killed from behind by another character? Its gotta be in the hundreds
Personally I think that the writer was just winging it after the storys real ending of season 5 and the next 2 or 3 seasons was him buying time to start the next storyline which is why its all kinda cobbled together
I just found this channel... now I'm watching Supernatural again lol.
"Holy Borax" 😂
This is a great channel with a great idea. I'm looking forward to more deep dives on SPN ❤🎉👻
Yeah, especially when they HATED Eve. The Leviathans were like, "you're a 4th rate monster, with a third rate creator."
@@ajdominguez1002 is that a Kaiba reference.
@@keenanjohnson1296 yup lol
I’m just gonna pretend that retcon doesn’t exist and that she’s just in purgatory watching over her children through astral projection.
I kinda thought. Now think about it: I think when God was creating stuff, maybe she did too, but her creation were always killing his or something went wrong like she said and that's when he decided to lock her up so it makes sense that her creation could be as old as they could be the old ones or whatever call'em.
I was kinda hoping this vid would also mention if they actually existed anywhere in the real world lore like most other monsters from Supernatural?
They were all banished to purgatory by God, so there weren't any around.
As someone with allergy to everything with a scent in it. I get a giggle out of ajax, or perfume being cryptonite to a supernatural villian.
Dude I am going to watch every video. Subscribed! Btw I think eve is a mutated leviathan which is why most monsters go to purgatory
My personal headcannon for why Chuck made the leviathans. He was trying to figure out if his sister could ever be freed by making something akin to her. Only to find that they started overwhelming the entire creation, thus having to be locked away just like his sister.
What I find weirdest about them is how Dean never encounters a single one during his year in purgatory, yet in s15 they find one in less than 8h
That reminds me of prometheus and his brother handing out the gifts to animal and man.
2:55 the snazzy black outfit is standard lol
Fun fact: leviathan look is based off Pac-Man but an evil version. That’s why they always hungry and look like that.
Did anyone else ever notice that the guy who plays benny also played another vampire in an earlier season? its the episode where Sam and dean meet Gordon walker
ive never seen supernatural.. but from the info presented. the lev blossoms the likely a collection system. collecting the spent remains of lev so they can be reborn/recreated.. but also bind them .. a self locking cage which ensures its existence
.
never thought I'd hear "holy borax" haha
9:55 I suspect it was to scare them into staying put. After all, it's the only place they were basically, immortal or at least where they would respawn. Lol
You forget Borax is common now but, likely wasn't common back when they were created
Also, the bone was only required to kill the Alpha Leviathan and after that it's said that the rest are hard to kill but, not impossible implying their immortality on Earth was tied to their Alpha.
It seems like wiping the lead levi out sends them ALL to purgatory
@TheSaxAppeal no, there were still leviathan on earth after they took out the head leviathan
I've heard that roaches can be killed by borax.. maybe that's why it was used in SPN? The Levis were basically roaches lol
"It isn't a bug, it's a feature!"
-God, probably.
The plain and simple fact is that supernatural had many inconsistencies for many seasons don’t over complicate things trying to see sense
I like your video but I couldn't find the link you mentioned for the other one on monsters.
5 years? Its way more, Sam raised his son and died in old age
@@darkpartizan I meant five years between ep19 and ep20

Could you send me the source at 0:11?
Wow.. but it's from the show..
Leviathan blossoms sprout where they die and they do kill each other so blossoms could sprout anywhere I’m assuming
Absolutely not, you didn’t watch the show. Chuck created them but didn’t think they would literally start eating each other.
@@ahtaystamcauther9376 It's just a theory bro, chill out.
@@ahtaystamcauther9376also, Chuck is a liar confirmed, so he could have easily taken the claim of her creations and compelled everyone else to believe it after she was trapped (because she is only meant to be destruction and her being able to create stuff steals his thunder as the “creator”)
Just the fact that they have some plan to rule the world you know, not by destroying everything, but more of a incognito monsters, their season was for me one of the best most interesting
Also Archangels >> Dick Roman > Seraphims (Castiel) = Leviathans > Angels > Demons > Normal monsters
In the series, it's stated the other monsters originated from them when eve experimented with them and God stated that he had several creations before trapping his sister. Including making worlds and others.
Other villan's obejectives: controling the world/mass destruction
Leviathans: "Welcome to McDonalds! where you can grab everything, cause leviathans conquered us and all the food its now free!...economy its fucked man..."
Got that wrong the show said whenever he would create something she would destory it so then he created the arch angels to stop her
First off, I just assumed that they were eve's first creations.
I think the obvious meta answer is the writers forgot and nobody cared enough to track of the lore by that point
I always thought the Leviathans were neat conceptually just not great on the execution front. And I did like how their weakness was discovered on accident, though it being borax was kinda weird.
I used to call leviathans cannibalistic shapeshifters
What if you sell your soul and then get turned into a vampire do you go to hell or purgatory
My theory is that the Leviathans were created at the same time as and in order for the creation of the Archangels as a form of ying-yang.
i wish bibbing was more expanded on, very cool yet silly weakness for them to have
Anyone else here after the MamaMax & Spencer drama to figure out what the hell is going on?
I’d love to see a video on the alphas
I believe the Leviathan were around before God, they were what was here first.
You said the flower grows from dead leviatgins then said you dont understand how the time line works because the prison was built later.
They are like Mindflayers front D&D.....VERY similar lifecycle..mindflayers and the black goo from The Alien Franchise
Where is the monster vídeo?
Frankly my favorite monsters are still the shapechangers
Something I always wondered how powerful are the monsters like leviathans in relation to the highest demons ?
Love the unas grabbing the goa'uld there.
Now ive only seen like halfway into season 7, so idk as much, but based off what you've said in videos, heres what I think:
God created several things and creatures and his sister the Darkness or Amara, destroyed alot of his creations or most of them, now at first God just created stuff, not much experience, he just made stuff willy nilly, and Amara destroys most of his creations but God creates the Archangels to help battle her, and they lock her away and God still has some creations that Amara didn't destroy immediately or couldn't before he & the Archangels battled her, so yes they predated the angels, and God decided he didn't want them, atleast not for earth, yet he didnt want to destroy them because thats what Amara did, and because they were one of the last creations he had before locking Amara away, so he created Purgatory for them and any other creation he didnt want
