I have the 25 anniversary edition and I just love them. Soo comfy. I used to wear the nimbus many years ago and since I started back into running I gravitated to them again and I’m happy about it. I’m a slow plodding runner and I’m happy.
I had the Gel-Nimbus 25 and already did a few runs with my Gel-Nimbus 26. What i liked the most about the new version is the stability that works nicely with my overpronation. A bit of change in the middlesole in the heel and a bit raised guardrails made my feet guided to do a proper strike . Now I see no real need to use my GT 2000 12 ( besides being able to run faster) or an interest on buying a Gel-Kayano. The downside of this huge improvement in stability and traction was the reduction of max soft cushioning and the super luxurious upper of the 25th version. And even with my overpronation , I still used my Gel-Nimbus 25 for nearly 450km before donating them... I expect that the 26th will last at least 600km ,when the foam should totally lose the bounce.
Just to complete my post is that I have found that in this year, Asics also made geometry modifications , density updates to the middlesole and also added raised guardrails (versus previous versions) for the Nova Blast 4 and Gel-Cumulus 26 ! If I knew that before I would have bought the NB4 at launch ... now I will wait for the new colors or will just get the Cumulus 26.
@@ronaldhoekstra4484 Everything... Nova is lighter, more breathable upper, more bounce, different midsole foam, different grip. Nova is much more versatile as a running shoe.
I don't favour the overly soft midsoles so might stay away from this one. I prefer the firmer ride of a Brooks Glycerin/Saucony Triumph or even the Asics Novablast. Ran 19k straight out of the box in a new pair of Novablast 3 this morning. Such a good shoe. Will probably pick up the v4 now on your earlier review but I'll have to wait for a sale. Excellent review once again. Thanks. I saw New Balance released a v2 of their 5280 line! Will you be getting these in for testing? I realize they are only meant for short road races/speed workouts but they look good and have the classic NB outsole that I loved in the RC Elite original! I never got the original 5280 but heard it was an excellent shoe for speed workouts on road and track. Looks like a much better shoe than the original Pacer they released last year.
I don't think I'll be getting the 5280...unless NB randomly sent them to me 🤣, but I do have the Rebel v4 waiting for me to test so I am pretty excited about that shoe. Thanks for the comment!
