Family Backpack Trip Down the Rogue River

- Sometimes you just have to get out of the shop, leave the Jeep behind, and hike out to the middle of nowhere :)
In this video, I take my family on an overnight backpack trip down the lower Rogue River, also know as the Wild and Scenic section of the Rogue River. It is a beautiful trail that starts in the Rogue Valley and goes all the way to the Oregon Coast. The full hike is about 40 miles from the Rogue Valley to the coast.
This was just a quick overnight trip, so we just hiked a few miles in. We started at Graves Creek and hiked just past Whiskey Creek to set up for the night. There is an old miners cabin at Whiskey Creek which is always fun to explore.
The scenery on the trail is epic! Beautiful views of the river, creeks and waterfalls, which make this and absolutely amazing hike.

The old miner's camp was really cool! I see stuff like that on hikes out here too in CO.
Yeah, the miners camp is really cool, although my kids say they wouldn't want to live out there. Haha!
Thank you so much for this video, which gave me good memories back in 1995. Then my friend, brother and I, made a long drive, through the United States. And of course Oregon and a trip to the Old Whiskey Creek cabin/mine. I also get fever for the first time, gold fever ;)
I found gold for the first time, and the fever has not diminished over the years. My four children(4-8-10 and 14) have also been infected with gold fever. And love to go out into the woods or, most preferably, to a river :)
