You're living the dream. I am too, I love one nighters, one weekers, one monthers, whatever. Retirement is a blessing, free to come and go whenever I like. Motorbikes are a great hobby and touring is a great way to see the World at first hand, as it really is. You meet a lot of people and see a lot of scenery on a motorbike, it's great.
I enjoyed your overnight trip near the Rogue River I used to live in Southern Oregon Grants Pass area , I'm taking a one nighter this weekend gonna go Demo the new Zero DSR X adventure bike , thanks for laying your gear out on the table that'll help me pack up my BMW 21 F 750 GS today . Looks like I'm supposed to have good weather for my trip . A lot of busy freeway though. I had some nice clear water lights put on and highway pegs sure help . I love them. Safe travels to you.
Thank you Sir ! I just signed the final papers on my 2022 T7 (@60+). I was starting to have some anxiety over my decision to ride again, sold my Road King. Then I found your channel and I’m re-energized and excited!! Thank you SO much for that! Happy Trails and keep the shiny side up !!
Hi, I'm a 61yo rider🏍 from Turkey, well when I said that solo camping is hard at this age, I came across your videos and you inspired me, anything is possible as long as health allows, also your videos was very peaceful to me, your motorcycle is handsome and strong, I will continue to watch your adventures, especially solo camps, I wish you success and safe driving.)✌

Excellent video, l throughly enjoyed it. Im 65 and wanna do this. I was stationed in Bremerton Wa once when in the Navy. I drove down to Crater Lake. Oregon is beautiful.
Another great video, sir, I do appreciate all the effort it takes to make these, not to mention the tidbits of information gleaned from the interesting stops along the way! Thank you, and ride safe!
Awesome Video. I haven't really seen any video that show 1 or 2 day camping trips on motorcycles. This gives me some ideas. Thankyou for making great video!
I really enjoy your videos. Maybe it's my age (59) but it proves that you don't have to be blasting the rpms, doing wheelies, and going over jumps to enjoy yourself or to prove yourself. But if that's what a person likes, then that's cool too. However, when riding 15 years ago, I much preferred taking my time and taking it all in vs high speed low drag. I used to go on group rides, but it was more about trying to keep up than having fun as some in the group were constantly 15 mph over the speed limit. Maybe I'm more cautious these days but being outdoors is so awesome on a bike. Whether it's 300cc or 1,500cc enjoy the ride! Ride on brother, from Northwest Wisconsin!
Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm a new subscriber thanks to youtube algorithm lol. I appreciate how you showed your 1 nighter gear stash. You are inspiring this 57 yr old. Cheers from 🇨🇦
Cool thing about one nighters is it helps you understand what you need/don't need on longer trips. You find out what works and what doesn't. Builds confidence to go on longer trips.
I learned a new word...circuitous. 👍 My girlfriend and I are both 58 years old and we both are hoping to be riding well into our 70's. She rides her own bikes and I hope that it stays that way. Great video, keep up the great work, sir!
I enjoyed the one night trip. I’m also retired. I have a Indian Challenger. I’m thinking of selling it and purchasing an adventure bike. Maybe a Triumph 900 Rally Pro. I like Camping and am setup for overnighters. I look forward to more videos from you.
I rather enjoyed this video. A great traveling adventure video with a motorcycle. I'm 62 now and love the idea of traveling on a bike , I need some adventure in my life. I moved from California to the outskirts of Madrid, Spain. I have had big bikes in the past but now am looking for a small bike to travel with scrambler type basically so I can be on gravel and also be able to ride the paved roads. I want something that's great on gas mileage. Safe riding, and thx for sharing your one nighter my friend.
One nighters are my favorite, I've been doing a bunch of these this summer, helps me sneak in the trip without too much interruption to my week, thanks for sharing, some great tips!
Your channel just showed up in my feed, such a great video! I’ve done day trips and long rides (10 days) but never done one nighters. Starting the plans for my first one nighter!
I once did a three nighter driving from Seattle to Irvine on smaller roads. I really enjoyed the nature in Northern California, the mountains and the coast line. I believe this idea of a one nighter is just great to ride and explore. Equipment and packing wise it doesn't make a big difference compared with a multi week ride. Greetings from a German T7 rider 💙💛🏁🤛🏼
Way to go on the overnighters! I do that and especially long dayers as my wife, a cancer survivor with a lot of scares likes me home at night so she can have any request for winning a hard, scary fight. Up before the sun and gone and back after dark usually unless a special ride she oks. Anyway, good for you in your 70s rolling the back country and doing it your way. I am a BDR guy as well as an explorer in my 60s. I have been all over the US and Canada- except Texas that is on the list. I grew up riding in the bush of Alaska in the mountains so have had plenty of adventures on a DS bike(s). With getting a ADV bike it has just hit the right spot in my riding at the right time. Like you, mostly solo and stop often. Its one of my slight regrets that when younger it was more about the ride than the stop and take it all in. I have now fixed that and love my rides. I was a fire dept medic, a first responder medic, a police field medic in special operations units so I always have a med kit too. You can take care of yourself and others. Now retired I just point it and go on some of the best adventures. So, love your channel my friend, keep rolling, stay safe and maybe see you out there!
Interesting. I have made 3 trips to the USA from Canada on motorcycle. Takes me 2 , 10 hr days driving with little stops and 1 night on a ferry to get to the boarder in Maine. Actually more like 12 hrs and more the first day. Love the trips to Maine , Boston , Mystic Seaport and the best is the White mountains in New Hampshire . You can add a another 6 trips by truck or Van to the white mountains .
I'm 71. Ride a 1200 Super Tenere. Love moto camping. Had a stroke in late August and my health regime would have never, never predicted such a thing. But, life happens. I've had one camping trip which was with friends. Planning on a single one-nighter. Hope that restores me. I think it will. Oh yes, buy yourself a hydro pack. Gives you plenty to drink while riding and for an overnighter more than enough.
As an Australian living in the southern state of Victoria, I understand the pain of residence of towns taken by bush fires. We share a lot in common with the people of northern California in respect to this. But on a happier note, I also love riding MY Tenere 700 in our bush areas and meeting the locals. It’s these simple things which make life an adventure to be cherished. Cheers from down under🇦🇺🇦🇺
Inspiring. I just returned from a three-nighter trip around my home state of Wyoming. Like you, I made it a trip about the journey instead of destination. I explored places I've driven by dozens of times without stopping and met people I would never have on hurried destination trips. Cool video. Thanks.
I love solo trip...one or multiple day trips. This summer I traveled rural areas of oregon, washington and Idaho. I figure I put on about 3,000 miles. My wife gets a little worried at times...I'm 70 but with a little technology and common sense, I try to stay in a safe place when camping. And like you, a one day/night trip is good for the soul!
Thank you for this great video. I use to live in Eureka, California and I am currently living in Thailand. I am 75 years old but I am planning to do short trips here in Thailand. I am planning to get a Honda 500x. It was very interesting to see the land and the fire damage. I followed the new every night to see what was happening in Northern California. Thank again for this video and best of luck to you in your future One Nighters.......Sal : )
So I had the little bike in high school. Later I move up to a big bike. A Honda 150 dream ha ha. Last bike a cx 500 . Thinking about a Chinese 250 dual sport . I'm same age as you.
Nicely done, sir! Beautiful area unfortunately ravaged by wildfires. So sad to see the forest destroyed that way. Appreciate your attention to detail on your gear selection.

I just turned 70 last month and sold my BMW r1200 rt and bought a Vstrom. Buying a lighter adventure bike makes it a lot easier. I really like riding solo for the same reason that you do. I ride easy and stop often to see sights and read information signs. If you want a beautiful ride try BC Canada. Amazing back roads
At age 55 while working a 6 month contract in the UK, I hankered to take an intensive motorcycle training course. I rang a training course in Blackpool to enquire. The guy on the phone literally laughed at my enquiry. "Oh, we often get enquiries from old people wanting a mid-life adventure". I was absolutely furious and slammed the phone down. To be honest, I felt shamed. It was probably one of the few times I had both the time and money to do what I'd dreamt of doing for years. Although British, I live in Portugal on the border with Spain. The most beautiful motoring countryside imaginable, on or off road. 8 years later, I so wish I hadn't allowed some ignorant jobs worth to undermine my self confidence. I'd always messed around on motorcycles as a kid and had a lifelong urge to get back on two wheels. Having a young family and a busy white collar job, had somehow always got in the way. And then somehow your life just flows by.
Totally enjoyed the video! Thanks! I’m considering a CB 500x for my adventure bike and i suppose it work out similar to yours. I’m 5’8” 150 and 71 yo and in pretty good shape. Also looking at a Janus 250 scrambler, cool bike. In high school my first bike was a Honda 250 scrambler that i rode up to Mt. Rainier. Fun times! Thanks
I won't lie based on the title and thumbnail I thought this was a video about an older gentleman who loved one night stands late in life 🤣 Very cool channel, loved the video.
I only had one "one nighter" this summer! Wanted 5 nights of camping at least. Well, they are added on the 5 for next year!, come visit the Province of Québec (Canada) if you can. Preferably in the Summer!
Hmm, I’m very interested in the one-nighter thing, but I have a mild disagreement with your opening because it is my experience that it takes basically as much gear for a one- as a multi-nighter. The “base” is the same, unless you plan to ride in late and out early, and thus skip meals and the gear required for them. Failing that, the only difference in load-out (IMO) is less food, water, and clothing for the shorter trip. I take some solace from this since it gives me confidence: if I can do a one-nighter, than I should be able to handle a multi-nighter just fine (haven’t done so yet!). If I’m wrong, I’d be happy to be corrected, because I don’t want to find out the hard way ;-).
Yes, the gear is mostly the same for one night or multi-nights. I didn’t mention in the video that sometimes I stay at a motel or cabin on one nighters and that eliminates my need for all the camping gear.
@@MySeniorMoments I kind of thought of that as the video progressed. Makes perfect sense. It’s actually kind of a pain to pack all the stuff for overnight camping, but it’s a great way to start. Heck I’ve done it within a short radius of where I live just to get out there.

61 years old in Israel. I find that I no longer feel like sleeping in a tent. I still really enjoy riding [KTM 1290 Adv S], but in the last two years I no longer dare to ride off-road alone. I admit - I'm scared: in my last fall I just couldn't pick up the motorcycle myself. I was lucky and I wasn't far from a main road and two guys in a truck stopped to help me.
Great to see an adventure channel from a seniors perspective, from which I do my off pavement adventures. I live in overnighter heaven here in the northern Vancouver Island region. 'm looking for some new waterproof rear panniers, that don't carry the price tag of Moskos. I've seen yours under a couple of brand names. What is the brand you have and how have they been.? Will keep watching, Brent
Nice trip! My rides are the same. If I'm in the saddle more than four or five hours in a day, my butt hurts. Ha! Gotta stop and steep in the mountain essences, read a book. Such a sorrow to see all the fire destruction. The six rivers country will never be the same.
I have a friend who posted a photo of himself posing with his C110 back in the '60s and another of him on the same bike, in the same setting, now at his 70 plus odd years of age.
I’m 50 and just started riding, looking forward to some adventure myself. I just came across your channel and was curious if your wife ever comes on these trips or how you go about integrating her (a non rider a assume) into any of these trips or if they are strictly for your mental well being. I have a feeling my future adventures will be solo, but was just curious how it worked with you. Thanks for sharing and giving me the knowledge that I didn’t start too late in my life (loving the ride so far).
I’m 52 (but been riding all my life since I was 14), and my wife comes with me pillion on my trips. In fact, in 2 weeks we are leaving to Marrocos for a 10 day 5000kms trip on the north of Africa, with 2 more couples our age. It’s important to feel safe in your riding before taking up the responsibility of taking a passenger with you, just my advice. It’s better to take long, multi days trips alone on the bike before. A pilling changes all the bikes dynamics and it’s not a good idea if your planning on going adventure touring off road. Off road it’s a all different situation, low traction environment that demand you’re able to stand on the pegs etc, and a pillion is a bad idea, even worst if you have no experience. My 2 cents: take a couple ou off road courses or try it your self on a small displacement bike (Like a Honda CRF 250/300L or sort of), and gain some experience. There’s nothing to be afraid and it’s amazing once you get the hand of it! Take it slow or else and expect to fall to the ground sometimes. Get good gear, like boots, jacket with good armor, gloves, a good helmet and go for it!
Beautiful overnighter. Even in spite of the burn area. I love those kind of trips. I believe those trees are dying because of the pine beetles out there. They’ll burn pretty quickly. For the locals it’s a real tragedy.
Apart from your abundance of pines and fir trees, along with the fact you drive on the wrong side of the road - a lot of this video could well have been taken in many parts of Australia.
California should import eucalyptus trees from here in Australia. They grow back after a fire.Last time I went camping in the bush on my own I woke up in the nite by a strange load noise, Could have been a yowie [Big foot] as they have been sighted in that area, and some people have disappeared. I get nervous about solo camping now.
What do you think of your Wild Heart side bags? They are cheap on Amazon, and have pretty good reviews there, too. I'm tempted to pick them up - I'd like to start doing overnighters and longer like you've been doing!!
Wild Heart soft panniers from Amazon are good for 1-3 night trips but small for extended travels. Plus no lock or security if traveling in populated areas.
Shoot no appreciation from the wife? She wants you gone longer? You could be in Thailand the North Mountain area with biggest Life Adventure you'll ever see. Leaving your wife at home is the best idea, so many pretty ladies!🙏🙏

Rainier. Fun times! Thanks
Love the Janus 250, only reservation would be too low on power to be practical on roads with traffic..
Nice trip. I love that area. The Salmon River gorge to cecilville or up to etna is a must. Looking fwd to more one nighters. Stay safe, ~GrizzLee
And the Aetna Brewery is a must stop too.
I won't lie based on the title and thumbnail I thought this was a video about an older gentleman who loved one night stands late in life 🤣 Very cool channel, loved the video.
You are near my Old stomping grounds , From Ashland.
My wife and I call them "out & back". Same thing but we get a motel and have pizza delivered or find a diner.
I only had one "one nighter" this summer! Wanted 5 nights of camping at least. Well, they are added on the 5 for next year!, come visit the Province of Québec (Canada) if you can. Preferably in the Summer!
Great wee blog
Hmm, I’m very interested in the one-nighter thing, but I have a mild disagreement with your opening because it is my experience that it takes basically as much gear for a one- as a multi-nighter. The “base” is the same, unless you plan to ride in late and out early, and thus skip meals
and the gear required for them.
Hi im turning 60 this year and use a RAM VAN 2500 conversion to 3 night stand in SO CAL area 🇺🇸 San Diego and East County go thru a BURN SEASON a!most every year with nutrient rich soil rewards / Big Bear is popular along with the BEACH 🥊 Enjoy the Day
61 years old in Israel.
Good video. I wish your drone shots would have been longer and took in more scenery. 👍
Excelente lo tuyo 👍👍👍
That 50 reminded me of mine, model c 110 yet a 50 cc i thought was a dirt bike, lol
I have a friend who posted a photo of himself posing with his C110 back in the '60s and another of him on the same bike, in the same setting, now at his 70 plus odd years of age.
Thanks for sharing 😊
❤ Klamath River/96. Hate to see all the fire damage and drought. Check out the cafe at Seiad Valley and the pancake challenge.
I'm not married so my motorcycle adventures are mostly alone.
What saddle bags are they they look great!
Wild Heart soft panniers from Amazon. Good for a 1 nighter but not large enough for a long trip.
Beautiful overnighter. Even in spite of the burn area. I love those kind of trips. I believe those trees are dying because of the pine beetles out there. They’ll burn pretty quickly. For the locals it’s a real tragedy.
Hi there,
Very nice trip !!
What is the trademrk of your Yellow luggages ?
Wild heart soft panniers from Amazon
Good vid. What inflatable pad brand, model? ..thanks
A 10 year old Thermarest, comfort model. Full length.
Could not find any security kit on your channel Do you have a link??

Thank you for showing us a beautiful part of the US. What resources do you use to plan your route?
Good stuff..
Cool 😊👍
A one night kick stand adventure😊
Nice video.
What do you think of your Wild Heart side bags? They are cheap on Amazon, and have pretty good reviews there, too. I'm tempted to pick them up - I'd like to start doing overnighters and longer like you've been doing!!
Oh, I just found your video on safety and convenience mods that covers the bags. Sounds like you are happy with them!
Wild Heart soft panniers from Amazon are good for 1-3 night trips but small for extended travels. Plus no lock or security if traveling in populated areas.
As you get older a one nighter does change a lot lol.
After a few “ one nighters” you will have seen pretty much everything within that area . But a great idea
over-nighter
Man those trees were close at 16:11
Shoot no appreciation from the wife? She wants you gone longer? You could be in Thailand the North Mountain area with biggest Life Adventure you'll ever see. Leaving your wife at home is the best idea, so many pretty ladies!🙏🙏
See any bears? What saddle bags do you have?
No bears. Bags are Wildheart from Amazon.
@@MySeniorMoments , thanks for the reply

Where in N.E. Ohio did you grow up? I’m in Canton.

Your a lucky man
I’m from Mentor (class ‘78) and always looking for bike trips. Where did you go as a kid?
