  • Hi folks :)
    I hope you’re having a great day so far! Welcome back to what’s for tea, and I hope I find you all well!
    Tonight for tea I’m making a beautiful 3lb piece of beef brisket :) This is best slow cooked over a long period of time. I left mine on low in the slow cooker for 10 hours….but if you don’t have as much time, it can be done on high for 6 or 7 hours (but you’ll be sacrificing some of the tenderness).
    Simply throw in an onion and some root veggies followed by your seasoned and seared meat, add a little water….and that’s it! Super simple, and you’re left with a melt in the mouth roast.
    I’ve listed everything I used below…in case you want to give it a go for yourself.
    Thanks for stopping by and until I see you next, take care x

    We love cooking our Brisket. We have a Green Mountain pellet smoker which is perfect for this dish. Takes us about 12-14hrs to smoke brisket with a mixture of hickory, cherry and applewood smoke

    Made this today, followed to the letter and what can I say other than absolutely delicious!! Produces the most tender, melt in the mouth beef. Will definitely become a regular Sunday dinner in this house! Thanks for sharing your wonderful recipe. Making your minced steak and macaroni cheese recipe for dinner tomorrow 🤗😋.

    I didn't know onion tenderizes the meat, I just thought it helped flavour the gravy. Learn something new everyday! Looks lovely👍

    Just wonderful. I am definitely getting a new slow cooker! Thanks for the views of Ayr Beach. My parents lived in Alloway and how we all loved to walk along the beach. Great memories. Hx

    Gday, that's a nice looking roast what I do now when cooking most roasts is I use the herbs but also, a sachet of french onion soup and sprinkle it over the beef, lamb, or chicken and a modest sprinkle on the potatoes as well the soup powder will dissolve nearly 1/2 way through the spuds it's amazing! it' makes a much better roast by far.

    Reminds me of my gran’s ‘boiled’ dinner as we used to call it, she would use brisket, onions, carrots and parsnips, boil it for a few hours then add a few soaked Batchelors mushy peas, and serve it with mash and parsley sauce, what was left she would mash it up add the rest of the peas and the soup was delicious, I do miss her cooking Cheryl😌

    leave string on carves easier. cornflour requires the liquid to be near boiling to thicken that's why your " gravy " was water, and the cornflour won't be cooked out......... yes im a chef of over 30yrs

    I made something like this a while ago and it lasted me for about 5 or 6 meals (I have a Slicer thingy) and have been eying up the Brisket in the Supermarket periodically since. When I said "something like" did not hve those flavour enhancements your has. Frome memory I spread carrots and parships and celery over the bottom of the cooker as a sort of trivet I suppose and even without your flavour additions it was tasty. I will do it again but with your enhancements.
    BTW a Nap in the afternoon is fine but taken with PJ's and Teddy Bear is taking it a bit far :-D.

    • @WhatsForTea
      @WhatsForTea  5 років тому +3

      hammerqos hi there 😊 it is indeed whole grain...but also Dijon. I showed the jar at the beginning of the video, and if you look at the top label it says Dijon 😉 thanks for watching.

    You should give makro a try for meat they do superb deals ,you need to buy catering packs but the in store butcher will cut and pack it however you want ,a 5kg silverside of beef normally costs around £20 ,I get 3 joints and meat for a steak pie from that ,3kg of bacon costs £6 ,your nearest one is probably by Glasgow airport xx It's now called Bookers in Glasgow x

    You know with a slow cooker you don't need to do the rub or sear the meat?... just put all your spices in a broth with the onions in the pot and put meat in and let the slow cooker do it's thing. Many people miss the point of slow cookers and how they work and make the same mistake.
