    People hate on Cassie because "she's doing everything wrong" yet Cassie will say herself that she is not a professional makeup artist/youtube guru. She makes reviews for the everyday woman. If you're looking for some super-edited sellout, search elsewhere.

      It's the ridiculous controlling nature of some of the comments that gets me. "we like that you're so down to earth, but you NEED to do this, this, and this..." The rest are just your run-of-the-mill bullying comment towards anyone who doesn't conform to youtube norms.

      How are some of the other gurus sellouts for knowing how to look professional, know how to do professional applications of different products, etc? She has the money and time to learn more about application techniques and other shit. Shit, if I had the luxury to make some videos for money, I'd be sure to put in some effort in my look and put money into my "career". But I'm guessing making mediocre videos and looking a mess and still making money is easier.

    • @Grace-kk9ob

      Wow... I didn't know people were forcing you guys to watch Cassie's videos!! If it makes you that angry that this is her career, then it must suck to know that taking the time to watch this "mediocre" video made her some money. :) Also, I think you must not know what the world sellout means.

      Yes, I read her very emotionally charged comment. I just responded with facts and logic. So I can see how it's confusing. If you think society needs to cater to your emotions by using different words that mean the same thing....you need some therapy.

    Hey!!! I don't know of you have ever tried it, but Origins has a cleanser called Checks and Balances. It balances out the ph in your skin, which in turn helps to balance the oil production. I used to be extremely oily until I started using it. Definitely worth a try!!!!!❤💛💚💙💜

    • @laviathanmua5464
      @laviathanmua5464 8 років тому +5

      No prob. =D Makeup Forever Matte Velvet is one of my favorites. I typically will use Dr. Brants Pores No More as my primer (best I have ever found!!!), Matte Velvet, set with Coty Airspun powder, and finish with Boscia White Charcoal Oil control Setting Spray. That is what I used to use when I was super oily. I have normal skin now, but I still love all of these products, because they all control oils without leaching your face of the oils it needs.

    • @BluesChanteuse
      @BluesChanteuse 8 років тому

      Just about all cleansers leave your skin at the correct pH now, both in high end and drugstore (Cerave for example). That used to be the purpose of a toner, to get your pH back in check. Nowadays, many people go straight to acid toners mow because "balancing" toners have become redundant.

      And a great review! (now that I've watched the whole thing hehe) I would tend to agree with you, I'm a bit conflicted... On one hand, it seems a bit dry/thick/hard to blend, but then again, that does make it good for oily skin, giving it a demi-matte finish, & the natural oils probably would help this foundation out in the blending department... However, I feel like one would go through this stuff so fast! For such a small stick of foundation, that sh** better be SUPER pigmented & SUPER blendable, so that a little would go a long way ya know? Alas, this doesn't seem to be the case... Seems almost like something you'd be able to find at the drugstore (not that there aren't good products at the drugstore, but IMO, high-end products should make you go, "Wow" when you apply them... the difference in quality should be proportional to the difference in price is all I'm saying. But again, this doesn't seem to be the case...)
      Thank you for the wonderful review Cassie! The fact that I could surmise all of this from just a video should itself tell you how good of a job you do showing everything and going into detail! Most helpful reviews on youtube are on your channel I tell ya ✌😊💕
      P.S. Might I add that Galileo looks even more regal and majestic now that he towers over the little kitten hehe!! Honestly he's one of the most beautiful cats I've ever seen... 😻

Are u sure that's good enough?? I swear, there should be a 911 service for women with arachnophobia (sp?) (statistically speaking I'm sure more women are petrified of spiders lol) to call in a hero to get rid of spiders or other creepy crawlies we encounter in these traumatic situations lol... (Not talking about an exterminator, that's more preemptive... Just someone to sweep in heroically on-call and just get rid of the damn thing lol) "Oh thank you Spider-Man... How ever will I repay you?" *waves a handkerchief out the window* Ok wow I'm done... dunno how or why this turned into a 50's themed reenactment... 😂 (I'll blame the coffee that's kicking in 😉)

    Controversial opinion, but I think ABH is super overhyped because they've bought out a ton of beauty gurus. I've tried multiple dip brows thinking I got a dud, with different brushes, and it just isn't very pigmented. Even tried different colors. Also tried their highlighters and found them chunky, and their liquid lipsticks are just okay at best. I'm not surprised this isn't that great either.

    • @luvitcrazies
      @luvitcrazies 8 років тому +2

      I agree with you, I've used their contour cream and powder kit and they don't blend very well, I ended up returning that stick foundation because it was Definitely not medium to full coverage, it did not build well :/ the single eye shadows are very good though, especially the Modern Renaissance, but everything else I've used is a dud

      I mean Tati hates their lipstick and they don't even send her PR because of it but she loves the highlighters and brow wiz. There's a reason that people keep making brow wiz dupes for a reason. And Anastasia dip brow.

    • @TSUNAMI-MAMI
      @TSUNAMI-MAMI 8 років тому +3

      Maura Beach That's fine, I said I knew I had an unpopular opinion. But there are plenty of professional MUA's (not YT-only MUAs) who have plenty of other products that work better. "Brow wiz dupes" are just eyebrow pencils, which have been around longer than ABH, and Tarte actually had a brow mousse long before dip brow was released! I really think a lot of the popularity has to do with people being paid to be brown nosers -- and I don't blame them, ya gotta make that coin somehow. But, personally, from trying so many brow products in my life and then dipbrow, I'm super disappointed by how many dips I need to make for a small section of each brow.

      That powder is fantastic!! I use it on a damp beauty sponge and gently press it in to my skin to set foundation and/or concealer under my eyes, next to my nose, on my forehead, and on my chin. It really helps keep the oil at bay. Sometimes I dust it all over the rest of my face as well but normally I use a powder with a bit of coverage for that😉

    I have to echo some of the comments made about lighting and check-ins. It would be helpful to show multiple check-ins when you're trying a foundation. Actually, I might be in the minority here, but I think most of your foundation reviews would benefit from a longer testing period altogether. I don't think one day is sufficient enough to really test one, but again, maybe that's just me. Ultimately, I would like to see how a foundation wears throughout the day, not just at first application and the end of the day. That's where lighting comes in. I find it hard to see how the makeup wears and lasts on you because the lighting is different each time. I know you're still getting settled in the new place, but I really hope you can find a way to make the lighting more consistent in future videos.

    • @hildabrecht609
      @hildabrecht609 8 років тому +3

      True, she's changed her mind on some foundations after testing them more than once, so maybe reviews and not first impressions are a better idea, and of course it's just more accurate to have the lighting be better even with the final 'check in'.

    • @thriftthick
      @thriftthick  8 років тому +2

      I can definitely do more checkins in the future, it's good feedback to hear!! In terms of the lighting, natural daylight really is the best way to see a product's texture and color... so I don't think I'll be switching to studio lights for that initially in the day. At the end of the night though for that checkin I can see what I can set up. And with a longer testing period, these videos really are just first impressions (it's how I've always done them). Most of the time you can hear a better/more in-depth review in my monthly Best & Worst of Beauty videos.... if you don't see it there there's a really good chance I didn't like the product enough initially to keep on using it. I hope that all helps and, like I said, I'll be sure to do my best to make changes where I see appropriate so thank you for your suggestions/feedback :)

  • @annebfprado

    Are you going to try the Makeup Forever stick foundation?? It's my absolute holy grail now - and doesn't cling at ALL to dry patches. I apply it with a brush like you did but dot it around my face (if you drag it, then it does run the risk of looking cakey - but looks very natural if you just dot it and blend it out with a brush).

      I'm sure it was so people can see how it applies with different techniques.

    • @mikaMKP
      @mikaMKP 8 років тому +7

      Because when you're new to stick foundations it's so confusing to figure out how to apply this evenly that you just get caught up in it and forget what you had been wanting to do and what you actually did. 😉😂

    • @AdeselnaDavies
      @AdeselnaDavies 8 років тому

      Ugh I tried to apply the nyx stick foundation with a brush and even that was harsh and terrible to blend =( You can use a wet sponge but after you smear it all over the face, but even a sponge will suck some product, so probably just use the sponge wet after you spread the foundation to give it a natural finish is a good idea. Idk the NYX one has very light coverage and I use my Morphe G6 otherwise I wouldn't even notice I was wearing foundation. I have a fake tarte airbuki brush and it applies cream/powder foundation like a dream. I should try it with my NYX stick foundation.

    Love your channel, Cassie. May I offer a little feedback on the background? I find it a little distracting from seeing beautiful YOU. :) I was thinking -- could you hit up IKEA for a plain foldable room divider/screen that you could just put up really quick and take back down when not filming? Or maybe just get a solid color bedspread?
    Or film in the other room and get some lighting? I've seen light kits on Amazon for pretty inexpensive.
    Anyway, you asked about the background so I thought I'd weigh in. Keep doing what you do, I love all your videos. :)

    I'm not being rude or a "hater" I'm simply just saying my opinion. I'm just starting to not like her foundation reviews. application plays a huge part of how a foundation looks and I feel like she doesnt do a great job at it. and also what foundation is going to look great after 10+ hours? it would be more helpful if she showed the foundation after 5 hours instead. I don't know I just feel like after each foundation review I haven't learned anything about the foundation and it was just a waste of time watching the video

      @beautyisntperfect 8 років тому +36

      Well, not everyone is going to have a perfect application and some people are always going to prefer one method over another. While a 5 hour check in would be good, I think that many of us just wear makeup all day. Sometimes I have 12 hour days, so it's good IMO to know how it's going to look at the end of it.

    Hi. I'm glad you did a review on the ABH foundation stick. I wanted to see how it performed on combination skin. I think, just by hiw other UA-camrs have applied this , that you possibly put too much on it seems the most popular way to apply is one or 2 swipes on cheeks forehead and chin. A coup of dots under each eye and a small swipe down nose then either use a damp beauty sponge and blend in or a brush to blend/stipple in. I thought the colour looked good on you and it looked fine overall apart from the heavy application.

    I used to really enjoy your videos but it's really annoying how much you comment about not wanting to do something wrong because people might attack you. You say something in almost every single video about it. I understand you get slack, but so does everyone else here on UA-cam. I don't mean to say this to be rude but it just makes you seem very insecure.
    Also, you wore this foundation for like 14 (!!!!) hours and gave it a mixed review. It's not a long wearing foundation so why not do check-ins or do 8 hours? This isn't hate but just constructive. I've noticed you do this in a lot of your reviews.

      If you read the way people constantly pick apart everything she says and does, even twisting things in a way to make it seem upsetting or hurtful - you would get paranoid about having an opinion too. When she has stood up for herself before (on twitter, comments) they just get nastier toward her. Cassie cares a little bit too much about her viewers and I like that about her, but it's made it seem as if this isn't as fun for her to do anymore. I think she needs to get back into her art and take some pressure off herself.

There are many ways in which you can go about commenting without contributing to the negativity.

    Does she have a preference for warm toned foundations instead of something closer to her natural skin tone? She seems to gravitate to darker, more yellow shades, which makes it hard to judge how the makeup actually wears. It's like she's buying makeup for the tan she wants instead of the skin she has...

      I agree but she doesn't seem to be able to match herself correctly, she said "it said it was for neutral people" but wouldn't you try to swatch it in store? She doesn't really seem like a beauty guru though so maybe that's why and also when she tried to smooth it with her hand like what? lol

      I don't know why you wouldn't swatch before you brought it home, sample or not. There seems to be a trend in my area where 25-35 year olds in mom jeans slather on super dark foundation. I thought the point was to blend, but I wondered if this was the look she was going for.

    You should go get your face scanned at Sephora and have them email you your exact foundation color matches. Then when you go to buy a new foundation you can say I'm this color in this foundation and they will get the match in the new foundation you want. I think these foundation reviews would be a little better if you got your exact color match and you can see how things oxidize etc. just a thought. I don't know if you've done this and it wasn't helpful or whatever. Anyhow, love your channel and videos 😊

      It's a small scanner and they put it directly on your skin. It's hard to explain, I recommend going into Sephora and having it done. 😊

      That doesn't always work. I've seen many people do it then get the foundation home and it not match at all

    Yay! I always feel like I learn more about the product from your reviews than anyone elses and I've been dying to know the TRUTH about the stick foundations. I hope that you do the Hourglass one as well, I'd love a comparison between that and this. Also, I LOVE the music you use in your "running around" interludes!

    For stick foundations, the Clinique chubby in the nude is awesome! It melts into your skin and makes application a lot smoother than what the Anastasia looked like. It's easy to blend in with your fingers. And it's forgiving on imperfections.

    She always uses radiant primers that are meant for dry skin...

      Think it’s because it can make applying a stick foundation easier to blend as they tend to be harder to blend

    So glad for this review. I've tried the Elf stick which was a decent color match...but...I hated it!! It really.emphasized my pores and I use the Smashbox silicone like primer to fill in my craters! I noticed it breaking down on my chin before 2 hours, and I have extremely normal skin. I'm staying with liquids or powders.
    Also so glad you are in your own place!!!

      Woah, thanks for the heads-up! I was going to get that cause emilynoel recommended it as not looking so foundationy. Think I'll have to pass it by now. ;o)

    I used to read comments but honestly..so many of them are so mean it breaks my heart. What tf is wrong with you ppl?😢 Why do you feel it's ok to hurt someone?You can always hide behind your "constructive criticism" excuse, but most of them are far from constructive.

      laurababyseal kuutti thank you I was just thinking practically the same it's getting ridiculous on UA-cam which I believe is in great part due to the fact that a huge percentage of viewers are like 13. Notice that most awful comments are by accounts with random pics of Justin briber and others. They can't even show their own faces they're so insecure they have to go after others for no reason besides thinking it is funny.

      Christy Fielding I agree. Though if making ppl feel bad is funny to someone..they should get help. And yes: I too see ppl that annoy me or something but it wont make me feel any better if I say something horrible. Then again it might be bc I know how it feels when all you hear is:"you're ugly/fat/freak"etc. I think if they considered for a few minutes before posting..alot of them would just delete their mean comments, at least I hope so.💜

    Could you try baking/setting your face, with powder, Cassie? I feel like you would teach us all well on what it does, if it's necessary, etc... Thanks Cassie for another great video!
