    Great video! Not sure if you mentioned this or answered before, but about how much cook time do you get with that 16oz propane tank?

    • @cookingwithbigcat
      @cookingwithbigcat  4 роки тому +12

      Great question. It's been a while since I've used the little tanks but if I remember correctly I would get 3 or 4 20-30 minute cooks out of them. The large tank is the way to go but for a camping trip, tailgating or whatever 1-2 bottle is fine and much easier to transport. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!!

Also, I highly recommend using a level when setting up the stand and just give it a small pitch to the back where the grease drain is (I showed how to do this in my Sausage Gravy and Biscuits video). Thanks for the comment tommyv17, great question. I cooked breakfast (about 45 minutes), then the Steaks for dinner plus fries and onions and mushrooms (about another hour). Tank ran out about half way through around the hour and 15 minutes mark. So I would say an hour to an hour and 15 minutes. Hope this helps.

    Which campground is this specifically? This looks amazing. I live and camp all over Michigan, but this looks like the Florida comparison to some Michigan pine trees! Also, when you're cooking such a large breakfast, how do you keep all your food warm? Looks like you're just using some foil. I've got the 36" at home, but just picked up the 22 for camping. It's a tad easier to keep things warm at home.

    • @cookingwithbigcat
      @cookingwithbigcat  4 роки тому +2

      Great comment Brandon!!! It's Fish Eating Creek just West of Lake Okeechobee. It's a beautiful campground I've been going to for close to 20 years. Too keep the food warm usually in Tupperware or foil pans with aluminum foil on top. I like the foil pans because you can always throw them back onto the Blackstone to heat them up a little. Thanks for watching!!!

    Nice job. Came for the grill “review”. First one I clicked on. Stayed because of 305 and fisheating creek. Grew up in N. Miami, camped at the creek 2+ times a year with my dad on the primitive sites. He’d take my friends and I up there sometimes as well. Nothing like cooking breakfast over a fire, then jumping in a canoe and exploring the area. Then sitting back at night and roasting marshmallows over a fire. Thanks for bringing back the memories! I’m 561 now, but still 305 for life! 😃. Suavemente is a nice touch. 😉

    Not only beautiful scenery but also great video of all that good food! Pretty sure I will get one of those griddles but after watching another reviewer having quality problems with the stand and cover that came in the Walmart bundle, I was wondering if you purchased yours separately? Any issues with the stand or the cover?

    • @cookingwithbigcat
      @cookingwithbigcat  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks Karin, I did get the bundle. The cover is really just good for keeping things from landing on your griddle when not using it. It is not really air tight so for cooking purposes it doesn't help much. The stand is also a little tricky to get used to. The legs extend and there is a nob with basically a flat threaded nut that squeezes against each leg that holds it in place. Trying to level it can be a challenge. I got mine level and just keep it out now so no problem anymore. Overall it has been an excellent griddle and I wouldn't not buy one for those minor things. Just my opinion. Good luck...

    • @cookingwithbigcat
      @cookingwithbigcat  4 роки тому +2

      Thanks Martin. This Blackstone is actually designed to sit on a table. It has 4 rubber peg feet about 2 inches in height on each corner. You can buy it by itself or as a kit with the stand that I have. Those 4 rubber feet just sit in 4 corresponding holes on the stand and you just lift it straight up to take it off the stand. I would say the bottom gets hot but if you utilize the rubber feet you should be good. Hope this helps.

    • @cookingwithbigcat

      Actually a great question. Like a gas grill the lid is not very air tight so not great for cooking like an oven. However, great to keep insects away and to keep for warm. If I need to get that oven effect I will use a dome (sometimes in conjunction with a rack to prevent burning on the bottom of the food). Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!!!

      Thanks for the comment D. I usually cook for 2, sometimes 3 but I have cooked for 6 on this 22" Blackstone. I keep my cook tools in a tote so it's a pretty quick set up. Usually takes me about 5 minutes to set up the Blackstone (check out my very first video). A wagon would be excellent because the blackstone is heavy for 1 person. I don't use the little tanks anymore and 1 large propane lasts the summer easily. Thanks for watching!!!

    I bought the Adventure ready 22" griddle last summer. The hose that comes with this does not work well with a 20lb tank. If you just turn it on like a normal grill it has almost no flame. I emailed customer support and they told me that this is a common problem and sent me an elaborate set of steps you have to do to get the griddle to work properly. They also offered me the option to purchase a different regulator hose for $30. The piece you need for this griddle to function properly is not sold with it and this is not covered in the warranty. The rest of the griddle is great, but that doesn't matter if it can't get warm. Save your money and get a different brand that works!

      Hey Joe, thanks for the comment. I had the same issue to and was very frustrated. After many hose changes, tank changes I googled it (should have done that in the first place). I found that after you connect the hose to the tank and the griddle, you have to open the tank nozzle slowly. If you open it fast it shuts down the regulator. I have not had a problem since and I obviously use the Blackstone a lot. Hope this helps.

      Webers had the same issue. Just hook it up, make sure the grill knobs are off, turn the tank on or fully open and then wait at least five minutes for the tank safety valve to reset and then light it up. When turning it off, turn the grill knobs off first, then the tank. Never fails on my webers or my 22 blackstone.

      I got it at Walmart in the Blackstone section. I don't remember the name but next time I'm at Walmart I'll check it out and reply again. It was around $10-$12 and it works great. Thanks for the comment!

      I've seen the grill/griddle combo but honestly I'm a charcoal guy myself for grilling. Obviously I love the griddle and use it all the time. But if you are a serious camper and would use it a lot it looks very cool... Good luck...

You cooked EVERYTHING I was looking to cook all the way down to the veggies. It was a must Like & Subscribe, Thank you sir! Taking my 17in out this weekend for a camping trip but ill be better prepared after watching this!

      Either a dry wall knife or a paint scraper. My step father who turned me on to the Blackstone gave me one as a gift when I got mine last Christmas. Works great for cleaning.

    • @cookingwithbigcat
      @cookingwithbigcat  4 роки тому

      Thanks for the comment FSU Stunna. I agree the legs are an issue. I have found that when setting it up it's best to pull the legs outwards before tightening. When the are bent inwards they wobble even after tightening. Hope this helps.

    Anyone that fails to season potatoes when first cooking loses all culinary credibility. Stopped watching at that point.

      Good catch! I always season my potatoes when first cooking, just didn't get it in the video. You can see on one of my very first videos "Big Cat Breakfast" where I actually show it. Thanks for the comment!

      Cool, thanks, always trying to find new grilling ideas. Close to buying a Blackstone 22. Love charcoal while camping but tired of it losing heat.
