Wow awesome . Loved the story. Those people lived a hard life. Glad you found the home side.
Glad you enjoyed it Gaye. God bless and have a great week.
Love your enthusiasm Todd, keep them coming .🇮🇪
Thanks Terence. I have more coming and many more videos from this site.
Todd you diffently have the best show on UA-cam and I thank you for the enjoyment I get from watching your videos
Wow, thanks Tom! It's been a long hard journey but I'm blessed to have a great core group of fans that definitely includes you!
Out of the hospital and treating myself to binging Appalachian History Detectives. Crashed on my couch I have to tell you that casting my phone to the TV makes Appalachian History Detectives a whole new experience. Like watching a documentary on big screen. 🙄 Except instead of Sir David Attenborough & animals it's Todd and Appalachian History & amazing finds. I'll probably never watch it on my phone or computer again. Love the way you're insetting the cleaned up picture of some of your finds on the screen. This site was AWESOME!
I have never watched mine nor anyone else's on the big screen....my brother swears by it too but now I may have to give er a try.....this site gives up lots of coins in upcoming episodes.
Wow congratulations Todd on your first thimble! Buttons copper coins, awesome that your finding old homesites that are long forgotten! Great job!!
Thanks 👍. I felt like a kid at this site. It was such a shock to find.
A really great dig! The china looks so delicate among the rougher artifacts. You can tell that they really appreciated the colorful dishware. It is really beautiful. I just love your excitement and enthusiasm Todd.
You can sure tell Todd enjoys what he is doing.
Thanks 👍 Lynne. I remember as a kid my Great Grandmother's tea set. I know how she treasured it and finding these in the ground flooded me with memories of her. Such a small thing but for them it was their treasure in life.
Boy ,oh boy ! This is a dig day made in heaven ! Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for bringing out the history of these old places. I loved seeing the China even. Great story and fantastic finds.
Wow! My fav types of spots! They keep coming! Congratulations!
Finding treasure is always fun 😉
The hits just keep on coming! What a great site you’ve got there.
Holy jumping billygoats!!! Nice finds!! Thank you.
Wow!!! What a Great dig!!! You found some Great stuff!!! Thank you for the history and the dig!!! God Bless!!!
Thanks Lori....have an awesome week.
Your recent finds have been just incredible Todd! Way to go!
Thanks! More to come....
This looks to be one of your best, and most productive, hunts ever. Congrats on that bear chili!
This or the Wizard Clip but this one was more exciting as a find. I dream about places like this. LOL Hope all is going well my friend.
That area is very old , you are lucky to have secured it. Those are very good finds. I love the Draped Bust , my favorite coin.
Thanks! I go back and find much more and older coins...sites like this can spoil a detectorist. It was pure luck finding this place untouched. Thanks and Cheers!!
Awesome video! Loved it all. The ending was great!
Loved the video from beginning to end. So many great finds and lived the ending.
Great video. awesome finds Todd thank you
I have found with old house sites like this, there is a place where everyone got on and off a horse. At that place you will find a lot of flat buttons and maybe some coins. Pay especially attention to this place and dig the really iffy signals, because up until 1820 Spanish silver coins were used and a quarter cut reale is very small and can sound iffy. Getting on and off a horse pops off buttons and drops stuff out of pockets. Fun Fun!
Very interesting. What is perplexing about this site is there doesn't appear to be any road bed or flat area to park a wagon or buggy. This house, like the others I have found on this farm seems to have been built on hillsides versus the flat ground. I guess the flat ground is so sparse, they use it solely for cultivating. You bring up a great point though. I need to look for where they did arrive and disembark. Cheers and thanks!!
Great finds. Love the music!!
Thanks!
Looks like you hit the target on that spot. Nice finds there.
Loved the video. Awesome to find a place that old
Todd, you had a spectacular day. Please continue to go back to that location. Oh my goodness, it was exciting to,see you pull out so much history. There has to be privies and old bottles and jugs buried. Congrats on your chilly award. I am making a crock pot full tomorrow. Take care. Another fantastic backstory.👏😀👍
Thanks P&P. I do go back many times and each time is like this one I think. I find many coins here and shoebuckles and buttons but finding this place is truly a dream come true for me. I bet your chili is fantastic! Great on cold days.
What an exciting dig!
Hey.....so glad to see you on here Cyndy. It was a great blessing having you here for the visit. Thanks for watching and commenting!!
My first thimble sat in my trash pouch for 3 months. I thought it was trash until I emptied out my pouch and took a closer look!
You know Rob, that was like my 1718 Spanish Cobb coin. When I dug it I thought it was a piece of aluminum. I didn't film it. I threw it in my trash bag and it was so small that when I threw away my trash, it was in the bottom with the dirt. when I emptied the dirt it fell out and it was then I saw what it was...welp...I'm so stupid....I may have tossed thimbles too honestly. I'm glad you found yours and have it safe now. Good to hear from you my friend.
What an overall fantastic video and awesome finds! Congrats on the Chili competition
Great video ' a lot of history.Thank you for sharing with us.Congrats on your bear chili.God Bless you all.
Thanks Jimmy
Wow what great finds. I wonder what the Bear Meat tastes like. Congrats on that too!
Nice site , for sure hunt it again. Great finds Todd.
Thanks 👍 Ricky!!
Amazing video and very exciting finds. Love your interesting pre video information and the bluegrass at the end! I truly enjoy your content. And oh yeah, GO VOLS!!
Glad you enjoyed it buddy. I'm more of a history nut than a Metal Detectorist and derive enjoyment in learning about who settled these places. It provides purpose to me and why I do it. It's not for everyone...they just want to see the dig. I'm grateful for anyone who enjoys history too. Now, I'm a VOL through and through. Class of 1994 School of Architecture....we are hoping my son hears back soon from the College of Engineering on his acceptance.
Very awesome digs I really love your channel thank you patty
Thanks so much Patty.
Awesome video!!!
Great hunt! Good luck!
Thanks 👍
That’s was a awesome hunt 🏋🏻♂️
You found lots of good stuff .❤️❤️❤️
❤hi Todd, still watching and loving your videos. Happy you are using a Mine Lab.👌
Great to hear! Thanks so much...I always look forward to hearing my my solid core of fans and old friends....you are in that circle...
@@AppalachianHistoryDetectives thank you Todd. You are my favourite. Keep the videos coming please and hopefully some more bagpipes from Brayden.🙏🏻😃
Awesome video Todd you do such a good job telling the story . I believe that is a small colonial shoe buckle or passably a knee buckle.
Yep I think a knee buckle. I go back to this site many times and in the next video from this place, I find 2 complete colonial shoebuckles (except missing the chape). I find many coins here, some in the 1770's....
I'm so glad for your success. You've had a long drought
Thanks John.
Todd great video. Love hearing about the family. Great finds. Congrats on a second place finish. Bear meat?????? Never tasted it. Keep on digging. Oh welcome to winter gotta love digging frozen ground
Yep. Bear Meat has little to no fat so the Chili has a different taste altogether. I lost first place by 3 votes...darn! Woke up this morning and the ground is covered in snow. Last week I went out and the ground was so frozen I had to throw in the towel and call the day. Yesterday I went out next to the river and it was still unfrozen and was able to have a pretty good day. I found an 1803 Draped Bust that looks like its new still.
@@AppalachianHistoryDetectives Maybe someday I'll try chili with bear meat. You were close maybe next time. I went out hunting today. Great day except it was windy. Found a few pieces of Civil War. Lots of trash. I thought I found silver also but it turned out to be modern quarter. It was sitting sideways in the dirt. Oh well maybe next outing I can find some silver
Congrats on a great bunch of Coppers, you definitely had a good day 😀
I have gone back to this site for a week now and have pulled Coppers every time. I wonder why they lost so many....these kinds of sites can spoil ya! LOL
@@AppalachianHistoryDetectives I hear ya, I just pulled 2 Spanish out of this site I've been hunting for years, every time I think I found everything, bamm! Another coin or relic. NEVER HUNTED OUT!! 😄 HH and hope you find many more! 😁
@@capecoddiggerzmetaldetecti5718 you know I have never found a Spanish Reale? And in all the sites I’ve detected only one has ever been found. It’s on my bucket list. I need to come up there! 😉
Thanks!
Thank you so much! This means more than you will ever know. Thanks!
Nice finds Todd
Thanks Wes
@@AppalachianHistoryDetectives Your welcome I can't wait for this weather to get warmer so i can get out and detect wish i could find some old maps of my area . I live along the james river and kanawha turnpike In Fayette county wv a lot of history through here
@@wesstump7449 need to reach out to Isaac and Chad with Blue Creek Detectors on UA-cam. They operate down there too. Tell them I sent you.
@@AppalachianHistoryDetectives Ok thank you Todd
Great Day, a Honey House Spot. I know you had a Delicious Day!
The best!
I think my favorite was the thimble. I imagine a woman sewing clothes and quilts and then losing her thimble. What if she only had the one and all that sewing to do.
Todd,
My first comment, just saw the thimble. Almost all of them are so small.
Were they used by children or very small women???
I see you found my birth date wheatie...:)
I can't wait to see what else you discover in the future!
Cheers,
Rik
I think people were smaller in stature then. I have three wedding rings my wife cannot even put on but my 14 year old daughter can. They did marry young so maybe the Thimbles are for a teen...I cannot even get a pinky in them....LOL
We have Chili Cook Offs here in NM,Chili is King 😎 I make Elk Chili 😉
Elk Chili?? that sounds good. People ask me what Bear Meat tastes like and I'm sure you get the same from serving Elk Meat. I have travelled all over NM and love it out there. Beautiful country. God bless.
We hunt up by Grant NM in American Mountain. Elk Chili is Amazing 💕
@@joseleswopes1400 I have spent time in Gallop and to the Navajo and Hopi Reservations south of there. Small world.
@@AppalachianHistoryDetectives Gallup NM is cool, my dad used to race his Winged Sprint Car at the Old Winslow reservation Horse Track. The guys would put on a show just outside of Gallup NM on the Reservation heading towards Ship Rock towards Farmington NM 😎
Do Buttons have any Value to Them ?
Not really unless they are Presidential commemorative or military and in near perfect condition. Most dug coins and buttons do not hold value.
@@AppalachianHistoryDetectives YEAH BUT ITS EXCITING DIGGING UP OLD COINS
I expect you don't have a choice who you advertise for. Pot gummies doesn't seem to be what you would want to advertise.
LOL. Nope. I especially hate it when elections roll around and UA-cam puts on your ads someone you can't stand. Creators have no ability to affect much in terms of advertisements. They are randomly selected by YT algorithms.
