      Oh, and if you happen to see my comment, I also have a non related question. I have 2 small tattoos on my practice leg. One was lined with a 9rl the other used a 13rl. The two tattoos have the same line weight (line thickness?) I'm wondering what I did wrong? Is it a case of the needle not going in deep enough or am I moving my hand too fast?

    • @cindyjames1468
      @cindyjames1468 Рік тому

      @@IHaveNoLaifu you either havnt gone deep enough or hand speed to voltage isn't right maybe turn voltage up or slower depending on your hand speed just play about and see what works 😊 eventually your get it iv been self taught on and off last couple years and iv only just got it properly from trial and error hope this helps

    • @IHaveNoLaifu
      @IHaveNoLaifu Рік тому

      @@cindyjames1468 ahh, thank you. 💕 It's more likely than not a case of me not going in deep enough. Although none of my practice tattoos have blown out, needle depth still makes me more cautious than it probably should. When I get around to fixing it, I'll try going in a little deeper.

    If you use too much water these tattoos fade too fast. You are better off using a full spectrum color pallet that is full saturation. Make sure to include the tale-tell darker richer tones where paint gathers and dries. I suggest looking for actual watercolor paintings that you like and recreating them, as opposed to imagining what watercolor actually looks like. You will find you are using the inks at full strength, and that you choose a bigger pallet. The look is phenomenal, and causes less stress on the skin. I would be happy to teach anyone the best tricks to have a watercolor tattoo that has staying power.

    • @dalebogucki
      @dalebogucki Рік тому +1

      I agree you have to loosen up on your strokes. That is key to good blending at any ink strength. But I will argue a full color palette, as opposed to watering down ink will last longer. I have seen tattoos I did fade badly because I used the waterdown technique. Putting water in dark colors is fine, especially in black, but warm tones and pastels will just not have staying power. You are better off mixing a full spectrum palette. Take some time and study watercolor paintings you like. Look at what the artist was doing. It will help you make better decisions about your color palette. Looking at watercolor tattoos will not help you get better at watercolor tattoos. You have to look at an actual painting to understand what is happening with the colors.

    • @ArtSomething

      Yes you can pack color however you want you can pack water down color however you want. If you’re comfortable doing something best to just stick with that. Also this is just one type of watercolor where you truly use water in your color. Another way instead of using water you could use a lighter pink and then where you want it darker use a darker pink to give me a fact of water color.

    How do you know how many dips in the water is the right consistency for the color you want?

    • @ArtSomething
      @ArtSomething  Рік тому +1

      You kinda have to figure that out for yourself and depending upon the client skin. That’s why I said a couple times in the video that in the beginning I went with more water than I needed and then put that in the skin and if it wasn’t dark enough if you will I would get back into my color and add less water until I got the result I was looking for. So you kind of have to mess around a little bit and find what works for each client and their skin type.
