Are we sure that Geralt of Rivia guy was real, and not some kind of folk mythic hero like Robin Hood, or Ivan the Fool? He seems way to prominent to be real. There is no way a singler person is so connected to so many important events in all of the Continent.
There are several theories that say Dandelion wrote the books (one of the early short stories diverges into the first-person). In lore, he wrote a series of memoirs called 'Half A Century of Poetry,' which describes similar elements to the books,' so it's always been possible that Geralt is, if not invented, massively played up the narrative, he is a bard after all. That being said, I am not the biggest fan of this theory as the books contain plot points and perspectives that Dandelion could never have known about if they really did happen. At the very end of Season of Storms, in the epilogue, things get really interesting. The PoV character is thinking just this, who was this Witcher, was he real, or just some bards tale. Did he live, and did he die? 'Hmmm, guess we'll never know.'
All those legends about the white wolf could be just Master Jaskier's imaginary handiwork, sure. But his works involve so many kings and nobles, and not all of them were portrayed positively in them. All of these influential people called out Master Jaskier's work to be fake or exaggerating, yet none of them ever said anything about the White Wolf being a fake legend. So I guess Master Jaskier's works do have "a grain of truth" about them. 😉
Love the attention to detail, you can really tell that they have played the game (Witcher 1). At 4:16, the Grandmaster Jacques de Aldersberg (Alvin) has the silver sword buried in his chest. That last line always stuck with me.
@@davidharris3728 I played Witcher 1 at the end of last year and it surprisingly still held up. It was difficult and didn't hold my hand, but it was a very fulfilling experience and felt closer to the books :)

The first Witcher I played was when i was 14 and ever sense its characters and story has had me hooked. I remember it being an exceptionally easy choice to help the Elves in my first playthrough, and in repeated playthroughs found it difficult to betray them.
I found it easy to not help them. To that point, Iorveth has been consistently hostile, and Roche consistently helpful, even at great risk to himself and his comrades. And regardless of my agreement with Iorveths general objectives, his tactics clearly have not even approached being successful for many, many decades, and may in fact be harmful to those goals. Metagaming, Roche is even more clearly the better choice. In Flotsam, there is NO pogrom and no women burned alive if you go with Roche; the nonhumans there are objectively better off if you don't choose Iorveth. Then Vergen is a complete wash for the Iorveth route, because Nilfgaard takes it and Upper Aedirn falls as of Witcher 3.

Yes, that's a very good point. Still, I can't seem to see Geralt following Iorveth over the guy who liberated him in the Prologue and helped him in Chapter 1. Another close fought battle in the Witcher world. @5:30 I’m pretty sure I saw the death of this king on his barge in a video game trailer. Letho is unstoppable when he finds his mark.
