I'm pretty sure they give those 'teaching is a superpower' shirt away for free for teacher appreciation month... Itook my eyes away for a minute, ...the case I thought I was watching started as a man in plum tank top with NOT HUMAN written on it with short brown hair who answered in a masculine voice when they called his name...5 minutes later theres a completely different looking person who I thought was maybe his sister with wavy brown locks, mascara and a 'Teaching is a super power' t shirt trying to flirt with Judge Webster or maybe Attorney Canfield to get out of trouble 😂😂... took me a minute to realize .. oh, no it's the same drama queen 😂😂 wait until he sees the accommodations they have at county jail 😂 a little different then house arrests and face peels 😂 I bet the judge took SO much pleasure in this

Some mommas treat their dogs better than their young children, which they view as an inconvenience, in spite of being paid per child.
I have a cousin like this. Eternally twelve years old no responsibilities can't trust him with anything involving adulting..but he's good with kids. He's the best babysitter you could want. He would do anything in the world to keep the little ones safe. He's really really good with little bitty babies. Very attentive.
It made me really sad when I finally figured out it's because he loves those kids and hates himself.

Arguing for someone's innocence is noble thing and a constitutional right. Having to defend their stupidity has to really suck.
You can see Patterson practically cringing as the defendant talks himself into jail.

I'd say it's only noble when the client is actually innocent. Otherwise it's just lying. A contest of who can be the most persuasive liar sometimes.
@@bryanrussell6679 The right to a vigorous defense is critical to justice whether innocent or guilty. Defense attorneys are part of the checks and balances. Any other solution would mean we are removing the presumption of innocence, that is good for nobody. If we are not satisfied with justice we need to look at prosecutors and ask why they aren't doing a better job.

He was trying to ask for Protective Custody and isolation.
It was more "I'm obviously gay and that makes me a target in prison"
His worries definitely aren't unwarranted. He's a target for tape for sure.
Suicide would cross my mind in his shoes personally. Having gone through a binge of jail shows and documentaries and visibly effeminate men and trans men tend to be big targets for sexual assault or assaults from people who dislike their lifestyle. One of the guards was avidly trying to get one guy to tone it down for his safety.

That's Judge Webster's superpower - keeping defendants on the line long enough for law enforcement to show up. I LOVE that her staff, including lawyers on both sides, play along with the delay. Then again, we're not exactly working with Mensa candidates 😅

They don't want to fill up the jails with lower cases like this. Like the prosecutor said, just get it over with.

It's that or be s.a. they are scared of going for a reason.
Not to mention, paper jumpsuit, no blanket, no utensils, and no privacy. They'll check on him every 10-15 minutes and/or a camera up in the corner watching his every move.

As a person who used to do background checks on nannies, I am very surprised he is a nanny. There are usually extensive background checks. Someone with even a charge of driving without license of proof of insurance wouldn't get hired.

I think what he said was he failed diversion which he got put on for petty theft. Either way Judge didn’t know either of those facts which is why he got jail time.

The guy's lawyer looks like he's going to blow a gasket with every word his client says.
Keep in mind he said he advised him not to speak unless directly answering a question from the bench. Then when she asked he went well beyond the required answer.

@@ChristopherSloss Right. His "lawyer" was relegated by the defendant to "standby council." That means he isn't acting in full legal capacity. More as an advisor on law than an advocate. That said, he does tell the judge he has advised the defendant to remain silent unless answering a direct question from the bench. The defendant then goes above and beyond with his answers *as his own council* . The public defender would actually be acting in contempt if he intervened. This is why the one black lady in Michigan that always *does* jump in has to fall all over herself apologizing to the judge and defendant for jumping in. Either one could find her in contempt or request she be held in contempt for violating the defendant's right to represent himself.

@@mariek8578 Debbie's replacement just died in a car crash (may Melissa RIP) so since there are few attorneys in St. Joe County willing to work for county wages I suspect that Debbie may be getting her job back whether Dave Marvin likes it or not.
In Michigan jail isn't free. St. Joe County charges $10 per day, most Michigan counties charge between $30-$60 per day.
