www.aerohouse.net/
Yes it is a box!But after living in the 'poor' side of town, watching slumlords getting fat on my money-well,that little box,as you call it, installed on a hillside in the woods sounds like heaven!
i love the simplicity of this home. this is something i would love to build in DC
You'd be able to grown your own home ... you know as the years get buy and you have still the land to place new units on .... another kiddo = another add on to your home.
good idea!
I like those columns. They look good without being too difficult to engineer or build.
Perfect for locations that don't experience severe weather regularly, unfortunately here in KY we are in Tornado Alley. Wanted to give you props though
I like your modular design concept. I think these kinds of AutoCad dream houses do a certain disservice to the public because the inexperienced might be left with the impression that roofs wont leak or hold water puddles when flat, or sloped roofs to shed snow load aren't really necessary any more.
"and flat roofs are problematic"
They do not have to be problematic. Good construction!
But the idea is good ... well one could use other materials do ...
おもしろいです。
そのような便利で環境を配慮してる建築は以前なら不可能でしたね。今は幸せな時代です。
I designed something very similar to this, but didn't get around to finishing the interior. Like the adjustable floors. Good for countries you can't own land in, like here. Everyone's brought up shipping containers - they're just too hot for tropical climates and installing air-con would defeat the object of any 'eco' benefits and lift your utility bill substantially.
And the wind blew. And there was a glamorous house directly on the heads of the glamorous owners ...
The TRW office building was built in 1982, The roof on our bungalow was installed in 2005. The bungalow is 800 square feet. The material is rubber that's glued down to the plywood, no seams. I didn't install it as we had a subcontractor do the work. I'm sure you can do a "Search" I' sure there must be several types to choose from.
Good idea, seems like the design would work efficiently in disaster areas
Excellent Idea
beautiful houses
It looks like a nice design, but what about insulation? Privacy? Not to mention water drainage provided by a sloped roof, electrical systems, etc. As far as being economical it does look pretty nice though.
Nice concept - there is future to this type of building/build method :)
Oh man these look more yummy to a tornado then trailer parks do.
looks simple enough to assemble yourself. Cm'on Ikea!!!
great solution of the frame... love it.
Wow, a box....made from 2x4s and plywood. In the future these will be called houses.
1stTactless a
I like your video a lot
Wow ! It's a box!
Me agrada, existe representación en Chile.
good concept
What about them? In watching the video you have many options for the sub floor. Steel joists, wooden joists, you could even use a concrete slab. What size quake are you worried about?
nice! is it cheap? whats the cost for building something like that? Might work in developing countries.
I like the idea....
I really like the music. Did Helen Keller write it?
Am I living in a box
Am I living in a cardboard box
very good infrastructure and easy to use but practical How possible we want see
So great !Great idea !
The 1x6 braces are notched into the vertical walls at a 45 degree angle, no loss of interior space. This is the standard method for all stick built houses.
Not convinced untill I see a working, real world, real scale prototype and perform a check. Thinking about this model I think it would be excelent for forested areas, where trees provide extra suport and protection agains weather and human-based threats (like car crashes and riots).
But it would need to be a rainforest, otherwise fire can be a nasty problem. Also, not near big trees or a fallen branch can cause severe damage to this doubtfull cover.
Nice, but it would be even nicer if there weren't so many layers -- at least 4 in the walls and floor by my count. How does that compare (cost per square foot) with something like Kalwall?
it is a hamster cage. does it come with a wheel? I can save on my club membership! I also want a salt lick. and a climbing rope.
I still have not figured out, from where it enters the house XD
beginning in the animated representation ... looks like a chest of drawers for office XD
a house raised disperses energy :S
So big deal, cut in the 1x6 bracing. Built over 4000 house and cutting in bracing is a piece of cake
how about some insulation and finishing the inside?
You would have the same problem with stick built houses. I would build a steel frame for the ends as they would also serve as jambs for the doors. You certainly couldn't use wooden jambs on doors that size as they wouldn't last that long before the doors would be out of adjustment. The steel jambs would need to be bolted to the side walls with at least 1/2" bolts
Are you familiar with hermetically sealed roofs? We had one on our 70K ft office and also have one on our bungalow at home. No problems, no leaks, no mold, works perfectly. They are a little more expensive but a good investment
if i understand what you are saying it would reduce the space inside the structure.
what is the point ... this structure is easy and cheap to build so the contractors can make money, not so that it is green ... how is it green anyway?
The point is that if you press in or out at the top middle of the structure there is not much to resist, the classic parallelogram instability problem, as opposed to triangles.
Looks like a tornado's wet dream. And where is the bathroom? I'd like some privacy for some things.
Imagine yourself coming home and realising your house has been stolen. Now that would be funny huh!
shoe box on stilts with windows...ITS BRILLIANT!!!
Wonder what this is like when the winds kick up? I mean strong winds, not necessarily hurricane force but still, 50 or 60 mpr might be a little scary in this.
That takes care of front-back shear, but not side-to-side shear forces.
I would be concerned about stability. Even with 2x10 floor joists 16 IOC seems the floor would be "bouncy". What about kitchen and WC?
Pretty cool, but what kind of resistence would that offer in an extreme weather situation?
That is a good point. But, that is an engineering and construction issue.
I want one!
steven reid come and get it!
I know a little about construction as I've had a house I designed built and renovated several others, and this structure is not very strong at all. There is no support except those corner brackets and the plywood. I feel it is only partially complete. And in snow country, downright dangerous.
This gave me ideas for the sims 3 thnx!
روووووعهههههه ومبدع
Proper insulation is the key to keep the temperature liveable in both the summer and winter seasons. We in Canada have a similar shaped-structure in the form of cargo shipping container as an alternative green housing. For more information view our channel.
And why couldn't you install insulation? Foam, fiberglass take your pick. Looks like the exterior walls are either 2x6 or 2x8, plenty of room for insulation.
Does it have electricity and running water/ plumbing .
The best we can build is a box ! Please ! Have some imagination !!!!
We've been building boxes for centuries, and still are. We just pretty them up so they don't look so much like boxes.
I wonder if we could apply this technique to the shoreline here in my town, many houses were lost, and I can see a rapid recovery using this, not to mention the combination of this and our local solar companies to make more efficiently powered housing.
Hurricane sandy was a bitch, and if another hurricane happens, we can rebuild fast.
Im in Ohio and i would LOVE more information on this :-)
nice !!!
Hey, here's a cartoon showing you how to build boxes and attach them to each other! Lol, how is that a new concept?
insulation of the floor ?
What program have you used to make this house simulation?
Cardboard has a high R value and works well as insulation, except that it rots easily when moist and is a fire hazard.
From your comment, you apparently aren't in the construction field. There many roof materials you could use, from hermetically sealed to steel. You could also change the roof to a shed type and then which would open up a wide vista of choices.
It would be easier to put the columns down first before you build the main shell hehe...
Be a great architectural studio :)
two year old Lego block idea. not energy efficient. wouldn't want to live in a diorama on on stage. divas will like this one.
it really does not appear that this structure has any lateral bracing at all, it looks unstable and liable to vibration.
Really nice thanks !!
What is the total cost for this project?
say good bye to ur house when theres a storm
love it
@Palozotube containers themselves are pretty expensive, ive read the documentation, the wood os these houses is treated to resist humidity..
very interesting video …
Basically it says, build the floor, build the structure put walls and a roof and that's your house !
Didn't anybody figure out the environmental cost of useless posts such as this : power, wrong application uses, misuse of computer, etc ?…
Najlepsa Villa na Kosmaju
Anything you want...wood...steel...plastic...take your pick
It's no more "unsafe" than a typical American made balloon frame house.
So!!!!!!What's the starting cost??!!!!
peut on avoir un idée des couts pour une maison de ce style......
merci
IKEA should go into this.
MUY PRÀCTICA, PERO QUÈ TAL PARA GUARDAR EL CALOR?
Where is the "green" part of this house? How is this house powered? Where does it get its water? What happens to the water after its used once? How does it get cooled and heated? Earthships put this house to shame.
Hello Mr Schelin,
What type of foundation would this structure need?
Thanks!
4:25 is the best part.
So put the bathroom where ever you want too. You obviously haven't built a house before
and when storm is coming...you are without house? very green im telling you
Not included!! That is extra unit called "outhouse" and is available separately, so you have to trek through snow and feel one with nature...lol.
@armando84105 Capping around the stumps or base of slab there are lots and lots of proven ways, In Australia we have a big termite problem and 90% of all houses new and old are timber framed and there is no problem! unless you are cutting corners LOL!
We'll let you do the carbon fiber house, let us know how it works out for you
there are already ikea houses.
a bird cage! yey!
i found a tool to hide youtube-comments. very useful!
If I wanted to live in a fucking garden shed with a window I would build a garden shed with a window.
they forgot to show the 4 metall rops to tie the 4 corners to the ground.
you can rely on 2x wooden stake on a slope like that. yeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh.
where ever you want to fuc++ng put it. It's designed for a very land strapped country..Japan... also one that has many earthquakes and exceptional building standards . it aint going to blow away. Personally i like it.
where's the Aero Crapper?
winters must be cold
the average normal modern construction is little more than this. It's really just plastic siding, moisture barrier plastic wrap, plywood (or particle board), fiber glass insulation and the sheet rock your teen age kid punches through when he wakes up angry. Jasons axe can already go right through some % of house walls anyway. You can put a sledge hammer through a cinder block wall easily enough. I lke the smplcty of ths house jst needs insulation and interior walls. why is it aero tho?
So many windows on the north side isnt that energy efficient- but
style-
sir can we add 1 more box above this box ??
