You've asked for it...so thanks for making me suffer alongside all of you 😭 I hope you're all happy!! Also I rant a little bit about celebrity dynamics and parasocial relationships at the end...
I am working on checking out other Spring 2023 anime but it's take me time to edit, so I'll be uploading my uncut reactions to Patreon in the meantime! www.patreon.com/ashewyn
This anime had the most realistic representation of a twitter user (ruby) and a redditor (aqua)
How does Aqua represent a redditor?
@@Wryvan victor is probably a redditor and wanna feel cool
@@pudinkeviar4151 do not slander me like this please
@@Wryvan he likes minors
@@shamefulbrainbot4742 he isn't💀 (at least not anymore after being reborn as aqua)
Yes the idol culture itself is also the problem, the agencies specifically targeting the fans parasocial relationship to make money, they don't commercialize their idols as people with talents, but as an object to worship and fall in love to
hence the name "idol". It's literally a seperate band of entertainment from that of actors, musicians, models, etc.
Unfortunately, not even specifically an idol culture problem. This is a pretty rampant problem in the Japanese entertainment industry and Asian entertainment as well. Japanese voice actors, male and female, tend to hide their relationships as well. Not as horrific as the idol industry, but it's there.
The scariest part of this anime is that mindset on that stalker is real…some people feel when they say or do something they get some obligation from a person which is not the case
A lot of Oshi no Ko is inspired by real life. Ai's death is inspired by Mayu Tomita getting stabbed by a stalker. Thankfully, didn't die, but severely wounded with permanent injuries.
@@andrewli6606 I don’t doubt that sadly..I always found it weird how humans hold other humans on another standard based on one’s success.
what a way to start an anime from the trailers I did not expect to be punched in the gut that hard by ai's death
Thanks anime 🫠
such a wholesome cutesy slice of life show designed to take a slice out of your life
The rest of the episodes are normal length and focus on Aqua and Ruby. They made the first episode this long because it really was a prologue to the main story.
If this had been 3-4 regular episodes, it would feel like the show couldn't decide what kind of story it wanted to tell and then just killed off the "main" character a quarter of the way through the season.
yeah... after watching so many people reaction of this episode, the same question they all ask is "Where is this going?" until they saw Ai's death...
Yeah, Ai dies in chapter 9. Up until that point, for 9 weeks, readers were kind of confused on what the premise really was. I was only reading cause it was Akasaka and I had faith in him.
I went into this one blind, too, and it deserves some sort of award for "Okay that was NOT what I was expecting."
15:27 "It'd be really sad if Ai didn't make it." Very poor choice of words. Happy to see you are reacting to this, love the show so far. If you are looking for more bangers, I wholeheartedly recommend "Heavenly Delusion" (Tengoku Daimakyou). It's a post-apocalyptic show filled with mysteries and movie quality animation. Imagine anime Last of Us, but with plot-twists and dozens of unaswered questions that keep you invested. Would love to see you react to it, if you have the time.
Loved the reaction, can't wait to see the next ones! 💯 Also, not sure if you just didn't add it, but in case you missed it, there was a short post credit scene at the very end of the episode, it's quite wholesome and sad because of how everything ended, but you should totally check it out! 👍
I'm hooked. The only other new show that hit me like this was the latest Gundam's Prologue and this hit me so much harder because of how real an issue stalker fanatics are.
Good video Ashe Thanks for your thoughts and especially about parasocial relations, it was interesting ! Thank you so much for this reaction !
There was Post-credit scene too in this Episode.
Please watch it aswell
Props to the writer for the guts and boldness in exposing the toxic parasocial relationship and exploitative work-ethics that the Idol Industry is based upon. Especially in a conservative/closed society like Japan.
It's been a while since I cried for a fictional character😢
Aka Akasaka is a genius
This is why nobody should make assumptions with Aka Akasaka's work from the cover/first few volumes/episodes. Kaguya Sama similiarly has its twists and turns (albeit not as extreme as Oshi No Ko) as well as parodying common tropes within rom-com (especially as the Manga and/or Anime goes on).
yay! loved your reaction! I hope you'll consider continuing kaguya-sama some day :) It's nothing like this show, but similar serious and real themes slowly inch their way into the story as time goes on. Obviously got a small taste of it with the final Fireworks episode in season 1.
It makes me sad when Ruby said goodbye to Ai's picture before going to school
Growing up, I always say goodbye to my mom before going to school and even now, I always call my mom to say I'm off to work before actually going. It pains me to know that one day, I might also have to say goodbye to a picture of my mom😢
there was a post-credit scene
Thank you for doing this! Very sad so far.
Yeah, it never holds back on the disgusting nature of some of these industries, how people view others within entertainment, deranged behaviors and just how much social media effects someone reading it
the anime was literally number 1 on MyAnimeList
I guess the reactor put it in a pretty blunt way in the end about how the stars don't really care about the fans on a personal level, but it's probably quite true in her eyes. And you may even argue that this story reflects a problem of this whole modern era, which sometimes presents people with really twisted, cold and impersonal ways of existence ("twisted" in the sense that it's far from how the small hunter-gatherer communities tens of thousands of years ago used to live, thus not that conforming to the "human nature" that's within us). IMO everybody in this story is a victim of the system, including the stalker to some extent, whom the industry deliberately sold disgusting and twisted lies to in order to subsist his pretty sad life in this modern, cold world. If anybody is the most "villainous" in the story, it's probably the mastermind behind it all (i.e. who Aqua assumes to be their father), and the power that be that reaps the maximum reward from such an exploitative structure.
Japanese otaku idol fans are a different breed. Not all obviously, but some. Japanese media needs to criticize them more, let these idols live their lives.
Rie Takahashi last line in this episode is really something...
"Ah... I finally said it..."
😢😢😢
I'm curious to see if the TV-size version of the OP includes the last verse. If it does, we're going to have to hear Ai's last words every week 😭
@@ben-san9677 It did not. That'd be too heartbreaking honestly.
What the heck this one goes crazy
aahh you skip the final snif snif
but I'm glad you watched this anime
This one i the same author of kaguya-sama
Peak story
Nice
😞💔
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I just skip that whole stabbing scene whenever I watch any Reaction video of Oshi No Ko bcz I know if I will watch it then it will depress me again
最後の最後の一番感動する動画、無くて残念。
The last and most important video is missing.
It was a disappointing video.
She deserved to die just for naming that boy AQUAMARINE
What kind of take is that 💀 it’s just a name
