    Cruise control has saved me from more than one ticket, I had a CHP follow me for miles and I could stay spot on the speed limit without stressing or looking at the speedometer. Kinda keeps you in check when you daydream then look down and you're cruising 90 without trying.

      Same here. In sport mode the throttle is very responsive (can be twitcher), which could get you over the speed limit very easy, and reason for the cop behind to pull you over.

      30.7 on this bike feels higher than the tiger sport. I can flat foot the tiger, whereas I can flat 1 foot and the other is ball of foot on this one . This is due to the shape of the seat. This bike is bloody aggressive and encourages you to wheelie etc. Not a beginner bike by any means! I chose the Sportster S instead because it doesn't give you that devil on your shoulders whispering: c'on, is this all you've got? Lol.
      Plus that riding position is very uncomfortable for me even compared to my previous z1000sx

The RZ350 was probably my favorite daily rider and really enjoyed seeing you review your old Duke 950 and Dave. I can find tons of new bike reviews but how about a first gen CBR900RR, or an RC51, first gen R1, Ducati 916, Kawasaki H1, 70's CB750, Suzuki Turbo XN85...so many that would be cool since there are no reviews for any in this medium. Maybe a new segment Retro Daily Rider. Been really enjoying your content!

    I really REALLY love my 2019 FTR S. I actually like the weird big wheels and oddball tires (though I’ll probably put Dunlop Trailmax MIssions on it when the time comes). I absolutely love the overall look, and you definitely won’t see yourself coming and going, that’s for damn sure. I’ve literally never seen another FTR while out and about in my midsize town. Re the design, it definitely is just its own thing: power cruiser, stretched naked, heavy scrambler - who can say?
    Thinking about putting slightly higher bars on mine and making it a bit more like the newer Rally models. I also toy with putting a different silencer on (S&S probably) for just a bit more sound, but it would look worse. Honestly I think the stock pipes and silencers look amazing. They fit the bike so well. I’m not sure why people seem to hate them, aside from they sound a little tame (this coming from a guy who is not a fan of really agressive exhaust sound), but looks-wise they match the bike, IMO.
    Range is definitely poor. It’s basically a fill-up per ride, or every other at best. Pre-2022 models do broil your thighs, summer or winter, so cylinder deactivation would be nice. Re switchgear, it’s generally very good, but I find that with thicker winter gloves I’m constantly accidentally flashing the high beams when manipulating the controls. I’ve toyed with clipping off a bit of the end of that trigger switch.
    Re shifting, I actually don’t miss a quick shifter (probably because my quick shifter bike is a BMW GSA, so not a smooth thing at all). My 2019 FTR upshifts like butter with just a bit of preload on the shifter lever. Barely have to disengage the clutch. Also manually blips down REALLY nicely (maybe due to slipper clutch and flywheel (?)).

    Being an XSR owner, the new FTR is all of the things that I like/ have upgraded my ride to do. You really can't go wrong with that setup. I do wish that the horsepower and torque was a little bit more spicy though. For something that weighs 530 pounds with gas in it that means that your 0 to 60 time is going to be in the mid 3 seconds, that is slower than a thruxton R in 2016, and the 2020 and before MT-09/XSR//Tracer.
    Excited to see where they go with this, but think that the UJMs and KTM are still owning the intermediate/advanced naked category as far as performance goes.

    I had considered a prior year FTR, hoping it would make a great all-arounder, but it was way too tall for my short legs. I wasn't crazy about the tires either since I'm a road-only rider. Perhaps Indian finally realized people weren't buying these to use as adventure bikes, and turned the bike into more of a naked sportbike, and it looks like the results are very good. I really like the bike, but the first upgrade I would make is install the Zard full exhaust with the "snake" pipes, the system with all the welds showing, a work of art. I saw images of it on the Zard website and man, it is absolutely awesome looking. I don't know how much more power it produces over the Ackro system, but Zard claims a healthy increase. Again, great riding review and you ticked all the boxes that I need to know about this machine, eh, except for the above shock question.

    Along the lines of the cafeish flat tracker classic stuff. I would love to see you get out on the z900rs cafe. Everything I see says it’s fantastic but it doesn’t really get much of a spotlight. I want an honest review and to see how it compares against other bikes not Necessarily in the same class.

    Awesome looking bike. At 5'11" not sure my knees would be comfortable on a long ride.
    I could also go for a little more fuel capacity.

    I'd be really interested in a back-to-back of FTR vs Speed Triple. I feel like they're aimed at different niches, but realistically fit the same rider.

      I agree and own an 09 Speed Triple. I’m interested in the FTR but I don’t think I’d go for one. My bike doesn’t make that much less torque and it makes more horsepower.

    Hi Zach, I agree with you 100% that this bike needs a gearing change. When I rode one I had the same feeling at freeway speeds. This was not relaxing to say the least. I followed up my test ride with a Roadmaster 111 which was more relaxing at freeway speeds . It all depends upon what a rider is looking for, right?

    +some addons made it more expensive than the Carbon.
    so i pre-ordered the Carbon.
    i hope it comes in the next few weeks.
    will most likely get the First one in Belgium !!

    As a HD XR1200 owner, I have been drooling over that FTR1200 since launch, I just dont have the money right now to make the move, that thing is a Dream for me as a AFT fan, seeing the Wrecking Crew 750s dominate the last 3 seasons, and Jared Mees is a BAMF, HD F-ed up bad by not making a road going XR750, or the Bronx.

      Indian over harley all day long for US bikes.
      It's not harley bikes that's the problem, it's the people that ride em. Gross.

      Because it’s Indian you say it’s progressive and market aware? 🤡
      Sorry to break it to you bud, Harley released the FXDR with the soft tail line up. It’s the same bike and guess what? Market didn’t want it 🤡 sssssssssssimp

    • @ragerider6283
      @ragerider6283 3 роки тому +8

      @@cozzy6547 Sorry to burst your Harley bubble but the FTR IS far more market aware & progressive than the FXDR & actually quite different because it's attempting to emulate the very popular European nakeds with it's ergonomics & equipment etc while still retaining a unique American identity. Harley did a Harley version of a super naked with the FXDR but it was way off & didn't fit the US or European markets well, hence why it wasn't popular I would guess. It's heavier, less powerful, more expensive & has inferior components to the FTR so I'm not saying because it's an Indian, I'm saying because it's obvious.

    • @BladedAngel
      @BladedAngel Рік тому +1

      @@ragerider6283 I own an FXDR and this comparison feels off. It is not a naked at all, was meant to be a Muscle Cruiser like the ol Night Rods were, it fits the niche fine. The New Sportster S is more of Harley's "Naked" and I say that with Air Quotes since that bike still has a plethora of issues. Main bonus, liquid cooled fantastic Revolution Twin...paired to an otherwise lackluster bike for the price combined with lack of market self awareness of who will be buying it. The Sportster S Needs more rear travel and height, needs closer front forks, needs thinner front tire, needs dual disc front..then it'll actually be a great bike in it's class and for the money. Missing out on one thing is fine, but 4 major things? Harley definitely still dropped the ball. If I didn't buy a Night Rod or my FXDR used, I don't think I'd really ever look at Harleys for the money. I've owned and ridden things from Honda Supercubs, to Royal Enfields, and Ninja ZX10Rs, but no other bike has me questioning the money I just spent other than Harleys. The Night Rod was a great bike, Porsche sure did a good job, like Hell I'm patting HD on the back for that one. The FXDR isn't a bad bike, but to say it's a worthy successor would be doing it too much justice...I've got mine to 160mph and yes it accelerates to 60 under 3 seconds, but then she runs out legs around 100 and falls flat on her face going north of 130mph. For $15K used? I love the FXDR. If I bought it new? Yeahhhhh rightttttttttttttttt. So I can see why Harley didn't move many of these off the New Dealership floors...

    Restricted licenses on motorcycles are often based on power to weight. For light MC here (Swe) where I live its 11kw or roughly 15 hp, max 125 cc. Then I think we got mid, where you can have any bike but it will have to be restricted. About 40 or so hp, with an asterix on power to weight ratio limit as well. So you cant get a super light bike with 40 hp. Then at 24 you can have anything. If you've had a light or mid tier license for 2 years, you can get a heavy (unrestricted bike) at the age of 20.

    Oz and UK and Euro restricted 47bhp models by all the manufacturers can be retro upgraded to full power spec by the official dealers for a minimal set price service charge.
    Pretty good idea imo, pass your test, get your new license, keep the same bike.
