Fun fact: Lara adjusting her gloves at the beginning of her first verse is actually her idle animation, implying she was bored during Indiana’s verse
I swear to God, these guys think of everything!! 😭
doesn't imply nothing, you're reaching terribly
@@KoospiYT you're downplaying the effort put in erb videos.
@@KoospiYT Nah ERB always does that. When the opponent is rapping the other opponents always looks bored
@@thedead073 well Indiana Jones looked actually defeated at some of her lines.
We won. The fans won. This battle was nothing but straight fire.
Honestly facts
Legit. Another all time classic from ERB!
It’s rare that I actually can’t decide a winner, but this battle was so hard lol
@@zigzagintrusionreally? I felt like Lara absolutely dominated
“Guess you couldn’t tap that X in time” is already awesome enough, dissing on QTE. But there’s a double-meaning: “Couldn’t tap that EX in time.” Makes it truly savage
Oh wow I didn’t even think about the other meaning, that just made it so much better
What the hell... he won.
Yesssssssss you did itttttttt❤️❤️💪💪💪
Agreed this battle was close af but I gotta give it to Indiana Jones
I caught that too 😁double meaning
The way Scru's face just fell in shock at the "Your dad was never present" line will never fail to crack me up 😂
For real, his face goes from laughing at the Halloween costume line to just utter shock
and how he just kept listening with his mouth wide open as she kept flaming and flaming lmao, she went so hard he lost the ability to speak
When she said "you're whole story got blown up on a sitcom" she wasn't just saying big bang randomly. There was an episode of big bang theory where the guys basically come to the realization that nothing indy did in Raiders mattered and if you just removed him from the movie completely the exact same thing would've happened to the nazis lmao
That hits so much harder now that I remember that episode
Even better, the Ark would have been brought back to Germany and a certain someone would have made a big deal about opening it in front of his armies. If anything, Dr. Jones made it worse.
Amy told Sheldon, then he ruined it for everybody else 😂
I thought Lara was talking about the Young Indiana Jones series on CBS.
@@John-tn7nm I thought that at first too before I remembered that episode of Big Bang Theory lol
Maybe double entendre but I don't really think that young indy was really a sitcom
Indy truly does manufacture his own problems with the way the plot plays out.
7:53 The “chose poorly” line from Lara was a reference to Indiana Jones 3 when that guy drank the wrong holy grail and died, and the Knight said “He chose…poorly.”
Actually the line is, "He did not choose wisely."
@@generalmoonstone
I'm sorry but you're incorrect.
At 1:53:26, the knight says "He chose...poorly."
Then at 1:54:11 after Indy drinks from the Grail he says "You have chosen Wisely."

I love how high pitched Scru got with "She didn't look 15!" 😆Same way Indiana would sound getting statutory charges. 💀

I think it was heat stroke, not food poisoning, but the p[int still stands
Yup it definitely was food poisoning. The swordsman actor was upset about getting shot because he spent a great deal of time practicing his sword scene.

Great Commentary as usual. Just a note, Marion was not 15 in Raiders of the lost ark, she was 25, but they talk about having had a relationship prior to this movie ten years earlier... Inday said "I never meant to hurt you" and she said "I was a child I was in love", yes Indy was having a relationship with her when she was only 15
Nobody was talking about Marion being 15 years old in raiders, she was talking about marion being 15 years old 10 years before raiders when Indiana Jones first had sex with her at that age as it was stated in the movie and you know this yet you're pretending not to know these things, Seriously what is wrong with you people it's pretty evident what she was talking about, yet you people are so stupid and slow here at the comment section.

@@TheMariusDarkwolf I have some serious concerns about the fact that thought that made it any better... 😳
That "Marion was 15 when you raided her bones, that's no time for love dr. Jones" line hits "At least when I Slytherin a sister, she isn't mine" level for me. What a battle.....

1. _"You're such a toxic date you could kill a little monkey"_ is a reference to Raiders of the Lost Ark. A monkey eats from a bowl of poisoned dates (a type of fruit) and dies.
2. _"Marion was 15 when you raided her bones"_ She was not 15 in the movie, their backstory is that they dated each other 10 years ago and broke up. Apparently the original script implies she was 15 when they first met, but her age is not stated in the movie, and her age in the books is inconsistent.
3. _"They dropped you like a J in the floor"_ In The Last Crusade, Indy has to step on floor tiles that spell out "Jehovah" to get across a temple. He first tries stepping on the J, but the floor breaks and he nearly falls in a pit, because in Latin, "Iehovah" is spelled with an I.
4. _"Strap some blocks on Short Round and pump the brakes."_ In Temple of Doom, Short Round drives a car. He has blocks tied to his feet so that he can reach the brake pedal.
I think it's because Marion is supposed to be 25 in Raiders but I don't think her age is ever said in the film. The whole relationship thing was also the actresses idea as well I believe.
@@swanchamp5136 Yeah, her age isn't stated in the film.
If you look up the script online, you'll find one that says she's "25", but that's just an early draft, in which most of the characters have different names or are described differently.
The relationship was George Lucas's idea. His first suggestion was 11. The reason is because Indiana Jones was originally conceived as a morally-dubious anti-hero, but that idea was toned-down during development.
5. *The only overshadowed this is that face* She makes another reference just before and soon after that his face looks melted at this point. The "overshadow" is the incredible amount of makeup (shadow) they have to put him in and a secondary diss that he's overrated
Also, "You're not John Williams so you ain't scoring" is taking the previous line and then deflating the "first four notes of my theme" bar basically saying "Why are you taking credit for your theme? I'm rapping against YOU"
"you're a dog Indiana" because Indiana Jones' real name is Henry but he didn't like his own name so he named himself after his dog Indiana in the series
@@SmeltonPerkins Damn I didn't catch that one at all

Agreed!!!
The fact that Indiana went so damn hard, hard enough for a double don, and Lara STILL not only matched him but arguably won is absolutely incredible.
1.I love that both the beat and the voices feel "subdued". They don't need to yell or be flashy to get the job done
2. Loved Lara switching between her various outfits over the years
3. I was half expecting Nathan to show up as a suprise third member when they mentioned him.
in the behind the scenes, they mention that they originally HAD Nate come in for a few lines after he was name dropped, but they scrapped it. I'm sad they did
@@ATPokemon disappointed 😞

@@ATPokemon I really liked their idea but I also totally agree with them cutting it, it really derails the pacing of the battle and it would be really hard to bring it back to the strength of the first two verses afterwards
"If you came for blood, SHE CAME FOR PLASMA" made me choke. Great reaction.
The "Marion was 15" line is a reference to a line in Raiders where Marion said "I was a child! I was in love!" at the start of the bar scene in Nepal where Marion punches Indy when he comes back after leaving her for years.

For me it was Lara-it was the constant rebuttals when Indy should have had it (he left himself open too much, the perils of going first)
Edit: also, Lara’s “You’re not John Williams-you ain’t scoring” is a rebuttal to Indy’s R1 “first 4 notes” bar
For me, this battle goes to Lara. That "Marion was 15 when you raided her bones, 'That's no time for Love, Dr. Jones!'" is the sort of line that would end someone's whole career, and her second round she came at him even harder!! "At best the affection you got was sloppy seconds" came for Jones' entire soul!
Yep. I was waiting for that Marion bar because I knew that would end the battle once it dropped.

Indiana had the best rapping but Lara hit harder lines with the "Marion 15" and the "sloppy seconds" line.
Like he hit hard against her image, reputation and casualties, but dude, those 2 lines from Lara where just a punch to the fucking soul.
the kill the monkey line was from raiders. The monkey ate dates that had been poisoned with the intent of killing IJ.
The 'J in the floor' line was in movie 3, when IJ forgot the letter J in Hebrew is Y, and stepped on J, nearly dropping through the collapsible trap floor.
I gave it to Lara Croft. But not by much. She had the finisher.
"But in Latin, Jehovah starts with an I!"
Could also be a double meaning also referring to the song "On the Floor" by JLo
Sallah: bad dates
The John Williams not scoring was a great rebuttal. He said first 4 notes of his entrance music accomplished more then anything she's ever done.
"You're crazy. I don't want it"
Rebuttal: "oh yeah? Well you can't have it"
She played herself for being a sex icon that's unattractive.
What a great, evenly matched battle. Croix did a great job as Lara and I really liked Peter's Harrison Ford impression, and I thought the background imagery actually was among the best of any ERB.

They're starting off this season HARD. Glad we're here breaking it down and catching so many fire bars.
I'm sure you've noticed these if you've listened again but two notes from the video: Laura's line about "not scoring" was a rebuttal to Indy saying the first four notes of his theme are all he needs, but she shot that down as not even his doing. Then Indy's bar about Square dropping Laura is from, "But in the Latin alphabet, Jehovah is spelled with an I!" #LoveAndPeace #AndBars

Man...this whole ERB series you have done is a gift to the public. I swear if someone's in a bad mood and they watch one of these, they'll bounce back. Keep it up dude. Positive energy spreads
I feel like Indy was better overall. Lara had a weaker round one, but a stronger round 2 imo. But still, both were awesome.

Nah lara's round 1 smoked indy's. That "raided her tomb" line won her that round.
@@ds22342 Nah the gave you up for adoption was better then that one
I'm tempted to give it to Lara just for Indy's atrocious flow. 'Sides, I think they were even in Round 1: Marion, not scoring, Big Bang, choose poorly? Those are solid hits.
@@HowlingWolf518 Indiana jones had 2 solid lines too. The adoption line and the press that x in time line
"That's no time for love, Dr. Jones!" Is a double Don DeMarco when you incorporate that line was from Ke Huy Quan in Temple of Doom when he plays Indy's child sidekick. The scene is him feeling up the character Willie Scot (for the antidote of poison I might add) but that was the joke in the movie. So the fact the line was delivered by a child in the movie in a scene already about a joke about Indy getting frisky with a lady in front of a child makes it a double whammy!

In "last Crusade" there was a trap corridor were Indy had to jump on lettered tiles spelling out something. Unfortunately the modern spelling of the word started with a J, but the word in history started with an I. Indy stepped on the J tile and almost fell through.
Fun fact: They sold Tomb Raider but they kept Gex
the "Killed the monkey" was actually from EP1: Raiders of the Lost Ark when Indy and his friend are with a translator to translate the Medalion. When they first go to Cairo they encounter a little monkey that turns out to be a spy's pet. the Spy tried killing Indy by Poisoning the Dates that were served to Indy and his friend while they were with the Translator. The monkey got into the Dates by accident before they did and unfortunately died which Indy's friend saw which allowed him to save Indy before he could pop one in his mouth. Right after he caught the Date they both see the Monkey's corpse and Indy's friend simply responds with, "Bad dates". so when she makes that punchline, it's based off of that XD

The "You're such a toxic date, you could kill a monkey" is specifically from Raiders of the Lost Ark. There was a spy who was tailing Indy, and he had a monkey who would report back. An assassin got into the house where Indy was staying, and poured poison all over a bowl of dates on the table. Indy almost ate one, but Sallah saw that the monkey had eaten one first and died.
J on the floor was from Last Crusade - Indy had to step on stones to spell Jehovah, but in Latin, it starts with an I, not a J, so that stone was fake and his leg fell through the floor.

Did you know that during the sword VS gun scene in Raiders Of The Lost Ark, there was supposed to be a proper fight scene. But Harrison Ford had food poisoning and just couldn't be bothered. So he ad libbed the gun thing, the swordsman rolled with it, and it was so in line with Indy's character they just kept it in. One of the most hilarious scenes in movie history, all because the actor was touching cloth.
Lara: “Marion was 15 when you raided her bones.”
Indiana: “She… told me she was 30 and petite…”
I honestly thought Indiana won the first, but Lara croft absolutely took it, then I was doubtful at the start of round two for Indiana, but he quickly showed that he can win round two...that is until Lara showed up again and honestly, she really did own him in this rap...i can still feel the punches from her hits

Easily one of the best ERB's in the history of the channel. Every line was great.
The John Williams line is also a rebuttals since Indiana was talking about how his soundtrack beats Croft’s
Indy's first verse is the best part of this battle. His flow disses and delivery couldn't be beat by even his second verse. That Mutt line by Lara was funny though
Every time I rewatch this I find something new. Just found out that not only did Laura rebuttal the Indianaconda line, but she did it exactly on the same bar as Indiana Jones' diss
10:17 this is in reference to a scene in the last crusader, when Indy had to step on a sequence of tiles with letters that are supposed to spell "Jehova". He was supposed to spell it "Iehova" and stepped on J and almost fell to his death.

So, after a little googling and consulting the Indiana James fandom wiki, it appears originally Marion was 25 in Raiders. This would indeed make her 15 when she first encountered then a 27-year-old Indiana ten years prior. I don't recall if it was ever made explicitly clear what kind of relationship it was. This was also around 1925 so I don't know the views on relationships were with minors, if that matters. It should be noted also that in the special edition re-release, they changed her birthday to 1909, making her about 27 at the time of Raiders.
There's lots of conflicting dates:
The screenplay available online says she is 25, which would make her 15. But it's an earlier draft from 1979 which is very different from the final film. All the characters are described completely differently.
The final shooting script is not online so we can't find out what it says.
I've heard that at some point during production, the decided she was 17.
The birthday listed on the Wiki would mean she was 17 in 1926.
There's some prequel book which has them first meet and get together in 1925, making her 16.
There's a guide book that says they first met in 1920, making her 11, but it doesn't say that's when the relationship started, and the book was de-canonized anyway.
Karen Allen herself was 28 during filming, which would have made her 18. (This is what I prefer to believe)
The film itself never states her age. All we know is that the film is set in 1936, their relationship was "10 years ago", and Marion says "I was a child, I was in love".
Laras rhyme scheme was so good and the costume changes were on point
Marion wasn't 15 in the movie, but they had known each other before the events of the movie. They have a conversation like "I was just a girl, I was in love" and he said "you knew what you were doing." I believe he was in grad school and the math works out she was just 15.
The date line was about the first movie where someone tries to poison Indy with a date, and the monkey dies eating it first.
The dad "sloppy seconds" bar wasn't just about him not being there, it was also about how in The Last Crusade they both sleep with the same woman who turned out to be a Nazi spy, and Indy's dad Sean Connery was the one who hit it first.
Then the dog line is in reference to how Indiana chose his nickname after his childhood dog he loved, his real name being Henry Jones Jr. His dad Sean Connery revealed that in The Last Crusade and he got made fun of by his friend for it.
If you tie in those last two bars I listed with the rhyme scheme and the bars you did catch, Lara won this battle easily. They were fairly even the first round, though I still give it to Lara for that Marion bar. But that last verse she was rapping rapping _and_ punching nearly twice every bar, Indy got cooked there.
The big bang line has another meaning Scru, in an episode, one of the characters say that the whole storyline wouldn't work and that Indiana Jones' actions were completely unnecessary in the context of the story(search it up on YT, there should be snippets) and they try to disprove that statement but they fail.
There was one difference. Jones was there to pick up the Ark when all was said and done. Nazis got melted and merced, and the Ark got dumped into the biggest pit of obscurity available.
When Lara mentioned that Marion was 15, she's referring to when they first had a romantic relationship 10 years before the first film took place.
In the first film, she was 25, and she said their romance was 10 years prior
So hence, she was 15
I can't believe this erb is this good. That lara last verse is INSANE
"SHE DIDN'T LOOK FIFTEEN!"
"Yea, yea, tell it to the Judge R Kelly."
Lucas had to be talked up to 15. He originally suggested like 11-12 years old during the story meeting.
The fuck? That's messed up.
🤢🤮 Ugh! 11-12!? That ain’t right!
He also wanted Indy to be more of a piece of shit in general.
Saw the battle last night and was excited to see your reaction and breakdown
I gave it to Lara myself. Indy hit hard but Lara always seemed prepared to rebut the hardest disses he offered... then she just buried him with the last verse. I think Indy would have won 90% of the rap battles with that performance but he just couldn't knock her out :)
I'd have to go with Indy. He hit hard in both of his rounds and was consistent with it. Lara though, while she dropped some hurting bombs, had some mixed verses that didn't quite land, which cost her the win.
@@vicenzostella1390 I don't blame anyone picking Indy either. I think Scru was right when he said it was close.
In fact I do wonder if I would have gone the other way if Indy had finished with the last verse. A lot of it in my mind was her really strong finish.
These things are always so much fun!
I’ll admit, I personally think Winston Churchill vs Teddy Roosevelt is the only tie in ERB. This however is close. I need to react to the battle more. Maybe more reaction to this.
THANK YOU FOR CATCHING THAT BAR! "you can rise all you, I'm still out of reach", no other reactionary youtuber has caught that. Stellar, fam.
1. "Toxic date could kill a little monkey," Raiders, when the monkey eats the poison date, and dies instead of indie.
2. "Too many voices," referring to Lara having, I think if I remember, 7 different voices in movies, and games.
3. "Bandicoot, parents plane," referring to Tomb raider getting over taken by Crash Bandicoot.
4. "Marrion was 15," Marrion was NOT 15 in the movies. It was when she first fell in love with Indie. Still creepy though because she was 15 and he was 26...
5. "J in the floor," Last crusade when Indie is trying to spell the name of god, and he chooses the J instead of i
6. "Strap some blocks on short round." In the intro to temple of doom when Short Round drive the get away car but needs blocks to reach the pedels.
The “j in the floor” line was referring to the last crusade indy movie, where jones had to solve a word puzzle on one of the three traps to make it to the holy grail. Basically, he stepped on the letter ‘J’, and he nearly falls to his death after the J crumbles.
"Marion was 15 when you raided her bones." BODY BAG. There's no way Indy could've come back from that. She smoked his boots.
But then he kills her in the next round.
Scru you're one of the few youtubers I've watched since they had barely any subscribers. Love your reactions brother, and I love the fact you barely miss any. At this point it's ritual to watch an ERB a few times and then come to you for clarification on what I've missed haha.
Keep it up man.
Ok so, I loved both of their flows this battle was great! But I have to give it to Lara, the part where she talked about his dad till the end was just I can't even put it into words. Glad the ERB are back because I was just re-watching some of your other rap battle reactions because memories and I was in the mood to.
Off topic but I loved seeing you react to the Harry Potter vs Luke Skywalker again, when you first reacted to it I thought Harry won and after seeing you react to it again... well I still think Harry won. and yeah I probably should comment about this on the actual video, but I think it should be fine.
Love your breakdown, scru! I'm surprised you didn't catch the final lines for Lara:
"You're a dog Indiana that's facts
The only thing you're loyal to is a hat no cap"
Real clean reference to him being named after a dog and always reaching for his hat 😂
Before the battle started he CRACKED the whip then said LETS GET THIS BATTLE CRACKINNN he really did that shit OUT THA GATE ASF
"SHE DIDNT LOOK 15!"
*Last words before the judge hands you your sentence*
Awesome reaction, no one breaks these downs like you do scru, your reactions are top notch and genuine and you break it down like a lyrical MMA fight, keep reacting/ revisiting the ERBS!
To the Marion was 15 line, she wasn’t 15 in the movie, but if you recall, her first reaction on seeing him was to slap the shit out of him, referencing their history. I guess the story was that early in his career, Jones seduced a teenage Marion. It’s an absolutely brutal line, and I was so excited that they called the character out like that because goddamn that’s fucked up.
The battle aside the part where indiana goes "let's cut to the chase oh wait he died, I guess you couldn't tap that x in time" that low tone butter flow was incredible could go a whole verse with that flow and it'd be lit.
6:50 So, Marian was 15 when her and Indy very first met. He worked with her father when Indy was in his early 20s and Marian was 15. They fooled around, she fell in love, and then Indy dipped. It was about 7 years later I think when they met once again in Raiders of the Lost Ark. That's why Marian punches him when he enters the bar because she's been saving it for Indy after what happened between them two.
I think Lara won indi had good bars but that last verse from Lara was 🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️
When ERB drops a new track, first I watch it, then behind the scenes, then what Scru Face says.
You almost had the "J in the floor" line. It was from holy grail: He went to spell (i think it was Jehovah), and stepped on the J tile, but in the hebrew language, the word began with an I. As a result, he almost died in a pit trap.
(edit) also, the face overshadowed is also a reference to the fact he always had a slight beard, aka, a five'o'clock shadow.
Can we give a round of applause for the actress playing Lara? The BTS really shows her skills.
I give it to Indy. Also, did anyone else feel they gave Lara slightly more time in her second round? Just kinda felt that way to me.
It's the beat imo. Indiana's verses are slower and Lara went rapidfire, so it feels (and she did) take more shots in the same ish timeframe.
Yes It kind of feels that way as well.
Indy just rapped slower, but I think that allows the punches to hit harder than rapid fire.
same
Well, Lara does have twin pistols, she can afford to spray and pray. Indy's packing a six-shooter. Gotta aim, takes more skill.
13:28 The way Scru's smile disappeared so quick is hilarious lol
Indy hit hard, but Lara stitched him up and never lost her cool. I got her edging both rounds, but it's really a victory for the culture
7:11 Scru these are not the types of things you want people to have sound bites of you saying 😂😂😂
Lara cooked Jones with that last verse man, im ngl 💀💀💀
Been refreshing waiting for this reaction to drop
Mola Ram's heart chantings of "Maaro maaro sooar ko, chamdi nocho pee lo khoon" literally translated from Hindi is "Kill, Kill the pig, flay his skin, drink his blood".
Lara went OFF in that second verse!
"I'm gonna slightly edge it to Laura" sounds so wrong lmaooo brain rot has ruined me
Lara killed Indiana harder then George Lucas bro
7:30 "you're not John Williams so you ain't scoring" is a response to Indy's line about the first four notes of his theme. She is saying he can't claim the credit for that line.
I've probably watched 2 other people post videos on this, scru you are the only one who caught that kali ma bar so far. Goat of reactions and breakdowns. For me that went to Lara she just unloaded in that second round. Scru you should react to some lil darkie. Personal favorite for me is year of the cap. But keep up the vids much love scru
Perfect timing.
Was just watching some of your old reactions to ERB
Been waiting since it came out 🔥 Indy won imo “ let’s cut to the chase , oh wait he died guess you couldn’t tap that x in time” then the whole plane crash crash bandicoot scheme plus the uncharted bit nah Indy won bro I like that she tried the dad angle but she doesn’t have parents at all so how she gonna talk about his 🤣
Scru, you missed the toxic date bar! I think it was Raiders, but there was a scene where someone tries to kill Indy with a poisoned date (like the fruit), but a monkey eats them before Indy and dies which is how Indy found out that they were poisoned!
