Maybe it's just me, but based on how poorly hot glue responds to temperature extremes and rapid temp changes, I'd be using wood glue (& maybe pop in a cpl brad nails...if I had a pneumatic nailer! haha), especially if these are going to be used as porch sitters. It gets cold where I am, though, so perhaps less of a problem for fall decor in the south.
Actually I'm making a batch right now for this next craft show and that's a good point I'm going to stop using hot glue on some of the crafts I do because of that thanks for watching
@@jeffmath2411 yeah the pine would probably be a little cheaper too where I'm at it was cedar or treated I didn't see any pine that weren't treated but thanks for watching
You could always do it on a router, table or table. Saw are even a Jigsaw. Thanks for watching the video now. The dimensions I just split the 2 parts in half and figured out where the middle is. After I do that, I just try to make it so that the tops and bottoms are flush. It takes a few tries and then I use one to trace the rest out.
Just slightly more than half of the material so that it got a nice fit and gravity can hold it together if you don't do more than half then it'll be a little too high and the top won't be flat
@Ricks2Cents It's something I make every year now I'm going to bash them out today cuz I have a craft show in a couple of weeks I think I'm going to make 30 of them
My experience the laser and the cnc just makes things a lot slower maybe the first one but it would be faster to use a bandsaw to cut the notches because setting up on a CNC takes a lot of clamps and making sure you don't run into the clamps and it would take a powerful laser to cut through half inch cedar fence pickets
You could just do a wash with thinned paint instead. Or paint it & distress it. Or layer paint colors and distress with sander. 🤷♀ It doesn't have to be orange stain. (Also, there are many varietals of pumpkins in many different colors. These don't even have to be orange.)
Good idea (the folding option). Makes storage very simple
Thanks 😊
I did enjoy making this pumpkins but I used router for notches.
There's many ways and that seems like a better way 😆

Good video and job thx for sharing enjoyed it
Thanks for watching I was trying to remove some music from my videos What do you think Is it easier to follow without the music?
@@CraftedbyRay yes
Great idea!
Thanks 😊
Looks good , I love them 😍
Thanks 😊
Awesome video. Curious Pine Picket fence is another good option. Cedar pickets aren’t easy to find in my area (Rhode island)

Hi thank you
Hi your welcome 🙂
Good Video. Videos without music are better.
Thank you 😊
I just love your pumpkins. How can you cut the notch if you don’t have a band saw and also what are the dimensions for the notches?

Is there a template?
How do you like the WEN Bandsaw? I just purchased the 16" Scroll Saw
I use the bandsaw a lot and no problem I like it a lot
Having trouble with mine. Think a new blade will help
Would it be easier to mortiser to cut the square end.
Possibly, I just went with the way that I've been making it before. And that's how I did but thanks for watching.🙂

*If you cut them on a Laser or CNC you*
*Should be able to match them out Really Fast!!!*

Were these fence pickets pressure treated ? Also are they 4 or 6in wide ?
No not treated and 6in wide
What stain did you get? My wife couldn’t find stain at HD and grabbed a can of paint
I could not find it at home depot I went to lowe's
That was the only place I could find taintable stains it's like Fiesta orange

how deep do you cut the notches?
It was half the thickness of the next one so that they interlocked I can't quite remember the size
How deep is the notch
It is about half If you're a little over As long as you're on the flat surface it'll be OK
@@CraftedbyRay thx
Curious how much did you sell that set?
@@chuckgarrett5789 I sold out at $15.00 a set I'm not sure if I want a little too low but I feel like it was a good profit
