  • This rod is a Lamiglas 6640 blank built as an acid wrap guide layout. The dynamics of the rod are explained as well as the reasons behind building with this style guide progression. It is built for a wide variety of styles from live lining to deep wreck fishing with weights in the 20-30 oz range plus bait. Call the shop for inquiries 631 239-1631

Thanks to Cow Harbor Bait & Tackle for posting this.
After the stripper, IMHO only two transition guides needed, set at 60 degrees each.
This the video that aided me into finalizing my own design which LOOKS much much better due to more traditional guide spacing, and TROLLS with the guides either on top, or bottom.
That blank has too much flex in the thick end for me, but then, I am a Pacific Offshore type of fisherman.

Raymond, the guide layout is for fishing heavy weights to decrease wear on three guides, so I experimented with this particular blank. I also make the traditional acid wrap for fishing lighter weights from 6 or less using only 3 guides. I feel you have to experiment with the rods to achieve particular situations for fishing. Froggin Hawgs, this is not for freshwater fishing, this is a deep water rod using 20 ounces weights or more.

Guides should wrap opposite of the reel handle. Also, recommended to complete the spiral by the 3rd or 4th guide. But custom rods are built to suit the user.

depends on how rod was manufactured. only rod i would spiral wrap on left would be a united composites or USAgraphite because the rods are constructed double helix. most rods, besides solid blanks, have a rotational spine and that is usually strongest in the direction that would be on right side of rod. if torque is applied to opposite direction the blank would explode.

When guides go left to right wouldn’t that be for a left hand reel ???

Wouldn't the spine being on the too cause the rod to break when fighting a fish? Or no i don't know that's why im asking

Tanner Virden, the spine will be fine with this type of layout. It's test proven with large weights and deep water jigging.

Would it matter which ways the guides start to turn on the rod

Opposite of your reel handle works best.
