Jan 2024- Your video was very helpful. I just finished taking my carburetor off and cleaned it as well thanks to your videos. Excellent work!! Thank you.

Thank you for creating this video. My snowthrower had been dead for a few years. A $20 replacement carburetor from Amazon and a couple of hours of my time, and it fired right up on the first pull. Bring on the snow!!!

A few seasons ago I brought mine to a small engine repair that was just opened. When the guy finally called it was done he told me he spent like 8 hours trying to figure out how to get at the carburetor and clean it out. I can see why now. What a job...I tipped him accordingly. Even after seeing the vid I'm not sure I want to take this on? Thanks for taking the time to make this.
Thanks Brother! What a fantastic help. Bought a carburator from Amazon for $13 and it's working well. After all this trouble, I now realize how important non-oxygenated fuel and stabilizer is to keeping the Jets clean and the float from sticking.
It’s sad how inaccessible the carbs are on these new models old Troy bilt you could get to the carb from two screws and it’s off, thank you for the video!
Troy Bilt Engineers: ok, here is a carburetor. What can build around this thing? I have this same machine and for 8 years it’s been a tank. I think o have some varnish to clean out of the carb - she’s just not cooperating. So glad I found this video! Thank you!

Thank you! Wonderful video and very appreciated. It's really sad that this machine like so many others has been engineered by the manufacturer to make it needlessly difficult for a layperson to work on it and, IMO, also engineered to require professional servicing and possibly expensive carb replacements every couple years - No fuel cut-off valve or easy way to add one (even though they cost less than $10). No easy way to drain the fuel tank. No easy way to access the carb to drop the bowl and clean it. So, the carb is pretty much guaranteed to foul over summer or multi-season storage from ethanol fuel even if the owner uses fuel stabilizer. Then, it's an hour + project to take it apart and clean it, hoping the aluminum isn't corroded (replace it if it is), then put it back together, adding time / days if you need a gasket or part. BTW - For anyone that lives in a state that prohibits the sale of non-ethanol fuel at gas stations, you can buy it at small plane airports for ~$5 a gallon. The 'aero gas' is 100 octane, but it won't harm the engine, contains no alcohol, and should help a lot in keeping the carb from fouling. If you live in a transitional climate where you're not using the snow blower a lot, run the engine for 10 minutes or so every month. If you can, drain the tank and run it until it cuts off / the tank is dry after snow season is over, definitely do so.
There is also REC90 ethanol free fuel for RV use. Some states may not sell this. But you can find out online. It's typically priced at the same price as "Premium". Last MUCH longer and doesn't eat up fuel lines/gaskets.
Thank you just what I needed to see. This snowblower is one of the biggest pains in the a$$ I ever purchased, I keep it as a reminder to do my homework before I buy anything. When it works it works fine but the constant fuel and finicky starting issues make it more trouble than any machine I own. I keep hoping it will just blow up one day but it will probably take my leg with it when it does!
Glad I could help and glad it was helpful. Thank you for watching and the kind comment. Please give this video a thumbs up, subscribe if you haven't already and share my channel to help it grow. It would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for the great video, It got my 2620 back running. Last time I used it it was running fine (3 years ago) at that point I let it run out of gas until it shut off. Is this bad or shouldyou put stabilizer in it if it isn't used that much
Glad to hear! and the kind comment. It is very hard to correctly run fuel dry out of any machine. I did use a fuel stabilizer in all snow machines until I found Aspen4 fuel. It is a very pure form of gas that will keep your engine running without all of the bad chemicals in our normal pump gas and will stay fresh in the machine for years. I would suggest stop using the pump gas and switch to Aspen4 so you do not have the issue again. Here is a link to read up on it. It is a great product. www.aspenfuels.com/products/alla/aspen-4/. If you do not want to switch to a better fuel than I absolutely recommend using fuel stabilizer, keep the gas tank full and run your machine for 10 minutes every 45 to 60 days when machine is not in use to make sure it runs good and it will get the fresh fuel from the tank through to the carburetor where gas will start to turn bad in small quantities quickly. Please give this video a like, subscribe if you haven't already and share my channel to help it grow. It would be greatly appreciated :) Thank you for watching.
Amazing! I couldn't do that as well with three hands. My 2620 won't turn more than a few degrees. Removed the valve cover and the exhaust was stuck. It freed up with just a push on the valve stem. The engine will still only turn about 180 degrees. Any suggestions as to what may be going on? Can't rark plug hole.
If you are going to try and rebuild it? This video may help. It is a how to rebuild a carburetor on a similar machine. ua-cam.com/video/_ngK6l6_J7g/v-deo.html
I can't get my choke/run knob to seat properly, and that bracket seems like it moves in and out some. Is there a trick to get that knob to snap back down? And, that same knob adjustment seems to be not the same as before. It's harder to turn, with more pronounced stops. Is that just the new carb I put in, or do you think I did something wrong? I did notice that the whole carb wanted to push forward, most likely due to stiffer/new fuel line. Could that resistance be what's making that stiffer? Thank you for posting. I hope I can figure this out. We are anticipating Lake Effect snow soon, and we need this snowblower to be right. I had fuel in my oil, so instead of trying to take it all apart and try to find the leak, I figured s new carb would save me some headaches. Apparently not.

Anyone have any advice for taking the choke handle off? There’s a notch in it that clips onto the lever, so hitting with a hammer and screw driver isn’t doing it for me :/ Edit: Nevermind! Came at it from the top and shimmied it off!
I will assume you are talking about the throttle lever as you do not take the choke knob off with a hammer. We started using a pair of vise grips and a rag to keep the knob from getting ruined . Clamp it on and pull extremely hard. Be careful you don’t fall on your but. LOL. That being said, Using the hammer and screwdriver does work.

That one is a little hard to diagnose without seeing it. I would first remove all the belts from the front of the motor to make sure that there is nothing binding up the engine. It sounds like it was either stored in a very moist atmosphere and possibly piston rings are frozen two cylinder, or the engine is blowing up or the engine may be seized due to lack of oil. It does sound like like a lubrication though. Maybe I’ll get lucky when you remove the belts in the front the engine will turn over?
@@JohnsonsSmallEngines LOL "lack of lubrication" Thanks! I put some MMO in through the spark plug hole and will change the oil im the a.m.. Again, many thanks. Jim
Sometimes they can be very difficult, I have had to use a long screwdriver and go in from the backside of the knob and hit it with a hammer to loosen it enough to pull it off.

Seems to me it is the deterioration of the fuel line that is causing issues. The carb bowl of mine was chock full of partially dissolved rubber bits.
Wow it is basically disassembling the whole thing. I was supposed to buy a used one like this for cheap which has "carburetor" issues.
