25:50 Kingpin gives Maya a ball-peen hammer, supposedly he keeps it because it reminds him of how he had to kill his father. At least he could have got the right kind of claw hammer that he actually used. (I know his mother got rid of the original murder weapon right after the dad was killed).
Anyhow............. I really wanted to like this series but in the end it was pretty meh. I guess I am glad I watched it because I am a completionist in a way. But I would have been more entertained by re-watching Deadpool for the umpteenth time.

Yeah, I'm a completionist too so I can't imagine NOT watching it, but I wanted to like it more. Meh.

I quite enjoyed the show and I thought there were a ton of interesting elements, but the ending was a pretty big letdown for me. For all of the talk of the MCU creatives wanting to make Kingpin the "Thanos" of the street level MCU like he was in the original Netflix series, his new appearances have been clown-like??
The acting from Vincent is still great, but how are we supposed to feel like he's a threat if he's been so easily defeated in both of his fights against the new characters? Kate Bishop tossed him around like a ragdoll with her exploding arrows, and now Echo just taps her fingers on his chest and hypnotizes him?? It's just so....wacky? He can punch and beat up one time appearance side characters to a bloody pulp, but each time he goes to fight a main character he just.....runs at them and pushes them away? What is going on???

And are we supposed to think that he now has empathy or regret or the knowledge of how bad his activities are? That leads him on a redemption path, which I don't think is a good idea for someone who is supposed to be so gleefully violent and greedy and powerful.

They are doing the same mistake they did with Kang. Setting him up as a big bad, but having every low level characters (first Kate Bishop, then Maya, then Maya again) able to defeat him in a one on one fight. It really pulls the fangs and makes him seem like Sock-Puppet Man will be able to take him down.

I really didn't like this show. I really feel it should've either been a film, like marvel studios first just regular family crime drama film instead of a superhero film like how joker is a drama
    OR
This show should've been after the upcoming daredevil born again series after seeing Maya try to be queenpin in that series. This just feels so complete for the character Maya it feels like a goodbye to her but we barely knew her.

I really didn't like this shows portrayl of Maya. As a fan of the Hawkeye series, the Maya in that show, the comics, and even in ep 1&2 was a different Maya from ep 3,4, & 5. I liked queenpin, middle management of a mafia/gang Maya.
But the more mystical and ho orange her ancestors Maya was too different for me to enjoy. An example is how in Hawkeye Maya was motivated by revenge for the death of her father. In ep 1 and 2 that's still there but also her wanting to takeover fisks empire. Makes sense, she thought she killed him so why not. All part of revenge. But especially in ep 4 and 5 that revenge for her father appears gone and now she is more motivated by her love for her friend Bonnie, estranged grandma, and mom. Shouldn't Maya have seen her dad in ep 5 give her the speech instead of her mom? I see what mar El was going for but imo they needed more time to explore Maya arc or cut out a lot to streamline it and make it a grounded family drama. Imo the mcu common elements bring down this possibly great character study

I didn't like the editing in this. 1st ep is a 28 min recap with reused footage from hawkeye. I don't like that. The editing in the whole series felt so off imo

I'm not particularly fond of the show
They completely changed the characters powers
Why?? Because they were boring according to the writer 😐
I almost died of boredom waiting for something interesting to happen

Yeah, the first whole episode, nothing happens! It's all just back story. I don't get why they changed her powers. There's a lot they could do with the ability to copy someone's fighting style.

      @@OldLadyReacts you get it!
The power to copy one's movement perfectly is such a useful power in pretty much anything!
Idk if that counts for strength or if you can reverse the movement (so you dodge everything)

I really don't know or care anymore about anything with a Disney label in it (yes it's Marvel but it's bought by Disney)
