Starcraft is a lot like chess -make as many queens as possible without losing the game outright
or - queens are the best unit in the game
Definitely modern chess. I think that's why is was so popular, and still has a following. I can see controlling lanes and countering pieces, resources management is even like pawn management.
In the first game, he had fully walled the bottom ramp by the time your banelings were marching toward his base, so when you clicked your banelings on the high ground supply depot they derp'd because there was no pathing.
Also last time I chekced, Banelings have a setting to autotarget buildings (turned off by default), this might have derped the AI further.
@@wolvie90 That is true, but not relevant here because the banelings were right-clicked directly on the reactor, meaning no matter what unit they were they would only attack that reactor. Zerglings or hydras would have done the same thing in this situation, having no legal path and then trying to go into the third base to get as close as possible. The no-attack-building toggle will never effect pathing except for when the banelings are A-moving the ground past buildings, at which point they will of course choose to attack the building or not when it comes into range.
It's an interesting choice in game design; if it were me I'd design it so that unit pathing only consider visible obstacles. If the enemy completes a wall that you haven't scouted yet, your units should take the path as if there was no such wall, and only when the wall becomes scouted do they consider it as an obstacle.

as a zerg player - last one was pretty standart blind play from terran against zerg: full wall with a bunker in case of zerlings, and mass steam marines with tanks. Really wanted to see how you get out of that....)))
I don't think that last 2-1-1 terran blind countered. He probably just plays like that every TvZ.
I do something similar. I often will blind bunker so my natural doesn’t get ling flooded 4 min in.
For that queen game, you can
a) bring a ovie so you can drop creep once you get lair
b) bring a drone, do the hatch cancel trick and put down a tumor on the creep
Yeah he should really try a queen rush and do the portable creep trick
Its much better to get a lair and make droplords.
Queens take forever to get across expecially without much creep.
Ik the drone thing sounds cool but normally they just snipe the tumor since its got like one hp and then your just sad. You had to bank 300 minerals and waste mining time so you can’t reinforce with lings

I play zerg and protoss and was pretty funny to me when you made a lair to stop them from going stargate
Here is a tip. Protoss will ALWAYS go stargate if they see a lair because of two base muta. Even if its something else their oricals will be out in time to see what tech it is.
Thermy you HAVE to try my patented "Burrow Rush" TM build. Your first 100 gas goes to burrow, the next 150 goes to lair, you rush with 4 roaches at 330 when burrow finishes. It'd be insane with your micro!

I think if someone is blind countering you, go for the nydus to go for outplays and chaos - trying to brute force the heavily fortified front door is tough
When you get as comfortable with Zerg as you are with Terran, I think you'll be unstoppable.

It probably isnt blind counter, a guy made a zerg to GM series using roach timing and ravager all in. Great videos I have been watching all of them, my favorites are the ones like the swarm host all in type of shenanigans.
@2:30 That would be an interesting series... Thermy must play "normal" against the best cheeses possible. Probably would need to be on a private server as the ladder games aren't guaranteed to be ridiculous cheeses though.
Noticed you did a "terran" move when you sent a drone to make a hatchery on natural, and at the moment I thought: what happens to 5 minerals you took? Does it "disappear* ot they are added to your" bank"? Has anybody had this experiment?))

Ideas for build challenges: commander based builds. Like from co-op
Raynor: marines and battlecruisers
Dehaka: evolved Zerg (banes, ravagers, lurkers, brood lords)
Vorazun: DTs and Void Rays
Mengsk: mass nukes
Zagara: mass baneling
hyun did something way way way back, which il never forget, he rushed ultras with mass queens and just injected over n over n over again into the ultralisk to heal it, 1 ultra n i think 15 queens or something lol - EDIT - was called the hyundralisk
was that in the days when one did not need creep to transfuse? I guess with 15 queens it would be easy enough to spread creep though.
Is it possible to do a queen walk that is sped up with overlord dropped creep? Is that even a viable build or concept? I've not seen it done… Maybe harstem did it. Not sure.
i've seen it already, its a great idea but usually we see either nydus or a queen walk/drop with overlords to put tumors (requires less apm I guess)
Huge fan, love your videos, but one thing that drives me bonkers is mining minerals with the drone and then making a hatchery out of it XD habits from terran die hard

I appreciate that you're giving folks every opportunity to blind counter with the name in addition to the dumb strats, even if it results in some losses it keeps it from being just smurfing
The pathfinding already knows that its blocked, so units are aimlessly walking around the position.

Do people just forget overlords can literally poop creep anywhere they want to make queen healing stations? It's so baffling to me how little overlords are utilized.

Pretty sure you defend cheese starts. If they were undefendable, macro games wouldn't be a thing whatsoever. If there is an imbalanced strategy for outrageous win percentage, the community would jump on that en masse. While strategy popularity combined with win percentage isn't the only measure of true balance, it's a pretty good indicator.

This actually works a lot better than it should. Especially once you have 5 tempest and can start one-shotting queens.
If fans want you to play on a barcode, and you don't want to, why not meet in the middle and name an account "barcode" ?
When walking the queens across, maybe bring one drone to temporarily make a hatch to get a little bit of creep to put a tumor. That way you'll have the ability to transfuse.

It is fun watching those games but i bet its not fun for the enemy players you are facing.I can imagine the frustration of having to play against top tier player while you are just at 4k mmr.Limiting yourself doesn't make it that much easier for them.I played a lot of dota and oh boy i can tell you everyone hates smurfs in their guts.Maybe its different for SC2,but i actually feel sorry for those that have to face you while you are early in the challenges.

What about proxying the tech, like doing the hatch cancel into roach warren or bane nest somewhere on the edge of the map so they can scout you all they want (and you purposefully let them do so) and then you send it

Is it possible to build a proxy hatch and then build your queens on the enemy side of the map to avoid the slow-walk?

There is an old cheese tactic where you have OVs spread patches of creep on the path your queens and roaches take. The path isn’t perfect, but they get on target faster.
Serral did that against Maru, it was a good opening against 3-rack reaper

You can always proxy hatch put down a creep tumor and cancel send the drone back or morph to spine or spore to try make a queen walk stronger. The transfuse is huge.
Love the content man and I'm so excited for rts. The game scarlett and cats are working on and stormgate being so close to a playable state is going to be awesome. I think it's a race to get one to beta to take all the hype.
I would love to have uThermal do a creep spreading challenge. Try to cover as much of the map as possible as fast as possible.

Please. Spread more creep! It hurt watching brenda walk from the main to the rally point by the third. Bring an overlord to poop creep too! So many options, those poor queens are so slow and sad.
