Dealing with the public these days takes some special fortitude. Power to you for the patience you have under circumstances like this. I could never do it.
I worked at a restaurant that had an all you can eat buffet on thursdays. A woman comes in and loads up two plates. After a couple minutes a guy comes in and sits with her, helping himself to the extra plate of food she had gotten. The waitress brought each of them a bill and the lady starts arguing saying she was only sharing her food with him. We finally had to call the police, who made her and the guy each pay. She and the guy were told don’t come back. Ya see it all in the food business…..
The guy was so arrogant for stealing the man's tips. I would have had him arrested. physically removed by a police officer after showing the film clip to both the customer and the cops.
Had a Manager tell me long ago, "The worst thing about retail is the customer, Then the Employees! " So True. I always said It depends on which one you are.
Once sold an uber hot chick a soda, she was my only customer and I chatted her up a bit while I gave her change for the ten she handed me. She looked at me funny and asked where the rest of her money is, because she insisted she gave me a twenty. Problem is she was my first customer of the day, my starting drawer doesn't even come with twenties. B***h gets my manager involved, and she even demanded I empty my pockets like I pulled some slight of hand BS. After I did my manager had my back and politely told her sorry, have a nice day and she stormed out.

I have a somewhat similar story back when I worked in retail. This lady came up to the desk, phone glued to her ear and can't even spare me a hello or anything. She talked more on the phone for a bit before addressing me, then she bought a money order. Then after that she asked to buy a $10 lottery ticket and gave me a $10 bill. While this was happening, she continued to talk on the phone. Then she looked at me after saying something, and I said "Sorry, are you talking to me?" And she said yeah I gave you a $20, can I get my change. I told her she gave me a $10 bill, not a $20. She then stood there frozen in thought for like 15 seconds and then walked away, phone still glued to her ear without saying another word to me. I swear, some people literally cannot go 2 minutes without their phone.

I worked at Subway years ago when I was 19 and had a woman get rude with me. It was a Sunday night, customers lined up to the door, and of course I'm the only one working. I'm making the sandwiches as fast as I can. She's snarky with me a few times and I say to her, "if you think I'm not doing a good enough job, then come on around here and help me." The rest of the customers clapped lol.
Stupidest is a word. Use it. Love it. Live it. Also why do some of the most awful people in existence I've ever seen just happen to also love Subway? I can't tell you how many times I've been in line and in awe of the horrible treatment these employees endure.
You have to frequently empty the tip jar. That way if a thief dips into your jar, they take only a portion. Another reason, if you frequently empty your jar, it will come across like nobody is tipping. This will guilt the customer into giving a larger tip.
The unfortunate truth is that, many (not all) customers who patronize establishments with quick, cheap food like Subway- often treat the employees like absolute garbage . They wouldn’t act like that in a high end steakhouse.
A few years ago a guy I know was banned from going through the drive thru at all the local restaurant. He would go through the drive through and get his food. He then would storm into the restaurant and claim that they left out one of his food items. Then, he would ask for a refund or an extra of whatever he said was left out. After a few times of doing this, he finally got banned from the restaurants.
I saw a guy off the rails at a subway because he was asked what he wanted on his sub. He wanted what was on the menu, so the subway guy put what was on the menu, then he ask if he'd like anything else on it. Flew off the rails again and started cussing the guy out for minutes and then stormed out the door yelling that the guy couldn't just give him what was on the menu. It was the most bizarre thing I've ever seen. He got in a big expensive truck and peeled out of the parking lot. There were two subway employees and 3 or 4 of us customers in there. None of us could figure out what in hell was going on.
As a vegetarian, I'd suggest you switch your gloves after preparing your meat sandwiches & before you handle the veggies, or start with the veggies ones ! You might be a good Subway restaurant, but that's total contempt for all vegetarians & vegans out there.
Imagine getting banned from at least one (sometimes more than one) restaurant or store. Do you just go home at night, and you sit there like "Yup. I'm completely in the right for how I acted. Everyone else was in the wrong." Like, how do you function being that irritable all the time? How does your body not just shut down from that much constant negativity? You just get mildly inconvenienced and decide that's the hill you're going to die on every single time. Whether you get yelled back at, banned, even arrested in some cases you see. It's mind-boggling that people that insane exist.
My mom at a vintage store with me I asked what was in the clear plastic Lego bag she ripped it open and a employee ran over here and yelled at her for opening it and I don’t want to get into it but they yelled and blah blah blah so she banned herself another employee was very nice and said you don’t have to never come back if you want. One thing I really wish Subway would do again is bring back the old way they cut the bread. The "U" Gouge. It was cut down each side of the bread, if you held the bread up and looked through it, it looked like a U shape or a gutter in a bowling alley. They then put in the cheese first, then meat, then sauces, then the veggies. Then the top peice which was about 2 inch wide was put on top. This made all the stuff stay inside the sandwich and was way better. I have stopped going to Subway except in a rare occasion because of that. Everything now is upside down when they put it on sandwich, and everything falls off as you eat it now. It is to much trouble to try to explain to them to make it the old way. They never know what you are talking about when you explain the cut. Also if you tell them to put cheese and meat of bottom of bun instead of top they still try to do it wrong. I got sick of trying so basically stopped going to Subway.
If someone steals from your tip jar and you have video evidence, just call the cops. It's only a petty theft, but if they bother to come, you get to ban them, get the money back, and make an example all in one
I would've not confront Todd, let his butt eat his sandwiches, and call the cops and let them deal with it. And I ain't no snitch. A snitch is if Todd's wife calls the cops on him. If they treat me like trash, and stole from from my store, they're getting arrested.
Because of how much BS customer service people have to put up with, I go out of my way to be extra pleasant, courteous and thankful to workers. Make it your goal to make people's day with kindness. You never know when someone will make your day when you need it the most.
one time i went to subway and it was super busy and i ordered a pretty elaborate sub but when she went to put the pepper on my sandwich the lid popped off and she poured a ton of pepper on my sandwich, the lady looked terrified and started apologizing and she looked like she was about to cry, so i said it was fine and to just keep going so she wrapped up my sub i paid for it and gave them a 25% tip, and honestly i really enjoyed my pepper sandwich
Sorry I won't be sticking to the topic deal with it because I need to know. What are those giant pepperonis you put on the sandwich? They can't be pepperoni because it's huge but it looks like pepperoni
WtF? I've been to Subway maybe 30 - 40 times in my lifetime. Every experience was the same. They asked what I wanted, I told them, then I paid and left. Pretty cookie cutter experience.
I've worked at 4 different Subways over the course of several years. The first three were average, run of the mill Subways in decent neighborhoods. The 4th one was a high traffic location on a busy street in a lower income neighborhood, and at that Subway, your three customers would be an average Tuesday. If you all think this is bad, this is nothing. Ever been robbed by someone with a gun? I have! Ever have someone refusing to pay and threaten you with violence if you don't hand over their sandwich? I have! Ever have your co-workers break your phone in front of you cause they didn't want to work? I have! I could fill a 10 hour video with horror stories. Tip your sandwich artists. They're putting their lives on the line for abusive customers and managers. Think I'm joking? Go to the Subway in the shittiest part of your town and ask them.
I got banned from a subway. My friends and I stopped at one after clubbing one night so we were the only ones there. I was messing with the chick making my sandwich, so she told me to just make it myself. So I went behind the counter and made my own monstrosity of a sandwich. She let us have our food for free. We went in the same store the next weekend and the owner was behind the counter. She had been fired and he told us not to come back.

Dealing with horrible customers like that sucks, but now I think I'm going to Subway , maybe tomorrow to get a sandwich.
Yes, there are scumbags o9ut there.
one time i went to subway and it was super busy and i ordered a pretty elaborate sub but when she went to put the pepper on my sandwich the lid popped off and she poured a ton of pepper on my sandwich, the lady looked terrified and started apologizing and she looked like she was about to cry, so i said it was fine and to just keep going so she wrapped up my sub i paid for it and gave them a 25% tip, and honestly i really enjoyed my pepper sandwich
Back to the subway story videos, nostalgia.
Ive had to bann people when I worked food. Some people are just INSANE.
“If youre somehow watching this video, YouRe BANnEd”
Wait wait wait hold the subway door….santa clause isn’t real?!??!😮
I’m kidding but was that emoji like his expression? Or more like 😧
Sounds like a very passive and feminine way to handle this. I would have told them to leave immediately and never come back.
Im sorry but thats exactly what will happen in a big company specially with cameras
An actual American working in a subway? Mind blown
