- In this video I teardown a Mercruiser 4.3 V6 engine. Other than severe rust in cylinder 6 I don’t see any other damage that would have necessitated tearing this engine down for a rebuild. I provide a few tips on tearing down engines along the way so be sure and watch through the end.

Excellent video by the way.
I seen a video of a guy that used an impact wrench and a chisel bit in an angel as to the way to turn them off and showed bolts more rusted than what you showed and came right loose unbelievable until I saw it.
19:51 Sometimes it pays to press a sleeve into a bore that has reached the limit. However, I'm fairly sure that 4.3 V6 cores cost so little, you can find one that only needs an overbore.
thank you for this video. I had another leak from my engine and determined its from the oil dip tube hole in the block. it looks like your engine has the tube equipped but on mine the dip tube goes to the oil pan drain plug. so now that it doesn't have that plug its shooting out oil. shouldn't be to hard to go in and tap it in with a hammer.
I usually put a few globs of silicone in that hole if it’s dry but once it has oil in it you’ll need the proper plug.

The above manual is for Vortec engines. Older engines before 1996 use this:
