I can't stress how important it is to find time to incorporate some form of exercise into your day is while doing this line of work!
The pros were better than I thought, and the cons weren’t even as bad as I thought.
I appreciate your time and energy on this. 😊
I just received my IA license in TX, about to apply for my FL license. I will start my Xactimate course next week for three days. Once I complete the Xactimate course I will work on my resume and start applying for jobs.
Hows it going since? Still in the business?
Great info I’m on my way to becoming an adjuster ... take the stress it worth the money
Thanks for the vid. I have started my process for becoming an insurance adjuster. It seems exciting! My current job can be a lot of boring paperwork, but I think with my experience doing tons of paperwork under pressure previously as a teacher, and currently as a social worker, that’s a plus! The court stuff at my current work bores me to death, the paperwork is boring, and the only excitement is seeing the kids. I think I would do well with an insurance job on my feet where I get to go out into the field.
Very good, concise presentation. Thank you!
Thanks for taking the time to watch itn
Thank you, I've been trying to become an IA in Louisiana. You answered quite a few of my concerns
Did you become one? Im in Louisiana too researching this.
I'm commenting for the algorithm your video was helpful thanks
just want to say a big Thank You for info! 🤟
Peter, thank you for taking the time to watch this.
Desk Adjusters are W2 - Field adjusters 1099, File examiners W2 or 1099 depends on the company.
I have done both desk and field as an IA and was always W2. Depends on the firm and the carrier.
Good info
Thanks bro I am living here in Texas and I am going to get my lincense
Do you have a video on IA vs staff adjuster. Never done independent but would to see a deep dive into differences…
Listening to this the Pros in my opinion outweigh the Cons
Hi Shaun. For some reason the link to your 100 list of IA isn't allowing me to buy the list.
Please advise.
Many thanks.
I'm a new to this field or line of work and know very little about it. I'm interested in the auto section as a independent. Do have any advice for someone like me?
What companies offer paid training to become a IA?
The training is usually a nightmare.
They might have you think you know what you're doing in the workshops, but the actual process of working that claim will always be very different.
Writing the estimate is only a fraction of the process.
What is a general adjuster? If i get all lines adjuster license, can i become a general adjuster?
I want to do this and rv the USA. I'm in construction and plumbing can l get a far shake with work?
I'm currently a real estate appraiser with over 26 years of experience, and I'm looking for another career. Do you have any advice as to what field would best suit me in the insurance industry?
So if you get fired… these firms don’t reimburse you or nothing if you drove all the way out to a specific state and paid for the hotel?
I’ve been working long hours that’s not an issue, I’m about to start studying for my IA license this week
That's the right attitude.
How did it go for you?
Do you have an update on journey?
Ong where ya at now
Nah fr how it go
Should someone just starting out in this industry work for a big name Insurance company first?
Hello. Thank you for the info. I need to know how you obtained your health insurance and other benefits?
Health insurance comes independently if you work as an IA. Staff is a different story.
I am seriously considering this career path. I was a teacher for 9 years, and got burnt out, plus the money stinks! Then I went into medical sales, but to be honest, I don’t think I’m great at it, and it’s very unreliable work (you can be let go at anytime). I am a little confused by some of the things I’ve read…can you be an independent desk adjuster? I don’t want to do field work.
You can be independent desk. Companies like Pilot , Eberls Alacrity hire desk adjusters at home and they just send you computer to your home. You just have to apply for those positions
I also have 2 more questions…is the job market good for new hires? And can you do field work without having to climb on a roof?
Do you know what the job market is like for new hires?
what makes the job itself stressful? day to day work load? deadlines? training to become an IA?
Day to day work load, depending on the firm.
I have a all lines adjuster license for Texas I’m 18 and can’t get in the industry everyone says I don’t have enough experience and I can’t lie about it do you have any tips ?
Apply at Alacrity, Pilot, QA Claims, Eberle, and TheBest. They take newbies.
Do you know any companies hiring new independent adjusters I just got my license
How has it been bro? Any luck with the new adventure?
Advice from an IA...If you aren't wanting to get on roofs, you're never going to be a field adjuster.
You can be field auto though 😊
@@NSTYGRL516 What's field auto?
I was training with Sedgwick and they let some of us go after 6 weeks of training. It was Remote paid training so that was good and I learned a lot. Who should I check with now I'm willing to do Remote or Field?
Hi Cordell. Check out with whomever is opening and don't be too stingy on where you go.
How was it? @cordell
@cordellHarris
It was good training
I’m going back in the field when hail season start, have a training in Mobile next week
What is involved with applying to other States so you are able to work there during critical times?
Go to sircon or nipr and apply for those states non resident license after you have obtained you resident state or designated home state license. Check the new states reciprocity with your home state license before you apply though.
What’s the deal with “long hours” if you can set your own schedule can’t you also not work twelve hours days?
Hi Erick. You CAN technically but a lot of it varies on what you're doing. You have a choice in terms of how long you want to work it. Right now, I find working as a field auto appraiser gives you true choose your hours.
I did auto for a few weeks and everyone joked that everyday is Monday and Friday, because we worked 7 days a week, but could get released at any moment and weren't getting enough cars yo keep everyone
Hello / how can I get in touch with you? I need to speak to you because It’s a complex question … I need some direction . You did say if we have question you can help
If your question isn't too complex, I can answer it here. Otherwise, if it's something that'll take a while to answer, you'll have to schedule a 30-minute consultation with me.
No matter what you do a great tax person is a must
How do you work independently as an LLC?
Same as you would if you were a single entity. You just have to be more wary of your taxes and have an accountant help out.
Can you share the link to the application?
What application?
How do I become an insurance adjuster?
I talk about it in my very first video
Sounds like a tough job to work on the insurance industry!
They do not want rooty poo crybabies.
@@insuranceadj101as a certified rooty poo crybaby, dang 😂 I’ll need to find something else
Do you think this can be done part time?
NOPE! It's a full-time gig.
Still waiting on the 5 bad reasons 😆
Hey bud, how can I schedule a phone call with you? I have several questions as I am already an auto appraiser…
Hi Randy. I am often booked due to working auto appraisal claims myself but if you want my time, I will be more than happy to have a 30 minute consultation talk with you. PLEASE read the instructions before planning time with me.
calendly.com/shaunwebb/30min?month=2022-07
I'm interested in speaking with you as well.
I am differently interested in the field, but the 1 thing that SCARES me the most is the amount of HOURS. I can push my way thru 50 hrs a week but doing 60 + a week for as long as the deployment would be tough. You mention some firms let you pick your hours. Do you have a listing of those firms?
CAT is easily 90 hours a week if you want to stay on the storm and not be the first to go home after 2-3 weeks. Realistically it's 100-110 hour weeks. 50-60 hours a week should be daily work only.
I’m a month in of 17-18 hr days it’s no joke lol
Are they strict on people with tattoos?
To my knowledge, no. I've worked with people that had neck tattoos in the office.
@@insuranceadj101 thank you for your time
Do you have to do catastrophes to make over 100,000 a year?
You can make $100k in less than a year if you work CATs.
How hard is it to get work as a new adjuster?
It's very easy to get in as a new adjuster ESPECIALLY when it's a catastrophe.
@@insuranceadj101 Thanks for replying! Im trying to figure out how long training takes and what I need to do for WA state. Im not able to travel for extended periods for catastrophes tho.
@@lmonahan3655 The great thing about insurance adjusting is you do not have to travel to get work for catastrophes. There's a LOT of desk work available for CATs.
I am seriously considering getting into Claims Adjusting but I keep hearing that's it's super stressful and long hours. Adding stress to my life + way more $$, I'll consider BUT working more than 8 hours a day 5 days a week, I am not. I'm almost 40 and I have a family to take care of physically, not just financially. I would have to find an 8-5 Mon-Fri desk position, or I can't do it.
We have a dedicated group that is working a M-F 8 hr deployment. If you buy the course, you can get access to the Slack chat and you can get access on how to get on this deployment. It's an auto desk deployment. We often have parents work it.
@@insuranceadj101 What is the course and how much does it cost?

Do they drug test?
Some firms do, yes.
Insurance adjusters are crooks.
What did you gain by this comment? Sir, you are too grown to be better
That is not true. You’re probably just mad your claim didn’t get paid or what YOU expected, lol!
You have no idea what I just went through with State Farm! The insurance adjuster I dealt with Ronald Tay*** was awful. With MY persistence, and hard work, I was able to get the contractor paid but it took months and help from a private adjuster whom I had to pay.
All I wanted was my garage, to be the way it was before a tree was dropped onto the roof.
Adjusters work for the MAN, the insurance companies that don't give a shit about their customers. All they care about is profits, and you help them achieve that goal. Almost like an uncle Tom. So yes, they pay you well to do their dirty work.
Yeah, I'm the bad guy. I filed a claim against my policy.
