    What do you think of this setup for the spinning side kick?
    Are you going to start testing it out?

      You have any tips to improve hip rotation for such spin ? I feel like my spin attack always being either out of range or too slow to land.

      I think it’s a good setup for it. Though one setup I personally like to use is just off of a fake switch. Using the switch kick over and over to weaken the arms of my opponent. Then when they’ve gotten the timing of it down better, you switch your feet, feinting the kick to get them to lift their guard for it. Then you turning back kick/spinning side kick down their middle, since blocking for shots from the sides opens up the middle and vice versa. I’ve never hit the liver with it, but I have sent some people back and done some damage to the body with it.

      Pretty sure I've eaten this exact setup. 😂
      Was more of a frustrated power shot than a pulled kick though, I'm lucky I was the heavier guy. 🥲
      Definitely one to watch out for even if you don't add it to your arsenal. It's one of those shots where you can get caught when you think you've made distance.

      A missed lead lowkick is a good setup too. When your opponent backs up and you kick the air and would end up with almost your back to the opponent but use the momentum and use it for a spinkick

    I have been practicing same kick, both feet, at a least 20 times a day for the last month on my heavy bag. We had kumite last Wednesday and I was amazed at how well I was able to land the kick multiple times. One landed on this poor kids balls, which is allowed, but was unintentional. Lucky for him it was only 25% power, but you could see it still really hurt. I will add the fake hook now. Really love the content of your videos. Your videos have been very helpful. Mahalo!

    Cung Le used to have a similar set-up. He was one of the few fighters who could regularly successfully execute spinning back kicks against elite competition (Strikeforce & UFC).
    Extra tip to improve your spinning speed: Throw a wide hook in a spiral, meaning do a long range hook and while spinning pull the hook close to your face. That's like when figure skaters on ice do their pirouette starting with wide open arms and while spinning pull their arms close to the body adding extra momentum to the spin.

    I've always liked the counter jumping spinning side kick.

    • @Harry-mf6rq
      @Harry-mf6rq 2 роки тому

      If you like the jump spin side kick, try this one with a corkscrew uppercut instead. Uppercut works better in close, just like the jumping side kick, and you can use the upwards motion to help with the jump.

    • @LRkun
      @LRkun 2 роки тому

      @@Harry-mf6rq how do you pull it off?
      I normally do the jump spin if they other guy moves back, or does a round kick.
      If a person moves back, I feel I may miss an upper cut. Or if he does a round kick, I'd miss him too.

    I don't train combat sports but I was sparing with my friend for fun once because he trains. He kicked me exactly like this and I have never felt pain like it. I collapsed, my soul left my body and I couldn't breathe anymore. It happened so fast that I didn't even know what hit me. One minute I was standing and the next I was on the floor.

    • @angelsjoker8190

      I was hit in a sparring session with a colleague of mine and he hit me with a side kick to my left ribs (in a counter attack). I could partially avoid it or absorb it, but I let him hit me on purpose because I thought he wouldn't kick me for real (it was supposed to be just a fake fight). I was hit full force and projected through the air, and finally fall on the ground in pain and struggling to breath for about 30 seconds. The guy said "sorry" but I knew he wasn't trustworthy (as my other colleagues said that he wasn't a man who could control himself well).

    Hey Gabriel, as teenager and Karate fanatic I sometimes practiced spinning foot sweeps (ducking completely and trying to sweep both of the opponent’s feet) with a friend and it kind of worked. A bit brutal, though… Do you have an opinion on them? And is there any sport where they are actually legal in fights?

    Hey Gabriel. I'm a new Muay Thai amateur fighter, I'm currently 4-0. What I've noticed is that the way I move in my fights is not the same as the way I move in sparring. During sparring, I'm faster, I can set-up my shots better, I can create angles better, but in my fights I feel slow and heavy and I can't set-up my shots. Do you have any advice for me?

    • @GabrielVargaOfficial
      @GabrielVargaOfficial  2 роки тому +2

      4-0 is a great record. Congratulations!
      What you are experiencing is lack of ring time + nerves. They make you a shell of yourself in the gym.
      As time goes on and your experience in the ring increases you will perform better.
      For me it was around 10 fights where I was able to start thinking and execute similar to the gym.

    You know what seikido was amazing especially for street defense. You know what i didnt like was the jumping rolls and kick ups and cartwheels i dont even know if i can do one now lol, but i can throw a 540 spin hook kick so hah!. We dont get up like that kick up in a fight. We use the bjj shrimp with the hand out. So there were a few flaws. Now has wayne corrected all this ? Maybe. So now i have to come and see. Again. Should i wear my filthy white belt or my tokaido blk. Up to wayne i guess. Well its definitely far now in surrey fk. I wish they would let me and maybe daren or someone open Vancouver back up. Whoever it is ill help but vancouver needs to come back its not fair. Ill pay for it. Seriously! You want to learn how to annihilate someones gut with stomach shot, seikido taught me the deadliest hook (using palm) and gut shot (walk through them) ever to exist. All praise the master paul li. ❤ that man. Like a father to us all. Such honor. Surrey though dammit. Ok fk ill come back just because i know I must. They are the best i have not found better for striking. Some muay thai but the kicks are so sloppy in Vancouver muay thai. Oh yeah and there is one thing ill never forgive seikido for, they never forced us to strengthen our abductor and quad muscles. Lots of splits but no strength. Grrrr. Took me years to learn why i couldnt l kick with speed only. Try doing it slow motion. True test of ability. Failed. Until recently really thanks in part to gabe
