There are scores of martial arts youtube channels that only have one tone: Dead serious. A lot of the better ones show the human side of the people and have fun with it while still having great information. The audience studies this stuff for fun; the presenters should be able to have fun with it too. Plus seeing genuine human interaction like that is balm for the soul for many of us these days.
Chuckles, "This is abuse..." (smooch) "Thank you..." (Cut to intro) Lol, relationship goals. This is a great video, this kick really isn't touched on very often, very helpful and informative, thank you!
Simply put there are other professional fighter UA-cams out there, but what I find most intriguing about your vids are the SUBJECT material. This is stuff real fighters want to learn and dig into. Love this channel, thank you for teaching Thai side kick
Man, I really can't stress enough how thankful I am for you consistency, and valuable key tidbits you're dropping for us. Now all I gotta do is apply it, thank you.
A kick that from traditional martial arts look untechnical, but once you feel it in your belly you realize how effective it is. Great job showing this technique Gabriel.
I love the Muay Thai side kick or side teep, it's one of the only three kicks (front kick or teep, side kick, roundhouse kick) that I practice the most for self-defense purposes.
This is by far one of your best videos! The interaction between you and your wife was hilarious. I'll practice the Thai Side kick and add it to my arsenal!
You guys are too cute! Before starting Muay Thai and Kickboxing in the 90s I was training in Savate-French Kickboxing, so I was already very comfortable doing front leg front kick and sidekick, and what I like to do a lot is the jumping front leg sidekick!
Side kick are so effective. Great hybrid of distance and power. Plus added bonus of making the foot hard to catch if you turn it toward the horizontal.
True Love! You involve your wife in your video! Yayyyyer! Your explanation about the mechanical of the side kick is worth it’s weight in gold of information
Thanx for the usefull advices and and funny with your beautiful wife....shows what a kind hearted person you are!!! Big respect my friend!!! God bless you!!!
this kick is perfect for me, I've always felt my side kick was a bit awkward and I was always landing with the ball of my foot instead of my heel, even if the rest of my side kick form was good.
I definitely prefer this sidekick over the traditional one with the foot completely horizontal. This way you don't have to be completely turned to the side, so it's easier for follow ups.
Me and you think the same about techniques.. from the hooks to the teeps. Probably loads more.. you got the credentials to make me know I'm doing it right. 👍 Love the content. Legend
Thanks for all the great videos I’ve learned so much from this channel!! I watch daily to expand my skill set you break things down so well for us beginners!! Keep em coming please!!
Very helpful video. Thanks! I've got a question (or maybe it can be an idea for a new video): why has kickboxing evolved from using karate-style kicks to nowadays kickboxing where most of the fighters use muaythai-style kicks?
Hi Gabriel and Rachel loving the content thanks for doing these videos. I especially like this one as someone with no kickboxing background I can watch the video, learn the correct technique and drill it. Could you do a tutorial playlist where you teach the basics of other kicks too? Thanks again guys
Another great video champ! We always see videos on training in Thailand for Muay Thai, I would love to watch a video about what it is like training kickboxing in Holland? Is it worth making a stay over there?
sir gab do you have some sort of drills or exercise to improve this side teep?.. should we first practice side kick in order to be good at side teep?...
I wonder if the Thai Side Kick/Teep is inspired by Karate especially that Slide? There's literally no other Kick in Muay Thai and Muay Boran that incorporate a slide kick.
Gabriel. Can you comment on why kickboxers rarely ever use the turning side kick, Joe Rogan style? With sufficient practice, it can be very fast, can be used to close distance and is extremely powerful. Thanks!
Too much low kick counter, big gloves and tiny ring. It works better in mma where you can just dance around the huge cage and shoot takedowns if they low kick you
@@GabrielVargaOfficial I totally agree. One of my favourite moves I always catch people with is throwing a light side kick and then coming in with a hard 1 2 .
⬇️↘️➡️+🦵 I love mixing this kick with the Brazilian/question-mark kick, because the initial front kick-like movement is the same. Next thing I’m working on is to mix it up with the superman punch, for the same reason. I like how the Thai side kick can punish an opponent trying to catch your front kick without creating some distance with footwork.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but Jake Paul TKO’d Ben Askren in the 1st Round and Askren failed to throw a single noteworthy punch save for a weak overhand, it looked rigged since Ben is not one to be Ko’d with a single right hand but I’ll leave it up for speculation
This video was requested over 100 times. I hope everyone enjoyed it.
Do I need to make a part 2 in the gym with padwork footage?
looks a lot more like a teep turned sideway than a karate sidekick
@@kungfujoe2136 Think so. The 45 degree slant of the foot makes it harder for the opponent to catch the ankle/heel.
Yes that would be helpful if you could.
Thanks Allan
Yes, you should do it!
I Say yes!
Watching y'all interact it's immediately clear why y'all are married :)
Samart used this so effectively back in the day ;)
Its not anymore ?
@@jerichopagtama6771 he doesnt compete anymore 😅
Yeah his hands are also unreal. He is my goat.
I'm glad you all enjoyed seeing Gabe send me flying :P

If only I could get my wife to do that for me!
i definitely did
Tawanchai has an amazing side teep. Thank you for this.
Lol dont kick Wifey through the wall Gabe! would love to see you breakdown Samarts Teep sidekick hybrid. I swear his hips are rubber!
@@jesusiskingofkingss samart somehow maintains his square stance while throwing the side steep and doesnt really chamber. Idk how to explain it

Gabriel your channel is one of the best for combat sports on UA-cam, love what you’re doing!

The spinning back kick is perfect right after a side teep☝️
They had a fight last night. "Honey will you hold the bag for me in my new video?"

I learned this kick from Lawrence Kenshin's breakdown, and I'm pretty good with that, but that video gave me new perspective. Thanks champ
The beginning of the video was adorable lol
Be with someone that lookes at you like Gabriel's SO

Teeping is SO important when sparring, its my 'don't want to get much punches from you today' tool

3:47 he has the most muscular feet arch I've ever seen
Sanart thai sidekick was legendary so much versatility
I had been unknowingly doing this on the heavy bag practicing and this helps alot to clean up the form. Thanks 👍

Loving this channel! I’d love to see some nutrition videos about what a world class kickboxing eats leading up to a fight!
these will take the wind right out of you..good work sir
Love the Channel so much and love the obvious complicity between your wife and you!
This guy neeedssss to go on JRE
Timing is the key to this. . Can send people flying without putting much into the kick. Especially if sliding in.
U have a upcoming fight and still posting UA-cam videos every day and teaching your fans for free hats off and thank u
I'm still waiting on a fight date. I will hopefully be in training camp in 1-3 weeks.
I'll still make an effort to post 3-4 times per week.

this video was unintentionally funny as hell
I know. She was just going to hold the bag. I didn't think she'd go flying. Had to include the whole thing.
Very good. Seems it would be very effective. Hope Mrs V. is OK!
Undoubtedly you have the good knowledge of muay thai kicks. This video shows not only kicking but also shows kising an uglibich😂😂😂
Great tutorial, I`m so used to the Karate Side Kick.
That is a good one too but I like the adaption of this kick. I find it a bit more fluid and less energy is exerted.
Thai side kick will be the new calf kick for mma
Thanks for making this one and for talking your wife into helping out 😂. As always, amazing content.
I remember the previous video, and I'm glad to see a follow-up on the Thai-style side kick!

Is the side teep same as front teep ????
