Drew! That was FANTASTIC. You knocked it out of the park. I'm not sure who your anonymous friend might be but I'm sure he's amazed by all the effort and kindness you showed his friend! Also, 'thou shalt check your fly' is also a solid reminder.
Was beginning to wonder where the straight slot screw would end up--thanks for not disappointing anyone :) And good on ya for not "borrowing" wood from your neighbor for this build....that would have been a bit awkward "Yes pastor I stole, oh I meant borrowed, the wood from my neighbor". Turned out very nice!
Thanks and kudos for the outtakes. I screw up so many times when woodworking that I'm often short of quitting that hobby completely. However, seeing that even such talented and experienced woodworkers like you have some unsuccesful moments, helps me to keep going.
4:56 This. And the P. Brown joke. Drew, you did it again, make me LOL for real! Oh, and this too 9:19 Great work, and the video of the whole build, as always: top notch!
Beautiful piece! As always, your videos are the best on UA-cam. You show how you did all the intricate details but do it concisely without wasting a lot of time. And of course the humor is always a fun bonus.
With all those fancy points, this is 14.6387% better than one from the "Pulpit Store". Seriously, this project is one to be VERY PROUD of. It ill be cherished for many years to come. GREAT JOB Drew! !! !!!
Did you end up finishing the complete disassembly of your neighbor's house for your projects? I don't see you take a trip to the lumber yard too often 🤪
It’s a beautiful piece of work! I love walnut, it’s easy to work and it turns out great. I agree with your original inscription choice (it’s funny but not really something applicable in a church setting). I once didn’t check my fly and halfway through the service my wife pointed it out. There’s no graceful way to fix that problem in that setting. I turned around and made the necessary adjustment, and then apologized profusely. That really didn’t help;my wife still reminds me periodically. That keeps me humble. Anyway, thanks for the video and outtakes. I’m not the only one to have mishaps happen.
What a beautiful creation!! One tip I picked up from Four Eyes is to cut those miters just a touch under 45° and the outside corners will line up beautifully. But it looks like you nailed them!
In 1989 we had a devastating church fire. A friend and I built a lectern and altar for our temporary church and then after our church was reordered the lectern and altar were moved into our chapel. It certainly was one of the most unique projects I've ever done. Your lectern is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship ! I always enjoy you videos.
Another gorgeous piece of work Drew! It's sure to get a lot of use and will be greatly appreciated by the pastor each time. It is a beautiful addition to the church!!!
Great project. 45 degree mitered corners with wider boards are challenging. The saw or miter sled being off as little as a tenth of a degree maps itself around the frame creating new vocabulary on the last joint. Those digital gauges (I have one) are handy, but only as reliable as the internal electronics. Nice work.
A few years ago I was asked to build presider chairs for our priest and Deacon. Definitely a humbling experience to be asked to build something thing so important. Learned a lot along the way as well.
It turned out beautiful! It’s a really beautiful center piece that will be used in sermons for generations to come I’m sure!!! I thought the molding was a nice touch the way you utilized both the round over and the Roman profiles. They work very well together and yet aren’t too much either.
Awesome Video! You did a great job on it! Miter joints are my biggest area for growth. I love the Walnut. I was waiting for the Maple inlay on the cross maybe on the next one.
I love it just like all your projects! One tip from seasoned abroad woodworker 😂 Use much less glue! No cleanup (or almost none) and the thing will be plenty strong while still outlast many of us. Greetings from Croatia 😊
It's pretty much all been said by those before me. About all I can add is "outstanding". You done that walnut proud. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe..🙂🙂
What a beautiful piece Drew, it looked like it had always been there. Great job, so lovely that you resisted temptation to borrow your neighbours walnut too. 😅👍👏 Oh and I almost forgot to say how much I admired the trick to fill the little gap in the joint. I've seen people use shavings to fill a gap but your idea of just running a sander over the glue was so much more effective and natural looking. 👏
Speaking of podcasts…. My kids and I are convinced you moonlight on a podcast called “Keys for Kids”. You changed your name to Zach to protect your identity, but the voice is undeniable! I’m like 83% kidding. You are him.
The Maestro of Mirth and Mahogany. The Wit-Whittler.. I’ll stop. But those fart noises took me out.. WELL DONE. One of your best pieces. Very kind of you to do this for the chuch and as always, love the outtakes. Thank you for those, and for the additional captivating shots of you at the lumber shop. Cinematography deserving of a standing-o(ak) (outocorrect really wanted the word oak. my phone is more clever than me)
Literally (a word I almost never use) every Baptist church I have ever attended could use more than one of these, to replace the multiple units that are legit (another word I never use) falling apart at every joint. Haven't seen a solid one in a classroom at a Baptist church yet, and I've been looking for pretty much my entire life. I'm 52. At some point, I'll start trying to build some and sneaking them in. They won't look as good as Drew's, but I'm hoping for an A for effort. Great job as always, Drew.
@FishersShop True story! That pulpit is beautiful!! Besides, I enjoy listening to your voice with those snarky, dry, remarks that you toss into the mix. There are just some days when one needs those, like today. Why? I blew out a brake line while being 1,000 miles from home. I had it dropped off at the shop, and they said a wheel bearing is in URGENT need of replacement! I will not even mention the price they quoted. The great news is that my son works on that specific brand of vehicle! So, he is now bringing his trailer to put my truck on it, rescuing his ever-grateful mother!
Hi, Drew. Beautiful project you made and you make the building process very entertaining! You are great! Two tips for you--1. Trash that band clamp!! Those things are junk; upgrade to the Bessey. 2: Avoid those cross-grain glue-ups; this project had a lot of them. If you're going to wrap a panel with wood trim, then it's best to make the panel from veneer or plywood, and not solid wood. Always remember that wood needs room to expand/contract to avoid splitting or joint failure. Wrapping the ends with glued-on moldings doesn't allow any movement in the wood. Even the Almighty can't prevent wood movement! Love your videos!
Drew! That was FANTASTIC.
You knocked it out of the park. I'm not sure who your anonymous friend might be but I'm sure he's amazed by all the effort and kindness you showed his friend!
Also, 'thou shalt check your fly' is also a solid reminder.
Hah, thanks Peter! I sure appreciate you trusting me to help your friend in this way. Glad everything turned out as it did.
Drew must've felt the Holy Spirit on this one. He didn't covet thy neighbor's wood stash.
Hehe, thanks for watching!
Although, neighbor should be honored to "donate" wood for such a worthy project.
Thou shall not covet thy neighbour's walnut.
Thanks and kudos for the outtakes. I screw up so many times when woodworking that I'm often short of quitting that hobby completely. However, seeing that even such talented and experienced woodworkers like you have some unsuccesful moments, helps me to keep going.
This is the funniest woodworker I've ever seen in my entire life, simply put he's a genius
That glue squeeze out fart was hilarious.😂 I almost spit my coffee across the living room.
Mission accomplished 😂
4:56 This. And the P. Brown joke. Drew, you did it again, make me LOL for real! Oh, and this too 9:19
Great work, and the video of the whole build, as always: top notch!
haha, glad you enjoyed it!
That P. Brown joke is an old Principal Skinner line from The Simpsons. ;)
@@BrentNeal1979 paraphrasing the Simpsons is always a good thing. Homer would approve.

Just finished watching all of your videos in the last few days. Amazing as always, sir.
Glad you like them!
Drew, it looks like an old English piece. It's really awesome, my friend.
Many thanks!
What a beauty. You do work that is worthy of His name. Bless you sir.

This is a project that I have always wanted to tackle. You did a fantastic job and it has inspired me to give it a try.
Right on! Best of luck!

Yup, I always double check it. Just because it says it's dead on 45 doesn't mean it actually is.

Another Great Project - I attend the Troy Woodside Campus - This is fantastic
Very cool! I was a member at the White Lake campus for around 5yrs

Thanks to your S'tung oil! 😊
Beautiful work, once again! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks again!
Fantastic piece as always. Dont worry about the extra hinge holes. It just makes it holier.
Exactly!
Tight!
Now this is one beautiful build! Been thinking about doing one similar to donate to the church my mom goes to. Beautiful work Drew!
Absolutely gorgeous Drew!! Miters are perfect & such a great choice of wood. Thanks so much for the outstanding videos.

Nice build. I think I might have changed the way I mounted the piano hinge, to hide the screwheads, but the black hardware looks good with the walnut.
That's what I thought too. Thanks
The wood used sure was nice! Great build.
Thanks 👍
Way to keep P. Brown anonymous while you show his channel logo in your band saw! LMAO! I love watching and learning from both of you guys!
Thanks man! Yeah, his channel is great
Nicely done Drew. Thanks for bringing us along!

Great video! I look forward to checking it out it in person on Sunday. Especially appreciate the outtakes at the end, reminds me of how my builds go
Oh nice! Hopefully it passes scrutiny. :)
And one of the best woodworking channels on here is back! Made my day. Thank you.

It fit beautifully in the church. Job well done.
Thanks!
That's gorgeous! Seriously pretty grain on that walnut.
Thanks!
Amazing Build Drew.
Loved seeing the delivery.
And always enjoy the outtakes
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks
Had this playing behind a different screen earlier and had to go back to rewatch what was happening at @4:56. That was funny

Top of the charts!
Exceptional! You scored with the man upstairs.
I hope so
Nice project, it looks very elegant, one question: why wasn't the hinge hidden? I think with that she would have won the job more. Greetings
I agree with you. The exposed hinge isn’t pretty. There are alternatives that would work as well, but would be concealed.
I don't mind the look of it so I didn't even think to hide it.

Thank you
Beautiful result. Nicely done.

Well He _can,_ but He'd probably just allow His laws of nature to act themselves out.
Looks nice Drew, would look even better with a three bar cross.
