How to Change Universal Joint. Nissan Rear-Driveshaft Frontier/Pathfinder.

What does mean when the vehicle make a clunking noise during placing the transmission shifter in to DRIVE or REVERSE?. Some time you will want to check for damage engine or transmission rubber mount. Once the engine mount are in good condition and the clunking noise continue, you might want to check for worn out universal joint along the rear axle driveshaft. It does not matter if a rear wheel drive car or truck has a seal or greaseable universal joint fitted to the driveshaft, it will fail at some point in time make a clunking noise. Here we show you how to remove the broken, wore out universal joint and replace it with a greaseable fitting universal joint. The driveshaft is bolted to the 4x4 transfer case or sometime the transmission tail shaft housing and is connected to the rear differential axle housing. The driveshaft is required removal to Replace the front(transmission) and rear(differential) universal joints or cleaning and re-greasing of the spline slip yoke and inspection of its center bearing with rubber mount. A vehicle that continue to drive with a wore-out universal joint will cause damage to its shaft pinion bearing and oil seal. Inspection of driveshaft u-joints must be made evidence frequently. Some Driveshaft universal joint can require maintenance by using a grease gun to inject new grease into the u-joint needle roller bearing cups, while the old grease excape. Some Driveshaft are seal parts and does not allow #service #maintenance ,but careful inspection must be taken before driving the vehicle. A worn-out or damage driveshaft is always noticeable with a noise while driving. A driveshaft will make a banging noise when shifting into gear or changing transmission shift position from PARK to DRIVE or REVERSE to DRIVE gear. Dents or weights removal from driveshaft tube will lead to vibration while in spinning rotation. This vibration will decrease the performance of the driveshaft universal joints. Driveshaft with center mount bearing must not exhibit abnormal movement, always smooth rotation and fitted in its rubber mount.
