Like a planer they are identicaly, and after that start differences. M-346 is 1000 pound lighter than Y-130, because of using composite materials. Engines in M-346 are 3kN more powerful that Y-130, Max Speed of M-346 is 1255km/h, while Y-130 is 1050 km/h. There are big difference in reliability, specific fuel consumptions and endurance of the engines, too.

To all you saying shit, they are the result of a joint venture between Aermachi and Yakolev, Aermachi had 50% of the development and two russian companies shared the other 50% of development. Because of different requirements and the russian part not being able to pay its part (the early 2000s weren´t great years to russian economy), the joint venture was dissolved and each one kept development, no one copied from no one, they developed together at first and then kept separate ways

Due to disagreements with the Italian partner, the joint development at the final stage stopped. Each of the companies received documentation for the basic version of the future aircraft (glider), after which they released their own versions of the aircraft: Aermacchi built the M-346 TCB, and OKB im. Yakovlev - combat training aircraft Yak-130. L'alenia Aermacchi retained the rights to distribute and market the aircraft worldwide, with the exception of the CIS (including Russia).
Externally, the Italian M-346 aircraft is almost identical to the Yak-130, but the Italians installed their own equipment and engines.

one could say a successful collaboration between Russia and Italy. in fact, it rewards the Italian aircraft because there are commercial agreements. it also combines the advantage of being able to sell a plane to more countries, given that it is a training aircraft and that Italy has the opportunity to sell to the West as well as to the East. The M-346 is a different aircraft, internally and externally. The wing was moved up the fuselage, having been too low on the Yak-130 and causing horizontal stabiliser blanking at mid to high angle of attack (AoA). The leading-edge extensions (LEX) were reduced and redesigned to give a controllable vortex lift. Two small vertical fins were added at the wing roots to "trap" and control the LEX vortices at AoAs from 25-30° upwards. These LEX vortex controllers ensure the "vortex burst" over the wing at high AoA is symmetrical and controllable. The wing was remodelled to blend into the fuselage for improved span loading. Thickness was optimised from root to tip, and planform, profile and camber were optimised for best lift/drag over the widest possible envelope from short field and subsonic manoeuvre. Obviously avionics are totally different.

To use a trainer whose performances are very close to the real thing saves a lot of money, so countries that use last generation fighters are very interested in this kind of aircrafts ). @@Hidden_Trump Actually, the J-15 is the only one of the three to be equipped with afterburner, hence the longer nozzle and different rear fuselage. The M-346 does have a 1470 kph speed as a never-exceed one (above which the airframe will suffer damage, which I actually believe is roughtly the same between the two aircraft as they have nearly identical aerodynamics), but it can actually get to that (or even just supersonic) only with the help of a dive. The maximum speed it can reach by engine thrust alone is around 1250 (780 mph), higher than the one claimed in the video (maybe a typographical error, as it claims 680). According to what I dug up, the M-346 has slightly more powerful engines (6300 lbs thrust against 5510) than the Yak-140, thus it is simply natural that it is the faster of the two non-afterburning ones.

The plane was developed in cooperation and the result was the Aer-Yak 13 of 1996, the common prototype, then the two builders adapted their own designs to different technology/market/military requirements, Yak is more simple and cheap, more focused to dual role in third world countries, M 346 has higher training performances. Italian aircraft is the Italian version of the Russian Yak-130, that's a FACT... Name at least one Italian designer who participated in the development of the Yak-130, they are absolutely not, absolutely all the developers of this aircraft, all Russian, created it in Russia, and, long before the arrival of the Italian company, the majority has already been created... But, for the implementation of the practical part of the project, the money was already lacking, after the collapse of the Union, it was a difficult financial situation... The Russians agreed to provide all the technical documentation in exchange for financial support for the project... The Italians wanted to develop themselves, but the Yak-130 project was better, and in fact, the Italians just bought the Russian project... Requirements for such aircraft in Russia were too strict, so in Russia, immediately created a very reliable and durable aircraft that can fight, and which is very easy to repair, after the battle, at the same time, it is easy to maintain and maintain, as a training... Russia created a combat Training aircraft!!! In Europe, the requirements for aviation are weak, they are much easier, the Italians needed only training aircraft, combat aircraft were too tough and durable, according to European standards for training aircraft, Russian aircraft had excessive characteristics... Russian refused to do plastic planes, because after the battle, damaged after shelling, was incompatible with the repair, shot composite parts lose their rigidity, they cannot be repaired, composite parts, after firing, have to be replaced entirely... For a combat aircraft, this is unacceptable, the repair should be quick and cheap, and the composite aircraft can be repaired either long and expensive, or in the factory... The Italians wanted to have only training, so they left the project... By the way, the basic version of the M-346, called the Yak-130D, is a version of the aircraft at the time of Italy's exit from this project... over the next few years, the Italians have replaced some parts of the fuselage on the composite to reduce weight, put similar power to their engines, European avionics and began to produce as the M-346... In Russia, we continued to improve this aircraft, continued to experiment with various aviation alloys that could ensure the strength and survivability of the aircraft in real combat, while also reducing the weight, while developing weapons control systems, and electronics, for training simulations, various types of aircraft... As a result, Russia has created a combat Training aircraft, which, among other things, having a fully metal body, has a mass similar to the Italian, semi-composite M-346... By the way, since Italy decided to withdraw from the project, before the Russians created a full version of their aircraft, Yakovlev Design Bureau needed additional funding, therefore, the Ministry of defense, allowed to sell technical documentation on the Yak-38 and Yak-141,the Americans (1995), who created on the basis of the Yak-141, its stealth version of the f-35... Also, to increase funding at the final stages, it was decided to attract the Chinese... In the early 2000s, with American and Chinese money, it was possible to completely create an aircraft that fully meets the strict requirements of the Russian Ministry of Defense... In return, the Chinese received documentation and access to some Yak-130 technologies, as well as Russian designers, helped them to create a Chinese version of the aircraft... Hongdu L-15-Chinese combat Training aircraft, clone of the Yak-130...But, the Chinese wanted a plane with wider combat capabilities, so the Chinese put more powerful engines, these are the same engines as the Yak-130, but in the version with the afterburner, the speed increased by 1.5 times, and the oxygen station allows you to fly at an altitude of 16 km... Italian M-346 costs about 30 million dollars... Chinese Hongdu L-15, about $ 10 million... Russian Yak-130, the export value of about 15 million dollars, in Russia it is sold for about 7-7. 5 million dollars...

@@MrUomoZucca the English version of Wikipedia is very circumcised, a lot of information is taken out of context... in the English version, the history of the Yak-130, begins in 1991... In real life, the history of this aircraft began in the late 1980s... Anyway, my first flight, the Yak-130 made April 25, 1996... Turn on the brain, you really think that a completely new aircraft, you can design, create several prototypes, blow them in the wind tunnel, create engines and initial electronics... For 2.5 years...???!!!) You seriously..???) According to your logic, the cooperation began only in 1993 year, and the plane flew in the early 1996, that is, you really think that the aircraft was created for 2 years, and a few months...???)) This is nonsense... Here's a clipping, from Russian Wikipedia, it's not in the English version... Competition for the creation of a new UBS was announced in the late 1980s. The new machine was to become a universal twin-engine aircraft for training pilots, from the initial flight training and ending with the features of combat use, as well as to maintain flight skills in combat units.
In the future, these aircraft should completely replace the outdated fleet of Czechoslovak aircraft L-39, according to a rough estimate, this should happen within 10-13 years, and become the main combat training unit of the Russian air force. Many of the L-39s used in Russia as aircraft for training cadets have long flown their resource. That is why in the late 1980s in the USSR was announced a tender for the development of training aircraft. Serial production of the L-39 was completed in 1999, and The l-159, a modern version of the aircraft, was not ordered by the Ministry of defence of the Russian Federation due to the change in the geopolitical orientation of the Czech Republic and its transition to the "probable enemy"camp.
Russian air force chose two projects-Yak-130 and MiG-at. For the development of the new aircraft required large funds, which had neither the developers nor the Ministry of defense of Russia, so the aircraft were designed in conjunction with foreign firms - Yak-130 with Italian Alenia Aermacchi, and MiG-at - with French companies. Further... In the description of the M-346 clearly written: the basic model
Yak-130D. Moreover, the modern appearance of the M-346, it is an exact copy of the base model Yak-130D, the Italians did not change anything in the shape of the aircraft, as they considered the design complete... the changes affected the materials used in structures, composites and titanium, reducing the weight by 700 kg, relative to the base model... Russian, considered the design unfinished, so I continued to improve the aerodynamics, if you look closely, you can find a large number of differences from the base model... As a result, the Russian aircraft is completely assembled from reliable metal alloys, but by weight, it is equal to, with a semi-composite M-346... Of course, the engines and electronics are different... In Russia, all components of military equipment are created in Russia... In Italy, all different countries... You can count the adaptation of the engine and electronic components, at the expense of the Italians... Although, if I'm not mistaken, the wheel suspension, the Italians slightly changed... In the Chinese L-15, used drawings of the finished Yak-130, therefore, in contrast to the Italian, this aircraft looks more like the Yak-130, at the same time, this aircraft uses components made of composite materials, because it uses a forced version of the engine, which was first produced in Ukraine, this engine is heavier and longer than the basic Russian engine, therefore, the rear of the aircraft is somewhat similar to the Yak-130D and M-346, but has large engine nozzles

Russian Yak and Italian, after while Italians withdraw from the project and living Yak to develop on his own. But some how they kept some paperworks from the project. That is why the Italian model has some similarities with Yak-130 but both planes are completely two deferent jets .

Wrong, the development outside from the general studies already performed by Yak started officially in 1993 with both the company already in it, and both company put in the project their own founds 50% each, both companies gained a lot in the cooperation, Aermacchi got access to the preliminary studies on the aerodynamic (we don't have to confuse the fact that the aircraft looks similar but in the end they have many differences, every paper plane looks the same but some can fly and others can't..) Yak got the founds to start the development (because in that time the economic situation was really bad in Russia) and also access to the know how of one of the most successful producer of trainers in the west, the plane that flew in 1996 (?) was a co produced and was named yak-aem-130 with both companies name on it, we don't know why the partnership ended in 2000, some says because the Russian side was unable to put their part of the money in it, other says that were technical reason behind it, with the Russian side that wanted a simpler (cheaper) airplane in terms of technologies and the Italian side pushing for a high end product, that make sense considering that Aermacchi was pointing already at Eurofighter/JSF (at the time) while having the A339CD selling on the market, so no rush the 346 was meant for the Eurotrainer program and maybe the USA competition, that's also why the 346 is considerable lighter (with more or less the same size) of the yak 130, the construction tech is at least comparable with the eurofighter with large use of composite, I don't meant to say that one is better than the other, I meant just to say that they are different aircraft with different technologies but most import different philosophy, before someone start to rant about the fact that I said that the m346 is more advanced than the Yak 130 (in certain terms at least) I just want to remember that a 346 cost around 20M dollars WAY more than a Yak 130 (almost like a mig 29!) those money are going into something! I think that is stupid to negate the great aerodynamic studies from Yak and the general idea of a platform, but saying that Italian stolen the design or copied something is unfair, without the Italian moneys and the Italian peoples working along sides with the Russian both the planes today would have not been here most probably... so put away your nationalism.. is old like your aircraft fleet..

@UCujPj1VrZnaTP1YIVzODKLw really? the wing of a 346 is half the section of a 130 is it really a copy? do you think they fly the same way? I repeat Yak have done the general design study before the cooperation started, for the rest was a paper plane, I don't think there is a single peace/quote in common in the two aircraft and the flight performance will be quite different in a similar spectrum.
