In this video we give our out of the theater thoughts on the new movie Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. We tell you what we liked and disliked about the new Ghostbusters movie. Yes you're right Michelle! Jason Reitman did not return to direct this movie, that's one big reason why it didn't work tbh.
I walked out it wasn't going anywhere. Ramis wrote Ghostbusters he is gone now the magic just isn't there.

I just got home from the movie and saw it I enjoyed it. I don't care what people are saying about it
Another thing, I want this movie to do good enough at the box office that they can justify to make more and have franchise continue, but closer to that great level ! You both look radiant in the change of environment BTW ❤
Love you guys, loved the film, I disagree with it having the rhythm issue, I thought the tempo was great. But you're right, the actor Kumail Nanjiani did a great job!
I thought it was underwhelming; a few things I liked, but the villain didn’t do much and there’s a lot of forced humor.
Hmm, I got the feeling something seemed off from the trailers. I think Jason Reitman gave Afterlife the heart and made it a family affair. I have to see this one to judge, but it feels a little more corporate. Great review ladies!

Gil Keenan directed this movie. He has a background in animation and directed "Monster House"(2006).
I knew even before the trailers were released that the film would be poor, due to it being written by the same people who wrote Afterlife, which I thought was a very poorly written film.
Personally, there's alot more going on then slower based afterlife. Which made frozen empire better and more fun.
A topic I want to discuss is Phoebe romancing a girl ghost. I was like, what the?!!!😳💥🤣
I thought it was an improvement over Afterlife which was lacking but the problems with FE are systematic of Afterlife.

Did Rick Moranis make a cameo ❓ Maybe not spoil, but I heard a rumor Annie Potts dons the gear. Good Izzie liked it maybe Gen Z will carry on Ghostbusters unlike Star Wars it seems. I hope the exposition talking scenes won’t be as bad as ASHOKA staring at each other with nothing happening 🤣

Me & my mom saw the movie since yesterday, and we enjoyed it, also, look: I'm not expecting this film to be the ironic 1984 original. However, I thought it's was a fun early summer popcorn film (even though spring just already arrived). But, overall I'm like the movie and the little cute marshmallow and slimer as well (those are two ghosts that I like) 👻🚫💚😌
I might see it at some point. Two three hoots are not bad.
I'll watch clips. Maybe a blue ray bundle on sale in 8 years I bought Afterlife for $10 this week and never saw it before. The sleazy humor bits only work in an 80's comedy. But if we were yanked around with this much fan service in Disney Star Wars, we might not be alive.
I agree with all your points here, this movie was just messy it wasnt bad, but nowhere near as good as Afterlife. The main villain it's design was really cool, i liked the way it moved, almost stop-motion animated and just freaky, but lacked any real personality and we hardly saw it.
I also loved seeing the O.Gs thry were handled really well, Dan Ackroyd they really did alot with him here which o was surprised about. I didnt like the Ghost Girl and Phoebe felt under-develoeped here, felt like they wrote her to be queer-coded in this movie.

Jason Reitman directed Afterlife which he co-wrote with Gil Keenan who directed this movie. I think this film introduces too many new characters when it would have been more effective focusing on Phoebe and her family and the OG's
thanks for sharing, but you have to remember this movie was made as if it was an episode of the Real Ghostbusters, the cartoon. If you didn't watch them or watch them recently, then i understand why things could not seem as good, but as a super GB Fan and one who has watched everything even the extreme GB this movie makes more sense. But great thoughts!

For some reason I thought this was directed again by Jason Reitman so was disappointed when I found out he didn't. Kind of like one of these Conjuring or Insidious movies without James Wan.
I’ve still not seen the previous Ghostbusters film as I never had a chance to see in theaters when it came out due to other movies out at the time and also being very busy on top of things as well as never getting the blu-ray, for whatever reason, and also not having the streaming service the film is on. So while I want to see this new one, I don’t know when that’ll be as I want to make sure to see the previous film to ensure that I know what all happens in that one so I don’t possibly get confused when watching this one. Thanks for talking about this film and for not spoiling it. Hope you both are doing well, take care!

i just saw it, i liked afterlife alot. This movie was a 2 outta 5 for me. I didn't laugh once, the writing was bad and the pacing was way off. it was like a single episode of the cartoon which would've been nice had they done more with slimer and not put every good part in the trailer.
I'm sensing that there is just too many ingredients in this movie (the fact that anyone can be a ghostbuster is just plain stupid). I want to watch it but don't want to be disappointed.
I just saw it, and these days, I go into movies barely expecting to like them.
I was annoyed by the newer characters in "Ghostbusters: Afterlife." In this one, they started out a bit more tolerable.
As soon as the chess scene with the girl happened, I could feel it was heading in a kooky, shoehorned direction that is apparently required in these movies nowadays. All the SJW will be both happy to see it and offer some complaints because it doesn't go further.
Yup. I'm glad they didn't go that route in the movie. The route were all thinking about thats in EVERYTHING these days. Hope they don't put it in the 5th film. Or it'll be dead on arrival.
For me most movies that I go see I just switch my brain off but here n there still I pick apart the movies and tv show's but I guess from watching alot of Siskel and Ebert then criticism always apart of the viewing experience but I will see this movie twice

It was dragged out way too long before garaka showed up! There wasn’t much build up other than talking about him. I left the cinema a bit underwhelmed, but I still enjoyed.

Not as good as Afterlife for sure. Just out of the theater myself. Afterlife is an 8.5 for me. This is a 6.5/7. I did like the slow development and more story for this movie, but the teenage lesbian innuendo was a major turnoff
there is a quasi queer implied relationship between Melody ( ice ghost) and Pheobe spengler an i feel it was inappropriate for children ! . should have been let out as well as Lucky's character . these 2 things felt like they were ESG/DEI inserts .
They definitely pushed it while also leaving it to the audience interpretation.
The thing about that is that if it were a few decades ago, the girls would just be friends. Now, though, we know that an attraction is exactly what the film is intentionally pushing and implying.
I want to say this there’s nothing wrong with mispronouncing someone’s name it happens all the time same thing that there’s nothing wrong with identifying someone’s Ethnicity But it depends on how you say in a sentence or in a tone.
Anyway the way you describe this movie I agree it definitely was OK however 1980s comedy to comedy today I mean let’s be honest it’s just not in its golden era anymore

I can't stand the way today they keep trying to continue or remake older movies. The first two Ghostbusters and Afterlife were great. Just leave it at that. Seems like studios can no longer come up with original content and are just trying to make money from previous blockbusters.
I just got home from seeing it with my daughter. I liked the time we spent with the characters. I thought every character had their place and had something to do. The pacing was definitely off and I would say the story was in many ways small scale. I enjoyed it for the most part and would watch again at home. Know inf where it goes, I’m curious to see what I will pick up in a rewatch.
This film felt like it could have been better if it had less characters. Too many subplots and explaining bogged it down for me.
