    He didn’t just look good in the “if I can dream” white suit close up. He perfectly captured the way that the people there described Elvis’ emotional state before performing “if I can dream” for the comeback special. Judging from the first trailer I have a feeling they are also going to show how he put so much emotion into that he literally collapsed after performing it. Since it was an MLK tribute he felt deeply connected to it. Like reverend Brewster told him though “when things are to difficult to say, sing”. Great Reaction!

    The man is not only a legend he is the King of legends. He sold 50 million records 4 years straight and 25 million a year after that. Plus so many more things. Austin looks like he nails this performance he trained 2 years for this role.

    Elvis Presley has changed the world like no other since the 1950s. In 2022 it's time for Elvis to do it again. the world needs some relaxation again and love. elvis presley once said: "i thank god for the happiness he gave me so that i can make people happy. i share everything i have with everyone who isn't so lucky!" elvis presley regularly donated to 50 charities. When elvis was on tour or on a private trip, he always gave people presents. elvis presley was a religious man who saw his happiness and wealth in making people happy over and over again. he got this love and respect for people from his mother and his belief in god.

    I was working the incoming calls for the Memphis Fire Dept.alarm office...early afternoon 8/16/1977...we got a call from Graceland requesting an ambulance STAT...when the driver said they were transporting to Baptist Hosp. on Union ave, we had a bad feeling...within a couple of hrs, we were getting calls from around the world wanting particulars...sad day for Memphis(and a lot of the world!).

    To his fans one can say that it does not really have to explain who Elvis really is. seeing in some passages there is already an extremism and exaggeration in order to add more color and excitement to what Elvis went through. It is clear that there is a trending edit here to the character of Elvis for better or worse. For those who really admire Elvis we know that there is a very large complexity of Elvis here. The film will probably bring out Elvis very well according to what is said about the film by his granddaughter who saw it and Elvis' daughter.

    I grew up in Memphis. Elvis walking out to the front yard would cause major traffic problems on the (then) two lane Elvis Presley Blvd. I remember August 16, 1977 and the aftermath. Memphians sort of looked upon Elvis as a neighbor. Most knew he was big, but not quite the "big" following his death, as within hours, 70,000 people were out front of Graceland. The city was not ready for it. I worked at the mansion when it first opened in 1982. I could not believe all the people from all over the world who visited. I remember one Saturday. I get to my post, and Diane Keaton was right there in line with camera in hand, just like the everyone else. I had no idea how big Elvis was.

    My mother was a big fan of Elvis's and I became one too.
    I wish my mother was alive when I spent a week working with Red West on the set of the Disney film Glory Roads along with Josh Lucas and Jon Voight.
    Red had some pretty cool back stories about him an Elvis which I'm sure are all out there. But actually coming straight from the horses mouth was pretty cool. I heard a lot of bad things about Red over the years but he couldn't have been nicer to me and the cast.

      @Richard Craig Yea, I believe Elvis was heavily inspired by African-American music, including church music.

    • @ornellabarbaro3861
      @ornellabarbaro3861 2 роки тому

      @Richard Craig Again @ Richard Craig how did Elvis borrow from Big Mamma Thorpe?
      Hound Dog was written by two white Jewish men called Lieberman and Stoller . Three people recorded Hound Dog. 1. A country white artist ( can’t remember his name ). The song didn’t do well.
      2. Was Big Mamma Thorpe. Did well in the black community but made no money for Lieberman and Stoller.
      3. Elvis Presley. Huge hit for Lieberman and Stroller.
      Now explain to me and all other people how he “ borrowed ( as many like to say stole ) from black musicians ?
      I asked you this again. Is nurturing and place of birth as or more important than DNA?
      Elvis was born into and lived and breathed the black communities culture, mean while attending a white school during the day. Walking over the tracks back into his home in Tupelo back into the black communities culture.
      Elvis absorbed all the surrounding music around him . Now because he is not black, Elvis borrowed, stole, cheated because his dna says he’s white. Is that not reverse discrimination. Does the-colour of one’s skin or the place of birth and nurturing by the people you grew up with make up the essence of the man? 🤔🤔🤔
      Do your research and you’ll find that I’m correct.
      The same thing ….. Elvis was not a racist. He was framed as a racist by a white reporter I hopes that black community would turn their back on Elvis. Hoping this would divide Elvis and the black artist. This was proven wrong and fake by Jet Magazine. ( the top negro magazine of the time) but again given legs by early black rappers that again wanted a rift between Elvis and the black artists. Hence the hate and lies re born.

    • @ornellabarbaro3861
      @ornellabarbaro3861 2 роки тому

      @Richard Craig Actually no I never thought that at all. Of course the blues and rock n roll began with the black community . You are missing my point completely . All I m saying is that socialization is also a huge influence on what a person absorbs and grows into and who’s has the right to say that It’s wrong and not acceptable. Hence is nurturing also not to be taken into consideration.
      If Elvis never credited the black community or even said for one minute that he was the reason for rock n roll then I would be totally against his reasoning. And absolutely be angry at his Gaul. But quite the opposite. Elvis gave credit to all the originals pioneers and also mentions he could never be as good or as talented as the originals of r n b then I do take offence because Elvis was never the person that certain people made him out to be. That is my point. If he stole anything or was a thief why would he credit and praise the black musicians? Is he not also allowed his experiences in his upbringing even tho he was white? That’s were I said the nurturing comes in. Not the DNA. Why vilify the man who sang what came natural to him because he happened to be white? He doesn’t deserve to be hated or lied about because he absorbed the style and sound of rhythm and blues.
      Elvis never ever invented r n b .
      He gave credit to the artists.
      He praised their talent as being untouchable.
      He never put himself above the black artist.
      He stood with the black community and never ever swayed in his belief’s even though he was ridiculed, harassed and threatened.
      But I do believe he put his twist by combining r n b with other genre of music and also applied his own style to his performances.
      I truly believe he opened the doors and made it acceptable for all artists. In other words made R n Roll acceptable.
      Credit is so important yes. Then also give him credit where credit is due. This doesn’t work only one way.
      Hideous lies and stories have emerged since his death and honestly its a-shame because he doesn’t deserve it.

    • @ornellabarbaro3861
      @ornellabarbaro3861 2 роки тому

      @Richard Craig You already received my comment in another blog. 🤦‍♀️😩 . You missed my point.

    • @ornellabarbaro3861
      @ornellabarbaro3861 2 роки тому

      @Richard Craig Because it’s what I have been reading and hearing since the 1980s that’s why. I’m trying to make my feelings understood by giving examples of many many rude offensive words by different people who all of the sudden made Elvis enemy number one.
      I am speaking of words that have been used interchangeably like borrowed and stole.
      You now know exactly my point . Don’t twist my words to bring me down to a level where I’m taking away from the black heritage and influence.
      I’m defending a man who has done no wrong and being crucified so unjustly.
      😑😑😫

    Elvis was also deeply conventional and traditional, and knew that he had to appeal to a non-rock audience as well. This is key to understanding his huge impact on music. "Love Me Tender" and "It's Now Or Never", each based on old melodies, are not rock and roll.

    Thanks for your reaction. Neither Hanks nor Austin Butler look or sound like the characters they play. Parker may have been Dutch, but he did not have a heavy accent like Tom Hanks portrays in this movie (plenty of clips of him talking on UA-cam). Most actors who portrayed Elvis made the same mistake that Austin Butler makes: they talk with a deep voice that is more reminiscent of Elvis impersonators. Just look up Elvis interview clips and you'll hear he actually had a pretty high voice when he talked. And nobody who ever played Elvis was as handsome as he was, that is just impossible. Elvis was born in a 1 room shack of a house his dad built with money he borrowed from his boss on January 8, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi. That's how dirt poor they were. He was one half of identical twins; the other boy - Jesse Garon - was stillborn. They were so poor, that Jesse Garon was buried in a shoebox in an unmarked grave. At Graceland they have a plaque with his name on it in his memory. He always got along with the black community and learned a lot about music from his friends of color. Also, according to the one drop rule, Elvis would not be considered white, since he has Cherokee ancestors on both the Smith (his mother) and the Presley (his father) sides of the family. His paternal grandfather was not happy that his two sons, Elvis' father Vernon and his brother Vester, married two sisters, Gladys and Clettes who were known to have Cherokee blood in their family tree. But he was in denial about the Cherokee blood in his own family tree. As a child, Elvis already had many friends in the black community at the time his family was one of 4 "white" families that lived in the predominantly black neighborhood The Hill, just across from Shake Rag. His childhood friend Sam Bell said that some of the (black) kids in that neighborhood had lighter skin than Elvis (ua-cam.com/video/LrFCyNMvZWk/v-deo.html). One of Elvis' bodyguards once said that he thought it was a miracle Elvis got into Humes High School in Memphis, because it was "lily white". Elvis wanted to be more open about his Native ancestry, but his manager "colonel" Tom Parker (real name Andreas van Kuijk) was against it because he was afraid it might cost Elvis fans (and himself money). They did have Elvis play characters in his movies though where he had Native American blood (Flaming Star, G.I. Blues, Stay Away Joe). Once Elvis had his own (apprentice) job learning to be an electrician, he saved up his money and bought his clothes in the same style that many of his friends of color wore. He was called a (forgive me, just stating facts here) "n-lover" and got beaten up several times too. Later, when he was an established star, he would not perform at places where the members of color of his back-up band/orchestra weren't allowed.

    No loving feeling here, but I've seen so many documentaries, live footage and interviews over the decades that I am burned-out. Oddly, not so with The Beatles. Never tire of them.
