For the guy below , this series of wheeled Marshall were all hand built by one dedicated team of guys per tractor in the original Marshall,s of Gainsborough factory in Lincolnshire , England . Mr Nickerson bought the tractor division of British Leyland , formerly of Bathgate , Scotland , & moved it to Gainsborough to the crawler factory he already had . ( Track Marshall ) . The engines are superb , direct injection 4 or 6 cylinder , turbo,d depending on size & Hp requirement , excellent starters & one of the most economic engines I have ever had the pleasure of working with , the cranks are all in 5 bearings with a balancer on , this provides smooth running & good structural strength , they were a Leyland developed engine , the 98 series & to me one of the best . Just keep 40% antifreeze in it all the time , & change the oil on the dot .
the engine had very good low down torque, and the rear linkage design (which goes right back to Nuffields) was cleverly done giving best in class traction for their day. I used to demo these, and even in 2 wd would blow other tractors away. Nice to drive too, Smooth quiet engine

They were extremely grippy tractors we had a 4 furrow plough on a 282 (2wd blue one) Leyland.
