- In the 1950s, Rolex introduced the Oyster Precision models to attack the lower end of the market place.
In todays video we want to show you how Rolex mastered the balancing act between a high quality watch and low prices.

I just bought the Rolex Oyster Precision 6426 Silver Dial from 1971, it's a magnificent watch with a pretty dial and a beautiful finish that is both Chic and luxurious, I'm super happy with it!!
We are happy that you like your piece
I just purchased a mint condition 6424 model with a 36mm case. I love this watch. Simple, elegant and understated! Goes with jeans or a suit! Winding a watch daily suits me just fine. So much so that I rarely wear any of my other time pieces. I guess for me, the Precision model is all I need! Thanks for the great video!
Hi Michel, thanks kindly! The precision is a Rolex, reduced on its essentials, for every occasion :D
congratulatrion brother. hope one day i will get mine too
Fingers crossed !
@@GoldammerVintageWatches You have 20 fingers.
I recently came into possession of my father's 6426 champagne dial steel bracelet Oyster precision Rolex 1964 (vintage). What is its nominal or current value? The hands, dial, and case have some minor corrosion but it still winds and works.
Great video, Felix. Thanks for sharing and keep it up!
Thanks for you feedback Aaron! Means a lot to us! 🙏
Love your videos my brother. Very interesting Rolex history. My favorite part is when you tell us how much the watch was selling for when it first came out. I have subscribed to your channel and this is my first comment. Keep up the good work. Thank you. I will check the other videos.
Thanks for you huge feedback Robert! I also love the part with the selling prices. I’ll try to integrate it into our next videos, but it’s very difficult to find these information. Fingers crossed :D kind regards, Felix
That bracelet tapers so nicely... amazing watch!
Absolutely agree! Love those textures ⚡️
A brilliantly informative and well presented video.
Thank you! 🙂👍
Much thanks for your feedback ☺️🙏 have a great weekend!
@@GoldammerVintageWatches And you, thank you. 👍
✌️
Great video! I have an oyster date precision and it's lovely!
Thank you so much! It was a good decision 👍
Oyster-Love is true love!
Indeed! Classy love
This watch get the most use out of my modest collection. Understated & Classy Classic. Great show!
I can understand why! It’s the epitome of a daily beater. How big is your collection?
@@GoldammerVintageWatches 25-30 total. Ranging in price between $500 - $2000. Grail will be a Patek. ;)
Nice :D Do you already know which Patek it should be ? Calatrava?
@@GoldammerVintageWatches Price matters for me but, yes, likely a Calatrava - I watched your video. Keep up the great work! 😇
Much thanks man! I will!!
just realize you have youtube chanel congrats bro
Exactly, thank you :-)
I have both 6424 and 6426.
Love them both.
I don't why but my 6424 is super accurate. The technician must have do a very good job with it.
Beautiful ! Your watchmaker seems to make a good job 😀
Does your 6424 have the original bracelet and how much did you buy it for?
@@leomedina5614
No original bracelet.
Rolex leather strap only.
The prices are going up. Go and get one asap.
@@q3813 can you tell a difference between a 35mm and 36mm case?
Hey Leo, I found my 6424 on Ebay pre covid for a very inexpensive price without the steel bracelet. As luck would have it, a local family owned jeweler had a number of vintage steel Rolex bracelets in his safe. One matched my watch perfectly and he sold it to me for a very fair price. Sometimes, you get lucky. I had no idea how much this watch would go up in value these past 3 years. However, I bought it to wear not for an investment. Cheers mate!
Nice video as always and very informative, so big thanks Felix🎉🎉🎉
Ref 6426 from '73. was my first ticket to Rolex world and I am still enjoying it almost every day.
Very classic and simple look with a beautiful dial.
You noticed well that it feels bigger than it is (I agree 100%).
Thanks again and have a nice day 🎉🎉
Thanks for sharing this with us! How many watches do you have right now in your collection?
@@GoldammerVintageWatches around 10 (for now😃)
7 more than me 🤫🤤

i had a 6426 for 32 years up to 2021,great little watch.....was stolen in a home invasion, really miss it.i'm always thinking about replacing it but haven't done so yet.
Beautiful daily beater! In steel with silver dial? It’s definitely worth it to think about replacing :-)
My dad bought the manual 6426 in 1958. Still have the paper. My dad's memory went and he went into the pool with it . I have it now. Need to get it cleaned and serviced.
Beautiful watch
Qué reloj tan elegante y estético.
Unfortunately we don’t speak Spanish 😅

Okay: It's a beautiful Watch. Very nice vintage Rolex. 😁👌
Haha much thanks 🙏😅😜
Sir ? I do have a 6694 oyster date (my 1st ) with serial 82###8 ... i was wondering if can you tell us which year this was manufactured , all the right pieces such as dials , bezels , bracelets & most of all the proper way on winding ... & how many hours would it normally run until after it was fully wound ? ... i really found your video much more better than the rest ...ohhh & by the way ... it is very mesmerizing listening to the sound when you wind the watch & put the watch very close to your ear while listening how it runs !!!! ... thank you & have a fruitfull times ahead ....
Mine has silver dial with diamond markers & lume with like a railroad running around the outer dial ... on a nice leather strap though ... from my local pawnshop ...
My primary reason is to bring it back to its original form ..
Hi there, thanks for your kind feedback and gratulation to your first Rolex! The 6694 was produced from 1958 to 1989. Because of the diamond indexes I think it has to be out of the 1980s. We would recommend that you bring the watch to a really good watchmaker in your near. He can give you much more information.
Thanks for sharing !!
It’s 1978 or 1980s
So you recommend this for a first watch or watch?
For sure!!
If you prefer a watch with a date, there is also the Rolex Oysterdate 6694.
great watch! 99$? I'll take it :D
Haha i would take a lot more for this price :D
I have one air king 5500 it's a great
💯
Hey Felix I’m Felix too 🤷🏻♂️ LOL
Haha best name ever 😎
@@GoldammerVintageWatches it’s an acquired taste 🤣🤷🏻♂️
Exactly 😂🤘🤘
3:51 Weren't the movements made by Aegler and thus not in-house?
As far as we found out they were made entirely in-house. Do you have any other sources?
@@GoldammerVintageWatches Aegler is a separate company, but they made movements under Rolex and were closely associated with Rolex. So closely associated that they named themselves Manufacture de Montres Rolex. However, they also made movements for Gruen at least until the 30s, and weren't technically owned by Rolex until 2004 if I recall correctly.
Aegler actually dates back to before Rolex does though, having origins back to 1878. They were generally called Rolex's in-house movement provider but that's not entirely the case.
Two separate, closely related companies, both using the rolex name yet technically distinct entities.
As far as I can tell Rolex didn't have any in-house movement capabilities and rather relied on Aegler for their movements. Except in the case of the very early Daytonas which used Valjoux 72s and later El Primero calibers.
It's semantics really, but it's an interesting story. Without Aegler, there would be no Rolex. The Perpetual movement was from Aegler for Rolex's exclusive use.
@@GoldammerVintageWatches I'd send you some links but unfortunately UA-cam just removes all comments with links now.
Can you send it via Instagram?
wenn das auf deutsch wäre, wäre das ein super video
Wenn dir englisch nicht so liegt hilft dir eventuell die Untertitel Funktion! :)
4:10 Is it actually safe to turn the hands CCW on a vintage hand-wound watch like that? Not gonna lie, seeing that made me feel rather uncomfortable, as I never see people doing that with mechanical watches, and most people would discourage even trying that.
Turn the hands either way. You’re safe. This classic three handed watches are designed to permit turning the hands backwards. That goes for both mechanical watches, and quartz.
That watch was very dusty. Mine from 1982 is mint.
I will see it.
Rolex is always the beXt.
The bext? 😅
I thought 6424’s were 36MM?
Not always, but mostly :)
@@GoldammerVintageWatches this is my next watch I would love to purchase. I have an Oysterquartz but I would love a precision with no date they are just attractive!!
Good decision! We also love them. Reduced to its essentials. :-)
@@GoldammerVintageWatches cheers mate! Keep up the good work!

Hey 👋 what do you mean ?
@@GoldammerVintageWatches The reason why Rolex is not cool anymore. I wish they manufactured entry level watches again but that's not going to happen, is it? Great video.
Ahhh. Totally agree, but have a look in their vintage pieces like the precision & oyster date models. In our opinion they are perfect entry level watches :-) thanks for your feedback!!
