Handong was gone for a year. She's in Korea on a work visa. When Covid broke out all visas issued in Wuhan were cancelled by the South Korean government. Handong is from Wuhan.

Im not trying to hate anything here, but sadly, this guide is not that good honestly. It shows some stuffs for the girls, but thats all.
The guide from 2021/22 is the best guide out there. It has way more stuffs from the group, from the girls and even recommendations to know them better in general. Interviews, streams, parodies, shows, etc.
Jiu is the leader and the oldest member. But she is like a kid sometimes. By her personality, u can kwow her for being the fake maknae or even the dad (mainly because the bad jokes). She is my bias and for sure (imo at least) the most cute member towards fun. You'll notice her crying pretty much in every single concert at some point. Or being the last member on going out the stage saying goodbye to every single one there.
Sua is pretty much the mother of the group, she takes care of every single member. She is lovely but has a strong personality. She is quite formal aswell.
She is known for her dance, but her singing voice... is not joke. You'll get even more in love with her with time, there is too much content. At this point, she is doing the impossible to take the bias title out from Jiu for me.
Siyeon is the most random member by far. You'll never know what the h3ll is going on in her brain.
Handong is quite mysterious and shy, introvert and PERVERT.
Yoohyeon is the puppy of the group, she is playful, mischievous and known as Tom and Jerry (with Sua).
Dami is the most calm member. She write a lot for the group. She barely eats (the members gets shock when she asks for food tbh haha) and ye, her vocals are really good.
Gahyeon is the most cute human being out there (She "doesnt like" being called cute). She is nowdays the most loud member and she is savage for sure.
They renewed their contracts and we have dreamcatcher for years :D. They are like a real family. They travel together, they live together, they play together... They are very united.
Important note: if u wanna know more stuffs about their personalities, you both need to watch the "This is..." series from Insomnicsy (videos from 2020 to 2023 so far). Those are short videos (around 7 mins) but every single clip is crazy good. In fact, Insomnicsy is imo the most important content creator out there if you want content from the girls.

The extensive guide of Dreamcatcher 2023 is also a good one and the most updated. Although I have to say 2021/2022 remain superior but for newer people who choose the most update guides to see, not a bad choice.
I think the switch to the rock sound when they formed Dreamcatcher was based on two big factors. The first being that the CEO of Happyface was a BIG Jrock fan and I think he even worked with some Jrock groups before he joined Happyface. The second big factor is Siyeon. Siyeon was actually in a rock band in high school and loved rock music. She actually auditioned at Happyface to be a solo singer and had no intension of being in an Idol group. When the company told her she was debuting in a cutesy girl group she was pretty shocked and had a HUGE learning curve when it came to dancing. So, when MINX got buried under all the major girl group debuts that happened around the same time, I think the CEO took a chance and redebuted them with Siyeon's skillset in mind. Which, is interesting that you said Siyeon fits the concept so well. 😁
However, alot of the other members were super nervous about the switch in concept because they really haven't ever trained in rock vocals before. But, through their determination and dedication, every member has blossomed as rock vocalists and just vocalists in general. They recently came out with a rock version of their ballad Lullaby off their second album and comparing the vocals from then and now is amazing! ^_^
The "Visual" posistion is actually not only because they think that she's the prettiest or something(they are all pretty), the "visual".position is actually the member who fits closest to KBS(korean beauty standards)
Their roles are a bit weird. The only proper roles in the group are main dancer (Sua), main rapper (Dami), main vocal (Siyeon) and leader (Jiu) and they are the only ones doing those specific role responsibilities. Yoohyeon shares main vocal duties with Siyeon on b-sides, Dami does a lot of singing, Jiu and Sua co-parent the group and all of them are above average dancers. But the members generally do all the things, all the members do the high notes or killing parts, all of them have been centre during dance breaks at certain points. The roles mostly carried over from their time as Minx. The reason Gahyeon and Handong are sub vocalists was because they trained for only 6 months each and debuted before an official role was picked out for them, they sort of developed their skills and found their parts during their career as active idols. Gahyeon isn't officially a lead rapper and the fandom refers to her as such because Sua who was the original lead rapper later said she prefers to focus on vocals and considers Gahyeon a better rapper than her. The sub-vocalists of the group Sua, Gahyeon and Handong have actually covered and nailed one of their hardest vocal covers (twinkle by snsd)

Sunmi (the singer Yoohyeon is a fan of) debuted in 2007 (she was in a girl group but has been a soloist for years now) so her telling them to call her if they need everything is so nice because she knows a lot about the industry. She is amazing

They relied heavily on international promotion to get to where they are now. It was only relatively recently that they got recognition in Korean mainstream. However, they did not need foreign members for international appeal; the quality of their music sufficed (and the wonderful personalities of the members certainly helped). Also, though you couldn't see it on this video, Yoohyeon is very good at English, even if she never lived anywhere else. To explain the Korean attitude towards rock at the time: Korea had rock bands like everywhere else, till a 2005 live TV incident. A band called Rux invited friends on stage, and two members of The Couch joined them... and proceeded to drop trousers, and swing their sausages around... on live TV... in a very conservative country. It resulted in people in jail or fired, the show getting cancelled, and rock almost dying in Korea.

idk if the guide says it or if someone else has said it but i wanna say most of the members absolutely hate the minx era. handong and gahyeon often make jokes about the era and sing/dance to the songs but the others don't like talking about it. dami for example hates the era because she was a minor at the time and was forced into a sexy concept and to wear short and revealing clothes, plus if you watch the mvs a lot of the scenes are closeups to their legs/feet/thighs. siyeon has some sort of trauma from back then, here's a quote of her talking about the time: "just thinking of then, my eyes would turn red. during that period, all of the members fell into a slump severely. i refused to and hated to listen to any kinds of songs. every time i laid in bed, i cried a lot.". another example would be sua being uncomfortable with people like stylists and such touching her hair because of the short hair she used to have, unsure why exactly but it's related to something that happened during minx era. Overall as i said, most of the members don't really like talking about that time in their career. jiu jokes about it from time to time but generally it's kind of an unspoken rule for insomnias to not mention/talk about minx with the girls

About the genre, the company founder and also CEO spent much of his time in Japan before starting the HappyFace Company. As you know, the earlier track takes a lot from J-rock element, that's why some people hear it similar to an anime opening
He is one of the people behind the "X Japan Tour" in Korea and knows their members personally. Btw, X Japan is one of the most popular J-rock bands in their respective times. Before HappyFace Company, the CEO also owns the very first Japanese Music Store in Korea
So, he takes a lot of influence from Japanese Pop Culture
Not just the musicality, but the way DC dressed is really similar to how Japanese Idol like AKB48 looks (in a more subtle way). You can see all the influence through formation, dance movement, and other creative parts
Siyeon was in a school rock band before Minx, so she was always inclined toward DC style. Their CEO previously specialized in bringing J-Rock groups music to Korea so DC style was something he was well familiar with.
Also, that's not at all how you pronounce Yoohyeon, even after she corrected you multiple times, you still didn't do it right.

I read about a bridge in S Korea which had an unusually high rate of suicides. To combat this, they had messages written on the rail, and one of them was "have you eaten?" The idea is to say that someone still cares about you.
As someone said below, this guide is not really good, normally the go to is the guide made by Dreamworld. There they show better clips of their personalities and performances, and also that guide shows a bit of every title track and some Bsides. In this guide the clips are super random for their personalities, and the performance clips don't really show their their wide range, seems like the person making the guide doesn't know much about what parts are more vocally demanding in a song. I appreciate the effort in making the guide, but this isn't it in my opinion. Also if you wanna know their history you should react to Dreamctcher dodging disbandment

Just a suggestion.. the guide you watched has incorrect and outdated information. I recommend the 2021/2022 Ultimate Dreamcatcher guide (so much more comprehensive and correct, even though it’s older) and the “This Is…” series on each member by Insomnicsy which gives a really accurate insight into each member’s personality. I think a lot of Insomnia (myself included) are probably screaming at our screens every time wrong info comes up 😂 The info about positions is only officially half correct, they don’t really use English names, and some of the well known unique qualities for each member didn’t really get shown at all.
About Minx era.. the members have had complicated feelings about that time period. For a long time as Dreamcatcher, whenever Minx was brought up their reactions ranged from a bit embarrassed to slightly uncomfortable to full on disgusted. It represented a time of a lot of stress and uncertainty (as they were unsure if they had a future in Kpop after Minx disbanded), and they weren’t thrilled with the bright/sexy/cute concept. Sua and Jiu were mostly good sports about it on camera and could take it all in stride but Siyeon and Dami were always visibly PAINED whenever Minx came up. Handong and Gahyeon (the members added to DC) good naturedly teased them about it (and kind of ironically, they are the two members who probably best suit the concept). With that said, after they got their first win, it was like a lot of the pressure/stress about the past was lifted and they performed Love Shake at their Seoul 2022 Halloween concert. It seemed to be closure for them and they could close the door on that time in a really positive and fun way. It was really heartwarming to see them perform Love Shake then.
It’s hard to emphasise just how much hardship they’ve gone through to new fans sometimes because it’s crazy.. a failed and disbanded group, to a group with a unique concept that is often shunned or ignored by the Korean general public, to winning over international fans, to slowly gaining respect within their industry and building a small but very dedicated local fanbase, to missing out on wins, to winning shows, selling more albums with every comeback and to re-signing their contract after 7 years and being one of the few 3rd Gen girl groups still active while never abandoning their concept! They are truly incredible.

To help you with the names a little:
JiU - [ji-yoo], "ji" like the letter "G", and "yoo" like "you".
SuA - [soo-a], "soo" like in "soup", and "a" in Korean is always the same and is a bit like the sound you make when you are at the dentist and say "AAAAAAH", or like the first sound in "aight" [a-eet].
Siyeon - [she-yon]
Handong - [han-dong], same "a" as in SuA (so not "hen"). "dong" with the "o" like in "go".
Yoohyeon - [yoo-hyon], "yoo" as in "you", and "hyon" is 1 syllable like "don", "on", "won".
Dami - [da-mee], "da" with the same "a" as in SuA (so not as in "damn" or "dawn"), "mee" as in "me", "be", "we".
Gahyeon - [ga-hyon], "ga" with same "a" as in SuA, "hyon" same as in Yoohyeon. So, not "gay-on".
And as a bonus:
Maknae - [mag-ne], "mag" with the same "a" as in SuA, "ne" as in "necro" or "netto". And it means the youngest in the group.

Hi nice reaction, I also want you guys to deep dive or React guide for Nmixx. they are the most talented gen 4 kpop group in terms of vocals and performance and they have a unique musical concept that has not existed in kpop before which they call mixxpop and I would recommend reacting the songs Dash, Run for Roses, Dice, O.O, Tank and Sonar . They recently made a comeback with the mini album Fe304:Break and this is the album of the year for me
