Handong missed both the Scream and Boca comebacks when she was in China. They had one of their choreographers (wearing a mask) take her dance part in the Scream MV. They had expected her back for Scream, but Covid intervened. Of course once she came back she's been performing both of those songs with Jiu giving her some of her lines since their voices are similar. Scream was a big deal for them. They had a big budget for the MV and it's album was their first full album, and it sold really well. That was when the fan base really expanded a lot.
The way your dog was getting hyped up lol To answer your question about Scream...Yes, they started getting more attention from "mainstream" kpop fans during that era. Then, Boca boosted it further with Dami's rap part went viral and making it their most popular song Dreamcatcher can be considered the pioneer of dark concept (at least for girl group). More and more girl groups (especially from smaller companies) debuting with the same concept after their success. The most prominent examples are Pixy and Pinkfantasy. Some girl groups even incorporated rock sound into their comebacks, like Billie and Pinkfantasy
Yea, this about the time that people realize that they're in trouble, lol. For the Minx stuff, you should definitely check it out if you want to. I personally really like their debut song "Why did you come to my home". Their first and only comeback, "Love Shake", isn't really my style of music but I love seeing them do something so different. Some of the members have talked about how they didn't like their Minx time and how difficult it was for Minx to fail and them not know what was going to happen next. With that said, 2022 felt like a year of healing for Dreamcatcher. They got their first ever music show win with Maison and I think that alleviated some of that pressure they've carried around with them since then. They even did an OT7 version of Love Shake at their Halloween concert last year, which was something I never expected to see. They also renewed their contracts with Dreamcatcher Company about a year early. They all discussed it and signed together. DC b-sides are amazing and cover a ton of different genres. Red Sun, the song that Sua choreographed is from their first full album, Dystopia: The Tree of Language. This is the album that Scream is on. New Day's is the song used for Dami's Introduction. She wrote lyrics for that song and it's a b-side on their Dystopia: Road to Utopia mini album. They are definitely chaotic, this is honestly just a small taste of how crazy they can get. Insomnicy has a series called Dreamcatcher being unfiltered idols that goes deeper into how chaotic and "unfiltered" they can get. It starts fairly mild, for them, and escalates pretty quickly. There are 6 parts out currently. As I said before, enjoy the journey. They've got a ton of content.
Thanks Majin! Yeah, I think whether we check out Minx or not will end up depending on whether people want to see it or not, because it looks like there's enough just Dreamcatcher content to keep me occupied for a good long time lol I'll definitely have to watch the "Unfiltered Idols" videos sounds hysterical.
Minx was amazing so I really hope you will check them out. They only have the two music videos but there was at least one more song on the album. I have not heard it in so long I can't remember. Minx deserved better than what happened to them. It's just that Happyface was a 'medium-sized' company that could not hope to compete with the true giants of the entertainment industry in Korea. Minx would have done better if the company had been able to afford better publicity. These ladies have ALWAYS been amazing so the fresh start, the re-brand, the re-debut and addition of Handong and Gahyeon must have been fate. DC is my Ult group so no complaints about the re-debut from over here in the U.S. But I still wish their own country saw them as more than just some outlier on the fringe of the industry, the oddball that everybody seems to like but never really accept...
JiU, Siyeon, Handong, Yoohyeon and Dami can play the piano. Handong knows how to play drums. Dami and Yoohyeon were learning guitar, Siyeon knows a bit of bass and drums from her days as the lead singer of a rock band in school. Aside from that JiU, Siyeon and Dami are into composition.
Handong's drum teacher is in an all-girl Korean Rock Band called Rolling Quartz. They are AWESOME! They even covered 'Good Night' a couple of different times. The more recent one actually has a music video that sort of covers the entire Nightmare Arc. :)
Welcome to the Dreamworld! I hope you enjoy your stay, these ladies are amazing on stage and chaotically funny off stage, so yeah there are plenty of stuff to watch, have fun!
There's literally so much content from this group! I've been deep in the fandom since Boca (2020) and still occasionally stumble upon old covers/interview/songs that I haven't seen before! Welcome to the fandom! Loved this reaction by the way :)
I should add that this is where you go for Dreamcatcher compilations showcasing their personalities www.youtube.com/@insomnicsy A lot of the material in the guide came from her channel.
Thank you for reacting to the guide! It's impossible to not fall in love with them! Dami is more reserved, but she always take good care of the members and adds chaos as well. At first, we thought she was shy but in recent interviews she said she was worried how people would think of her and how she should behave as an idol but she realise she just have to be herself so she is more confortable. Also, I think their company gives them a lot of freedom compared to others enterprise on kpop industry. In their second album "Apocalypse: Save Us" each of them has a solo song and they were totally free to lyrics and composind, they were really in charge of everything in their solo songs and I think it's so cool because when I heard them, I immediately thought that the solo song fits so well each member talent and personality. Also, their b-sides are just amazing! They have a lot of special clips and self-made MV's for their b-sides. I really recommend watching "Dreamcatcher's Mind" because it's so funny! And "The World of Dreamcatcher" it's really good! After you watch it, you can watch the comparison with the original drama. Also, what adorable dog omg!!!!
@@SylverReacts Dreamcatcher Mind is awesome (ONLY ten episodes, not nearly long enough for me!) but I will give a Tears Warning for Episode Six. I am not sure just how much of an emotional person you are yet, so I think giving warning is fair. That episode deals with some pretty heavy stuff, potentially triggering for some people. The rest of the episodes are a lot of fun and Episode Six does have it's own amount of fun, too. No spoilers, just the Kleenex Warning...maybe have some water nearby as well... :)
Welcome to the dreamworld...again! Haha yes you have a lot to see / listen to but it's always a pleasure to see someone discover my Ult group 🤘😎 Can't Wait for your next video 🔥 PS: you have an adorable dog ❤️
Just found out abt your channel and reaction. Love your reaction ! cant wait for you to discover their b-sides and more more special clips. Welcome to the Dreamworld !
44:15 They always sing live on stage but they don’t play instruments. Oh… maybe some dance performances didn’t. If you like the band performance, I suggest you the ‘Mayday’ special clip. Dreamcatcher sang live with a band who were formed by their fans. There’s a girl band in South Korea called ‘ Rolling Quartz’. They r not very popular but very talented in playing instruments and singing live. They covered Dreamcatcher’s ‘Goodnight’ and released on UA-cam and Spotify officially 👍
They don't perform on instruments, but some of them do know how to play some (to very various degrees). For example, there's a video clip somewhere of Siyeon playing piano. Several others also said they learned some instruments in school. And since you mentioned Rolling Quartz, their drummer Youngeun was (dunno if still is) teaching Dongie drums.
13:44 That is a B Side :D :D, Many of the songs under the member intro are B-sides :D Red Sun is just one of THOSE Special Clips for a B-Side that slap crazy hard. Like 7:54 and 17:49, 8:03 , from 6:51 audio, from 16:22 the audio, 18:45 audio, 26:26 Audio, 27:46, 28:13, 31:55, 54:32 Those timestamps are all B-Sides and so many great ones are not even there or were released after the guide. Their discography is just nuts. Yes, all members have solo songs. Most bridges are done by JiU but yes, Handong is getting more and more. First few years she was still a bit adjusting to Korea and she has also missed a year, but she is absolutely killing it. The guide is not precise on Handong and Youth with you, she was there but even after eliminated she got stuck due to Covid, that is the reason it took a full year for her to get back. 33:33 Check out the Top right corner, all used songs are listed there. That timestamp points to the song of Dami, composed and written by herself.
I found them just after Boca in Sep 2020. My first 5 mvs when I was exploring- Boca, scream, Deja Vu (Kings raid mobile game.. and should have been the first win), You and 1 and Piri. Those 5 mvs and a guide or two is all it took for me to become an Insomnia. I later had gone and watched Dyatopia in order of release. I have watched Nifhtmare in order of release and in an order that goes- fly high, Chase me, good night, you and I, what, Piri, breaking out. I find that I find my bias and bias wreckers quick- DC is probably the only group where I have 2 biases… Handong did sneak up in my and it me very hard when she came back with Odd Eye as her self confidence, vocals and confidence in those vocals and stage presence. I alway say that the Handong that came back from China is not the same that left because if the increase in confidence. The woman is not Wrecker of wreckers. I love all their voices, but Dongie- I love her tone soo much, probably my second after Siyeon. All the songs from Dyatopia 1 and 2 (Scream and Boca) albums are amazing, but when you add Handong’s vocals the songs are complete. Thanks to Save Us album all the members have solos that they wrote, composed and or arranged, until then Siyeon and Dong had official solo releases and Dami had a solo track or two that she wrote released as special clips- Once upon a time and Butterfly. SuA does not loose cleopatra game and she was the last one standing when they did a game that involved the Tonic Solfa scale. The members have said that SuA is the high note queen. SuA once did Siyeon’s Boca end high note flawlessly. I read somewhere that she stopped rapping and focused on vocals because she did not like her rap style ( not sure how accurate that reason for the change is). Dami was the only one rapping during Fly High, You and I, What until Gahyeon made her rap debut in Piri. Though it seems we have not been getting much raper Gahyeon as of late. I want some more SuA and Gahyeon rapping to go along with Main Rapper Dami. Siyeon came in second in v-1 (a commotion show for main vocalists) to a member of WJSN that got 1st. Siyeon put her own rock spin to Overdose and surprised many of the voters. Siyeon can sing anything, i firmly believe that she and DC as a group or individual members could do any cover or genre and kill it. DC are not only the queens of b-sides but also queens of covers- once they do a cover the song belongs to them. All 7 members can sing, rap, dance and visuals. Yoohyeon could be considered secret second main vocal while SuA could be considered a secret main vocal. All of the members now all have witting credits, Dami, JiU, Siyeon and Yoohyeon with the most writing, composing credits on album b-sides and a few titles. Jiu- bunny… adorable SuA- crow tit, small Siyeon- wolf, fierce.. the stage presence and wolf eyes/intense gaze Handong- cat, independent, playful Yoohyeon- puppy, clumsy, lovable, smart Dami- panda, loves bears, calm (mostly) Gahyeon- fox, smart, her smile, face expressions The group is a mix of Extroverts and Introverts and no one has the same western zodiac. Kim’s- Jiu, SuA, Yoohyeon and honorary Handong Lees- Siyeon, Dami, Gahyeon Unnie line- Jiu, SuA, Siyeon. SuSiJi/SingJiBo.. fake makne line.. Makane line- Handong (honorary.. middle child), Yoohyeon, Dami, Gahyeon Weekly Idol, Idol Radio, After School Club.. no one can contain their chaos- DC are unapologetic in who they are and that draws many to them along side their personalities and killer talent. When your groups concept and titles are rock then you need to have strong stage presence to draw in viewing for all members- Makane included. Before Mamamoo, Monsta X and DreamCatcher the only KPop groups I primarily listened to TVXQ (the 5 member version from when I was in high school), BoA, Big Bang and 2NE1.
to complete the handong information... she went to china for youth with you,.. but stayed there for a long time because of covid restrictions. she just wasnt allowed to leave china
gahyeon seems like more mature, and the other member are agree with that 😅 but on the nightmare era especially chase me, good night and fly high, she have a maknae presence imo ✨

That's cool that they incorporated her in the choreo & line distribution even while she wasn't there.
The sincere oh no! when you realize how deep the black hole that Dreamcatcher is getting you in is, is so relatable!
Lmao I totally just got to a point where I realized oh this is going to be a huge part of my life now huh
Gahyeon definitely doesn’t give off Maknae vibes. From what I’ve heard she passed the audition for all 3 big company’s. Glad she picked DCC.
She’s great, she gives off mischievous vibes
The way your dog was getting hyped up lol
To answer your question about Scream...Yes, they started getting more attention from "mainstream" kpop fans during that era. Then, Boca boosted it further with Dami's rap part went viral and making it their most popular song

Welcome to the Dreamworld bro. Now you're stuck here with the rest of us. 😂, 🤘
Happy to be stuck 🫡🤘
The Sacrifices of MINX ,
Becomes the Oath of the Eternal Legendary Dreamcatcher ,
Never To give up on the Dream .

I plan to!

Thank you! I'm looking forward to all of my time in Dreamworld!
Oh, no, the very deep Rabbit-hole you are falling down! But don't worry, you are in good company, right alongside the rest of the fandom... :D
I’m not looking to crawl out of it anytime soon 😂
