  • FREEZING RAIN EDITION!
Covers lane conditions on Earnscliffe, Terrebonne, Fielding, Girouard, and Clanranald. Today's report also includes cycling conditions on the Decarie Service Road and Rue Draper.
Unlike the sidewalks, the road surfaces were well salted and for the most part quite easy to bike on. As always, studded tires are a must since there was still plenty of residual ice.
We saw many pedestrians fall on the icy sidewalks, before resorting to walking on the roads as an understandable last resort.
    Here's a quick summary:
    - Earnscliffe: partial snow coverage of the bike lane, with good traction in the left portion of the lane
    - Terrebonne: crunchy ice between Girouard and Old Orchard; moderate slush along Western sections.
    - Fielding: partiall cleared, moderate slush.
    - Girouard: partially cleared between Terrebonne and CSL.
    - Clanranald: partial snow coverage, good traction in the left portion of the lane.
The temperature was up to -3°C during this morning's report.
Cyclists are using studded tires and riding in compliance with all traffic laws. If you do choose to ride, please respect your limits and wear a helmet regardless of the conditions.
SAFETY NOTICE: Video footage is recorded by an experienced adult cyclist wearing a helmet and complying with applicable traffic laws. Some situations involve higher risk due to compromises and/or deficiencies in road design and motorist conduct. Always comply with all road safety laws and wear a helmet when cycling. If a situation is outside your comfort zone, consider briefly dismounting and walking on the sidewalk until conditions improve. Talk to your local elected officials about any safety concerns and what they can do to improve conditions for cyclists.
