Gukesh look like Wolverine
Early in the tournament Judit Polgar predicted Gukesh would win during the commentary.😮
oh cool, really enjoy Judith's commentary, always trying to attack :D
Wow! What was the reason she gave?
@@flytoheights1 the 3 indians concerted to make sure their leader wins. They plunged or drawed against him to give him free points.
@@ericastier1646
It's human nature to being happy when their beliefs fails.
@@ericastier1646 so you are saying fabi/nepo/hikaru also drawn against him in all 6 games to give him advantage too?? Delusional much??!!😂😂😂😂
So, guys, what did you do when you were 17 years old? Played the world championship final in chess? Nah, me neither.
Doing school Assignments?
When I was 17, I joined University to study Doctor of Medicine.
I was farming leeches in Devon. Selling them to the NHS. And I was going to school.
I was doing elementary school leveled Spanish 2 in high school. If I take an additional Spanish class at community college, that would be playing at the World Championships for me.
I was sitting in my mom's basement playing with my poop.
The thing to keep in mind is at the highest levels of chess, NOBODY peaks at age 17. If he follows the arc of most chess players, he's got 6-7 years to get better. K&K are dramatic examples of players who entered the candidates tournament as very good player, and emerged as world beaters, and they were both over 20. I don't even think Gukesh has reached the "getting better every round" level, like Fischer and the Ks.
My condolences to Ding Liren.
Ding has beaten gukesh both times in their classical encounters. Guki might crack under the pressure. But let's hope he wins the championship 🏆
You are joking
Ding will not be big chilling
@@mikecroke6078bing chilling
@@anilbista7445 doesn't matter. It was before. Gukesh was under pressure a lot in this tournament against the big guns but he didn't break (except for alireza game). Ding is in awful form. The competition will be fun to watch. Anyone's game!
If a Gukesh win can get Carlsen back into the candidates next year it will be amazing.
I feel truly blessed to have been able to witness this tournament. I may not have gotten the results I had hoped for but this has been incredible to watch. History in the making folks
gay af
Carlsen where are you? You said you got bored from Nepo and Fabi, you wanted young prodigy in world match. So now you got him.
He comes back next year. Maybe. Who knows.
And Chess Odin will torch all comers in 2025.
lol Slow your roll there big guy. Let the kid win a fake title first.
Magnus is alireza fanboy. Others aren't prodigy enough for him.
He is trying to sleep at night...but due to electric shock by Gukesh, he can not sleep at night.😢
Here is the kicker: with all these young talents, pragg, vidit, dubov, thousands of others, just being insane kids as they are, knocking out 1000s of online blitz games, driving oldschoolers like Kramnik crazy, just in general dominating chess with active training, no wonder the crown champions of chess face doom, BUT............. Gukesh doesnt play online........ GUKESH. DOES. NOT. PLAY. CHESS. ONLINE. What the hell is going on??!!
Vidit and dubov are almost 30 years old.
@@PollyPetropolishahaha very true…Except Dubov looks about 14. 😂
The next gen of chess has arrived, Alireza just missed the cutoff
He plays online now,,, I think
Definitely not like other youngsters
@@bradmodd7856 I don't think so he is just 20
Magnus said Gukesh probably would not do well in the candidates tourney. hehe
He said he could do poorly or very well.
@@456death654he said he sees no chances for indians. So i am not sure where is too good part in seeing no chances.
@@parthsavyasachi9348 ?? is that just Magnus?? mos indian grandmaster also said Indians have very less chance of winning. and nobody not even any indians predicted Gukesh would win, some who thought indians had chance were only thinking of Pragg only big personality to say Gukesh will win is JUDIT POLGAR- Greatest women chesss player to ever born and by farr margin and one of the greatest chess legend of all time
@@Fe-ironman i never claimed he was the only one to say such thing.
I corrected the part where a commenter was suggesting that magnus also said he might do good too. Which didn't happen.
Anyway there is another great player who predicted gukesh will win. His name is hans niemann 😁
So polger is in good company.
Headline is a bit confusing. Why the chess world is in a state of shock ? I do not think so. Gukesh, who had scored 9/11 in Chess Olympiad and won gold medal on board one is a well known chess player with impressive pedigree. Chess world would be in a state of Shock if someone like say Abasov , with very little past achievements and very low rating vis a vis other candidates won the tournament.
This person gets it
Was still a pretty heavy underdog to Fabi Ian and Hikaru tho. Very few of us saw a scenario where one of those 3 didn’t win it
You are doing exceptionally well, EPIC. Keep up the good work. 😊
Thanks alton appreciate it!
Fabi blew his chance
Fabi blew like 8 chances in one game.
@@thetimebinder he was under immense time pressure, not to mention it was the last round. So it is understandable.
Meanwhile none of us will ever be that close
“It’s not like diarrhea getting nappy” - lmao. That’s some of the best commentary ever.
Literally read this comment when he was saying that lol
Just amazing Tourney!
Everyone was rooting for that Hikaru money. Nobodys heard of ol Gukesh
Vidit did it
@@davidschneide5422 The new chess meme should be Jerry Seinfeld shaking his fist and screaming 'VIDIT!
@@davidschneide5422every "American"
Hans Niemann too predicted on Chessbase India channel that Gukesh's gonna win 6-7 days ago! Holy Shit!!
Hans Neiman made this prediction after 12th round.
Nice commentary,
kudos to Gukesh !
It was a real joy to watch him play so well 🔥❤️
Ding will surely be dethroned (so to speak) when he meets up with Gukesh
(Nepo’s best chance was against Ding, it’s unlikely that Ian will have that excellent of an opportunity ever again)
And yet…
still… Magnus remains the worlds top chess player (don’t think that’ll be changing anytime soon)
All of these super GM’s create a lasting heartfelt love for the game of chess ♟️ ❤
Mental. Love it. Keep it coming
Is Cagnus Marlsen the cousin of Carlos Magnussen?
I think he meant to say Magnus Carlsson, the guy we all know for being a professional golfer.
Nah that guy’s weird
Cacti Magpie approves this comment
Calcium magnesium 😮
1:55 nah bro the Ian-Fabi game was the one in which the eval bar was blasting everywhere, it wasn't just a tweak there, it was a full on nuclear blast right there.
One look at his Mandark-sized head tells you everything.
Blue-Eyed Gukesh, he is the messiah! Lisan al Gaib 😅
He's not the Messiah. He's a very naughty boy.
weird
Great commentary!
I would say that Gukesh is the clear favourite in the championship. Ding Liren is maybe not within top 10 nowadays. Except for Magnus I hold Gukesh and Abdusattorov as the best in the world right now. And many more youngsters are in progress!
Ding is #7
Gukesh is #6
@@artknows9868 Yes but I didn’t mean the ranking. I doubt that Ding would have been among the top five in the candidates tournament. Ding has really struggled since he became world champion.
@@Pertali yeah, his mental health is not the best but the championship is a little far. let's see if he recovers or not
Rankings can be deceptive. Anyway, i had felt the candidates tournament would have been even more interesting if it had Nodirbek in it. He and Gukesh are the two best players in the world presently, apart from Carlsen.
Always the highlight of my day when you upload keep it up man
I appreciate it glad you’re enjoying!
0:38 yeah. I expect everyone here has already watched Levy.
The backdraft from Magnus exiting the world championship title!
Cagnus Marlene is proud after this game
What's the percentage of games on grandmaster level that end with draw, with only kings remaining on the board at the end?
I got no clue sorry! Probably not overly high
They don’t play it out until only kings remain
At 4:08 if Hikaru would have gone qd3 defending the bishop from the rook and threatening checkmate... what would have happened?
Either g6 to defend against mate or nf6 blocking the bishop and uncovering the black queen.
At 7:22 Hikaru missed Bxa5, getting a pawn, and either a rook trade or a free knight.
What an ending. Wow
Little Mac would be proud. Those who know, know.🎉🎉
What net flix documentary on the QG
or series I should say sorry, the one that was released in 2020, fiction, with Beth Harmon
@@epicchess2021 ah right, I thought I missed something new out
Cagnus Marlsen's book :D
At 7:03 he should've exchanged the bishop for the knight by checking the King.
Iove the hilarious poofy pompadours common among the chess elite. MY BRAIN AND HAIR ARE BOTH VERY BIG! 🤣🤣🤣
The well known Cagnus Marlsen
at 9:56 why didnt he take the bishop?
Did he say Cagnus Marlsen😮
Calling queens Gambit a documentary and magnus carlsen as cagnus marlsen 😂😂😂
Whoops yeah documentary slip of tongue lol
The new *WC.
Let's go Ding Liren.
'Nuff said.
RIP to all those people who are getting anxiety and not able to digest Gukesh winning fide 2024. Especially self proclaimed elite players of chess... RIP💀 😂😂😂
Thanks!
Thanks a lot very kind really appreciate it!
I think at 5:10 White Queen should take black pawn. If Black Queen captures White Queen, bishop can recappture. White has free pawn in A file.
They'd be in more shock if Gukesh played the Drake Opening
When I was 17, I could barely grow a mustache.
Queen's gambit is not really documentary, unless that was ironic 😂
Oh yeah wrong word lol no just me being stupid
That doesn't really count as full blooded, in comparison to the other game. Nepo vs Fabi. But ya Gukesh did what was required of him in this game. Nakamura failed to create a single moment of danger.
Cagnus Marlsen nice spoonerism.
Great channel!
Thank you!
1:23 “CAGNUS MARLSON” ?! 🤷🏻🤷🏻♂️😂
How to feel underachieved
Sorry i don't understand the title. Why in shock? I didn't see nothing from the other world
He was a pretty big underdog !
Nice cover image. Not many 17 year olds make for such a convincing magician.
Netflix made a documentary on the queen's gambit opening?
Drama series* soz
Caruana had +4 and +5 several times during his game against Nepo. What happened? Nerves? Exhausted after 13 games? Caruana played excellent during 2023 and now this? I hope Caruana will participate in the next Candidates.
Carlsen had written him off where where is he now
He has good Beard @ 17
Gukesh is his first name, yes? You are calling him Dommaraju Gukesh but the rankings put Gukesh as his first name. Congrats to Gukesh. I think he has a good chance to beat Ding.
In some countries they put last names first and first names last...
Yeah I’ve been doing a mix I hear ppl say both ways tbf very confusing
He is from Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Unlike other regions Tamils use father's name as surname, Dommaraju is his father's name, same as Pragg using Rameshbabu his father's name.
Many people from south India have only one name including myself. Thus Gukesh is his name and his father's name is Dommaraju. There is no family or surname. Also similar is the case with Vishy. Anand is his name while Viswanathan is his father's name.
Gukesh is his first name ....Domaraju is his last name...hope i solve the confusion
And after a 5 hour old game Gukesh managed to draw, hikaru couldn't win..!
The newer generation has access to stronger teachers thanks mostly to A.I. Though congrats on being one of the best human players.
Queens gambit is not a documentary, it is a fabulous fictional series.
2:07 "These guys fart too good". Grow up, I tell you.
You have a problem.
It's sad that Hikaru never got a chance at the world championship. Isn't he good enough? Or does he not try hard enough?
Idk ! Plenty good players missed out over the years tbf
You need better recording equipment, find out what Levy and Agadmator use.
Oh like the mic and cam?
@@epicchess2021 I don't know, but what you're using now, to me at least, produces an annoying echo.
Imagine how strong is gukesh A
😂
But it wasn't a great game though. It was a run of the mill draw. The Fabiano vs Nepo match was though. That was a rollercoaster.
Playing for a Draw at that level tends to yield a Draw. Poor Fabi, he had shots. I still wish the Russian would have resigned.
It was not a run of the mill draw. It was tense game where hikaru was testing and probing Gukesh but Gukesh kept his cool under pressure anfd played the exactly precise moves. Just because its a draw doesnt make it boring. Gukesh has played amazing chess throughout the tournament.
haha: 1:23: Cagnes Marlsen!!
Nobodys in shock. Stop clickbaiting
USA vs USSR ❎
India vs China ✅
🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶 holy smokes new Cold War era?
I used to think I was badass because I was only 17 during my first year of college
Subject of the video MUST be changed
ding dong ching king pin.
netflix documentory lol no it was drama
It's fitting. Ding will sweep the floor with this guy
ding chilling
"The chess world is in a state of shock" is unnecessary hyperbole. Most informed commentators did think Nepo or Caruana were most likely to win and the 3 young Indians and Firouzja were not quite ready yet (next time!), but while Gukesh's win was a surprise it was not a shock. It became clear from early on that this would be a closely fought candidates and Gukesh was always in the mix. He now has an excellent chance of becoming the youngest ever world champion as Ding Liren looks very vulnerable.
I agree hyperbole but I don’t agree unnecessary sorry!
17 years old my ass, he's at least 23
Lol
Search on google then 😐
Hahaha!
poop and diahorrea lovely to listen to that while eating
Sorry lol
Shame. I was rooting for Hikaru, but pretty cool how Gukesh catapulted himself into the top. I do wish that world chess champion was a faster format though. This heavy prep chess is dull.
You should play some Indian bollywood music whenever an Indian player is shown 😂
As an Indian, I say - please don't. Too cheesy.
Nice to see a game going to the wire. We need more of that. Especially in blitz and the likes. Giving up when the opponent has less than 20 seconds on the clock, shouldn’t be allowed.
Two matches in a row that Hikaru messed up the moved order. And that destroyed his winning chances. I doubt he'll get another shot at the title.
My condolences to Ding Liren
let's be honest, we all know the winner of this tournament is the new world champion. This probably is the truth that is truly haunting Fabi at the moment.
Yeah that’s the thing
No shock - Gukesh deserves it with 9 points. Just accept that!
1:20 Who's book?
why? Gukesh is a 2700+ GM 🤷🏿♂️
Was a serious underdog
@@epicchess2021 abasov was the underdog 😅🙆🏿♂️
@@divinebeing1024 yeah but Gukesh also an underdog to a lesser extent than Abasov. Can be more than one underdog! And top dogs were Fabi, Nepo and Caruana, one of them was expected to win, not the 17 year old!
Magnisium Calcium is still the Goat. So the World Chess Title is fake in my pov , no matter who wins.
It was really depressing to watch live after Hikaru played such a drawish opening. He should have just played e4!
Watch his recap and he'll explain
@@boffo63 I did see it, I understand why he played a different opening move since he'd played e4 all tournament, but I'm not convinced it was the right decision. Either way, his early moves after d4 nailed the door shut on any chances to win unless Gukesh made a big mistake.
@@boffo63 theres no justifying how drawish his moves were... why such a high level player would do that in a must win game is a mystery

Looking at that scoreboard : only Hikaru managed to win against one of the Big 4 : against Fabiano! All other games between the top 4 were draws!
Spare a thought for Vidit. He scored three wins against top four seeds in the tournament, only to lose to lower seeds.
@@atulbesra822 Yes he definately put his mark on the tournament.
