For the first time in 3 years of being a subscriber I finally solved "a pause the video" and the fact I did it In a Fischer game is the greatest feeling ever!!❤
I thought it would be a Queen sacrifice but I found the wrong square to sacrifice it and probably for the wrong reason thinking if Queen took knight the pawn would promote but of course that makes no sense since black has a Queen and Rook defending 8th rank but in chess puzzles there is such a move where Queen gives itself up to promote pawn I know what the move is now of course very clever deflection tactic😊♟️
Yes it also makes me Marvel at how talented players were back in the pre engine days it can not be understated and should be included in the argument when discussing the GOAT
@@michaelmassaro4375 I'm very sure you could make a argument for them. But truly I think Magnus sheer dominance and ability to win positions nobody else would/accept a draw puts him over the edge.... I mean the guy could literally be defending the world title had he not got bored... But id always hear out the argument 🤷
Very nice 😄... Benko also one of very few who defended the great Bobby more than just once, a very strong player in his time. Nevertheless very gracious relinquishing his spot to Bobby.
True a Fischer game so refreshing Any game Agadmator covers is great Magnus as well other you tubers show Magnus games to the tilt and a bit too much in my opinion which is why Agad is de Best he does not dwell on any sole player when there is always a lot going on in the Chess world
@@michaelmassaro4375Totally agree. Magnus content is over saturated and honestly boring because he always wins, or gets off easy with a draw. I only watch if he loses. Probably the reason I’m kinda stuck @1500 elo
The Bobbie Fischer Saga from Agadmator is one of the most enjoyable pieces of entertainment I’ve ever had the pleasure of viewing. Thanks once again, it’s aging like fine wine.
U.S. Chess. Hall of Fame. Inducted 1993. Born in France but raised in Hungary, Pal Benko earned the title of Hungarian Chess Champions at the age of 20. Pal Benko was a Hungarian-American grandmaster and two-time candidate for the world championship
Fischer got eight wins out of nine decisive games he played in that tournament. Gets only topped by that one U.S. championship in 1964 where he won every game. Like a wrecking ball, absolutely incredible.
Outside of Benko and Reshevsky, no one else was really world class. It's not like now when the top 10 Americans are top 100 or top 150 in the world. Of course, Bobby was already Bobby so it's not like he wasn't capable of running through top 10 players in the world like butter. However the patzers he was mostly facing were easy pickings. The Byrne Brothers couldn't beat teenage Bobby; they weren't beating or drawing Bobby in his 20s.
Thanks for sharing this. We needed something to get out of the heartbreaking stuffs (and joyful) stuffs of yesterday. I'm an Indian, and I'm still heartbroken for especially for Fabi, Nepo saying "I'm sorry" and Fabi replying "it's my fault". - man , truly heartbreaking, thanks for shifting my mind somewhere else
After the FIDE candidates 2024 there was nothing to watch, so I started the Bobby Fischer saga again, and here Agad posting a new Fisher game. Agad, you are the best in the business. Thank you from a untrained chess enthusiast.
Bobby Fischer is the GOAT. Today is the day of the engine. None of the Super GM's today could have held a candle to Fischer, in his prime. Candidates was a whole lot different back them.
Thank you for fulfilling my childhood dream of having "chess on TV" to watch historical and current chess. I love the sagas, the almost live coverage, and these occasional great games.
I was watching several games of Fischer yesterday in your channel (Palma de Mallorca interzonal tournament) and today you post another game of Fischer. So good!
It's funny that Antonio says long time subscribers to the channel probably even remember this game from 7 years ago. I can't remember any of the blitz games I played today, how am I going to remember a game that I watched 6 years ago?
If you ever visit Washington Square park on a Saturday, you will find a retired FM who is 100 years old , they call him Doc , he was friends with Fischer and Benko and you can hear wonderful stories
We relied on newspapers and frequent visits to chess clubs to be up to date with the chess world; this happened when I was a teenager so I remember all the drama around chess; those were great times, and the only good thing about technology nowadays is we could play with people all over the world, but nothing beat OTB matches, it was more challenging, less cheating and better chess players 😯
When I play myself I play at 144 FPS. This has helped me get valuable insights about the intent behind each move better.✌️I have a 100% win record after doing this.
Just based on the tournament standings, it looks like an exciting chess era. Larry Evans is in the middle of the pack with 4 wins, 5 losses, and only 2 draws. Even Fischer has more losses than draws. Very aggressive era
19:03 In this position, Rg6 is fun. Blacki must either set his knight on fire or push pawns and lose them. In a short time, white can freeze or capture all of them and then black will be forced to move the knight and lose it.
How can a day end without Bobby’s chess?! ❤️ If it wouldn’t have been for his mental condition, he would have been always rated higher than Carlsen or any chess player for that reason
When I saw Duncan Suttles at the bottom of the standings, I asked myself how could this be, as Duncan is Canadian (he's 78 and retired from competitive chess). After a visit to Wikipedia, I discovered he was born in San Francisco, and moved with his family to Canada when he was eight. Turns out he has dual U.S./Canada citizenship, and that fact (plus his performance at the time) qualified to play in this particular edition of the U.S. Championship. He is Canada's second-ever GM, after Abe Yanofsky.
#suggestion Lisa Lane, a U.S. women's chess prodigy in the 60s and 70s, died recently. She had a rather remarkable life, both in and out of chess. May I suggest a video doing a retrospective on her life, her contribution to women's chess today, and one of her games?
#suggestion There's an online PDF of the January 1966 Chess Life magazine that covers this event. Several grainy black-and-white photos are printed, and from those I'm making a comparison with the photo agadmator showed. These are best guesses. It appears the man on the left is an event photographer. Behind Fischer (and just to his left): Seems to be Robert Byrne Second from right: William Addison Far right: Samuel Reshevsky
If I remember correctly you had posted a Video to his birthday with No One dismantles the Sicilian like Bobby Fischer. But you can post as much Fischer Games as you want, cause no one makes such good chess videos like you Antonio ;)
Fischer was the greatest chess player. Period! Not only was he the most gifted natural player ever, without him, these guys today wouldn’t be making the big money that they are making. I’m talking the elite players. For example, when Spassky won the world championship in 1969 he made up whopping $2500. It was Fischer, who made it possible for the world “elite” players to make big money playing this game.
