"Cotton-Eyed Joe" (also known as "Cotton-Eye Joe") (Roud 942) is a traditional American country folk song popular at various times throughout the United States and Canada, although today it is most commonly associated with the American South. The song is mostly identified with the 1994 Rednex version, which became popular worldwide. The Rednex version was a world wide hit. (And they are also from Sweden). Thats way Tommy did this cover. Every swede knows this song
Tommy is absolutely amazing and plays at least 11 instruments, his sense of humor is incredible 😂😂😂And yes he can play and sing absolutely everything ❤ Its air drums and they are just like real drums so he is playing the drums in this video. 😊❤ Thanks for a great reaction ❤
Dear ladies, I absolutely, completely agree with you. Tommy can make a masterpiece out of anything. Even from a cafe menu, even from a food catalog. He will sing and play so that no one will remain indifferent. Tommy is an absolute talent, I completely agree that Tommy can do everything. (Well, almost everything). By the way, Tommy plays 11 instruments: acoustic guitar, bass guitar, electric guitar, keyboards, keytar, banjo, drums, flute, accordion, harmonica and jaw harp. Thank you for this wonderful review.
Hey Ladies again! I just remembered that Tommy Johansson plays Banjo in the video "Take Me Home Country Roads". In the opening of Tommy Johansson's video "Take Me Home Country Roads", he lights a candle and you see a man in a framed photograph. I just want to set the facts straight... As many have believed and commented on that particular sequence in Tommy's video and believed that Tommy lights the candles because it is a relative who has died! Why he does it in his video is quite simple because in the movie Kingsmen and the character "Merlin" is singing "Take Me Home Country Roads" when he exposes himself to the guards and step out of his hiding place. He then sings that song, just before blowing himself up from a landmine. I have had to explain so many times in comments that NO it is not because of personal sadness that Tommy lights the candles, but for a completely different "Comedic" reason connected to the Kingsmen movie. Enough about this. Just wanted to clear that up for you, in case you want to watch that video.😊😍👍
Great reaction, I'm a fan of Tommy J now and yes I remember learning the dance in grade school. It was more like a square dance but I love this version. Beautiful house by the way Kathy.
Yes Donna there was a dance that everyone did to Cotton Eye Joe. I'm 64 and I actually still remember the steps. I lived in Texas at the time that I learnt it many years ago. I'm sure that you can find it being done online. Keep up the good work girls!
👋Hey Ladies! Greetings from your followers and subscribers in Sweden. 🤩❤Tommy wears the red Cowboy hat with white fringes in the video "Take Me Home Country Roads" By John Denver. That video came in connection a while ago to this "Cotton Eye Joe" that you just watched and listened to. Please do your rendition of Tommy Johansson when he does "Take Me Home Country Roads" next time please. 🙏🙏👍😉
Kathy and Donna because of your reactions that I've recently become a fan of Tommy j which you had had his reactions for such a long time. And Kathy and Donna as long as you been reacting to Tommy j don't you think his hair resembles Lulu's hair ? My mother Cathy thinks so what you two think? My mother Cathy knew Donna knew this song too lol. Wintersun Alex in Texas ❄️♥️♥️♥️
Tommy Johansson can play 12 different instruments. Regarding the song Cotton Eye Joe. "Cotton Eye Joe" is a song by Swedish Eurodance group Rednex, released in August 1994 by Jive and Zomba as the first single from their debut studio album.
My cousin used to go to all the professional football and hockey games here and they'd play the actual Rednex song and he would be on the big screens dancing up and down the stadium and arena stairs section to section, and ripping off his jersey, even when it was well below zero. At a wedding they played the song and with some prompting he did his "show" and surprisingly his mom, at 76!!, jumped up and met him step for step. Must be a gene thing LOL!
*"Cotton Eye Joe" is a song by Swedish Eurodance group Rednex, released in August 1994 by Jive and Zomba as the first single from their debut studio album (released in 1995). Based on the traditional American folk song "Cotton-Eyed Joe", it combines the group's style with traditional American instruments such as banjos and fiddles. The song was written by Janne Ericsson, Örjan Öban Öberg and Pat Reiniz, and produced by Reiniz. The vocal verses are performed by Annika Ljungberg, while the "Cotton Eye Joe" chorus is sung by Göran Danielsson, who never appears in the music video for the song, directed by Stefan Berg. It was a number one hit in at least eleven countries, and reached numbers 25 and 23 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and Cash Box Top 100. In 2002, "Cotton Eye Joe" was remixed in a new dance version, and was released on Rednex's first greatest hits album, The Best of the West (2002).* ⬅🎸💿🎵🔊 *"Cotton-Eyed Joe" (also known as "Cotton-Eye Joe") (Roud 942) is a traditional American country folk song popular at various times throughout the United States and Canada, although today it is most commonly associated with the American South. Did you know that the 1994 release cover from Rednex of Cotton Eye Joe ..that The band Rednex is a Swedish band including the leadsinger himself ...so Tommy isn't the first Swede covering this iconic song
Cotten Eye Joe is an old Swedish classic song from the Swedish band Rednex, thats probably why he choose to do it. The drum sticks is wifi sticks, so he plays the drums for real in the video. You really need to check out Tommys band Majestica and thier new song. A new beginning from the upcoming album. This is music when Tommy writes his own songs and not covers. ua-cam.com/video/aqW7wHNCc9M/v-deo.html
There is a device that is available that works like a “air drum kit “ . It senses the drumsticks and gives out a corresponding sound. If you noticed he had some pedals that he was using and that works like the kick drum and the high hat. One of the reasons why this “instrument “ is not more popular might be that if anyone watch you play this thing through a window they probably would think that you lost your mind completely and that it would be safest to put you in a stray jacket.😂😂😂
I’ve heard several versions of this song, some are good some not. I have never heard this one but I love it. Miss Kathy, a violin and a fiddle are the same instrument, according to Lindsey Stirling, the difference is how you play it. One of my favorite versions of this song is a dubstep style of it.
There is actually 1 more Swedish singer that maybe is even more famous here in Sweden for his enormous voice that you should listen to. Check out Chris Kläfford and Mary did you know. Chris has also participated on AGT.

A Swedish band released a version of Cotton eyed Joe 1994 and I'm pretty sure Tommy's using their version as a base for his version.
🤓🇸🇪
Rednex....🇸🇪
The very LAST thing i never thought I'd hear is a metal version of this song of all things !! Fun take on it.
Love this song Donna and I don't remember the dance either as it's been to many decades🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm old enough to remember when this was still a great square-dancing jig. But, this is really fun.
In 2009, Johansson was Karaoke Music Champion in Sweden.
Wow

Swedish song covered by a Swedish teddy bear ❤
This is one of America's older songs. Davy Crockett was said to have played it to entertain the defenders of the Alamo on his fiddle

As popular as this song and dance is, I despise it.
