Thanks for subscribing. I just put a video of the Valley of Death fight on our list of projects, but it won't be anytime soon. Sorry, but it's at the bottom of a "long" list. Be sure to check out our Website, GettysburgAnimated.com, to get credentials to be able to explore the entire battlefield for all three days of the Battle.

@@gettysburg-fullyanimated it’s okay I understand and this is just an idea but can you do the two skirmishes that took place on June 26th and they both did not take part on the battlefield but one was close to the battlefield and these two skirmishes involved many units the first skirmish happened on the western side of Gettysburg and it took place right where the chambersburg pike crosses marsh creek and in this skirmish the union troops consisted of the 26th Pennsylvania emergency militia under colonel William W Jennings and his unit was made up of men from the central part of Pennsylvania and a company made up of 56 students from what is now Gettysburg college joining Jennings in this skirmish were two cavalry units one Captain Samuel J Randall’s first troop Philadelphia city cavalry and the other unit was a locally raised unit known as bells cavalry which was under captain Robert bell facing them was the 35th battalion of Virginia cavalry under Elijah V White and he had 250 troopers along with white there was also Brigadier General John Brown Gordon’s brigade of Georgians and after this skirmish the 26th Pennsylvania emergency militia was on its way to Harrisburg however on its way to Harrisburg they encountered the 17th Virginia cavalry and the rest of Confederate general Jubal Early’s division at a hill known as Bayly’s hill which is near the intersection of the goldenville and table rock roads however after the skirmish that took place to the west of Gettysburg captain bell dismissed his men near the Hanover roads crossing of rock creek and bell declared every men for himself and ordered the men to their homes after being dismissed privates George Washington Sandoe and William lightener rode the low land along rock creek to reach the Baltimore pike however at about 4 pm unseen behind the scrub trees that lined the Baltimore pike a few of whites cavalry made their way down the pike after capturing all of the local peoples horses on cemetery hill and as they made their way down the pike they saw the mounted privates and ordered them to surrender then Sandoe pulled out his revolver and fired at the southerners as lightener escaped and made it to safety however Sandoes horse balked at the fence that lighteners horse had jumped and then Sandoe was shot in the head becoming the first federal casualty at Gettysburg even though the battle properly would not start for another few days and among the men of bells cavalry was my 3rd great grand uncle Private William Henry Weikert son of my 4th great grandparents Jacob weikert and Sarah Ickes Weikert and older brother of my 3rd great grandfather Emanuel Weikert who at the time when he turned 96 he was the oldest surviving civil war veteran in Adams County Pennsylvania.

I've never understood why Rode's Division deployed along what I believe was called Long Lane and the Fair Ground Road back then didn't hit the right flank of the Ohio 8th Regiment and that of NY 136th Regiment chasing them away so that they couldn't rake the exposed left flank of the Davis-Pettigrew-Archer advance (can't remember which second command officers led Archer and Pettigrew's brigades) towards South Cemetery Hill. Again, we see once again Lee has failed to ensure he's got the right man/men tasked with ensuring simple things like that doesn't happen. As soon as elements of Gibbon's Division (I think or did the Ohio 8th belong to Hays Division?) started taking up perpendicular dispositions to that of the approaching Confederate advance Rodes Division should have shredded its exposed right flank until it got the hint and scurried back to the east side of Emmitsburg Road. Not that it could have altered the outcome. The Confederate's last chance for victory at Gettysburg occurred the previous evening when the Rebel attack-in-echelon was suddenly derailed.

Thanks for the comment. You make some good observations. Take note here, all of our videos are "extracted" from a massive animation of the ENTIRE Battlefield and Battle. You can use the animation to explore for yourself what took place both before and after the time period depicted in this video. Log in to GettysburgAnimated.com and request login credentials to use the APP. Harry Pfanz's book "Gettysburg - The SecondDay" is an excellent narrative that addresses many of the points that you have made.
