I know i have already commented before but after watching this again I can't help but notice how well they parkour from one object to another in the blink of an eye! After jumping such distance you would think they would get a sliver in their paw from the wood 🪵 splinters. Anazing critters!🥰👍❤️❤️
Sure buddy, until they start destroying your property, chewing all your wires, etc, then we'll see how much you really want around. Don't be fooled by the fluffy tail, they are still pest, nothing different from a rat.
MJ H No, just like there are different species of squirrels, there are also variety’s of a certain type of squirrel. They can also be dark grey, and white. If you ever see a white squirrel you might want to check the eyes and any exposed undercoat though, they could possibly be an albino and not a variation of grey squirrels at all.
Rofl 🤣 Holy marauding squirrys 🐿 Batman 💥 😜! Messin w the fine furniture. Distance is deceiving w the cam eh. Lv #18, overshot the runway. Thx Scott 🤣🐦
I think this is the initation ceremoni. If he can jump and reach the feeder he is adult. If not, training a week, and try again... 😀Great video, thank you
That's incredible, they are little buggers aren't they 😂 I guess the birds will get used to the squirrels eventually. I live in an apartment building on the fifth floor with no balcony and about 10 minutes ago a squirrel jumped onto my window screen! Frightened the life out of my cat. I've seen them a few times now clinging to the brickwork. Thank you for showing these videos! 🙏🏻
@@mjh5437 They will climb right up a brick wall!! I had a brick house in the past and always hung feeders on the perimeter of my covered patio. When the tray bird feeder under the tree was empty, a squirrel would climb right up the wall to the kitchen window, and either try to get in through the screen or would start squawking like crazy if the window wasn't open until I went out and filled the tray. No joke!! I hung a hummingbird feeder out there as well for many years, and in spring when they arrived, they would "announce" their arrival by hovering outside the large picture window next to the kitchen table until I hung the feeder on the patio. That always used to amaze me - every spring they would do it. I guess if they lived for their five years, in time they had an idea where their food came from.
Hi. Our Daisy Girl Scouts are participating in project squirrel today . I researched squirrels of New York where we live and am excited to show them your video
Really enjoy your videos❣️‼️❣️‼️don’t watch the Europe or Africa videos because I only want to learn and see our Native American birds.thanks for your cool bird sanctuary, I also have a small sanctuary here in Kansas.keep up the great work in saving our birds this very cold winter.🌻😁⭐️🥇🇺🇸
It is 11 feet from my roof to the end of my tree with feeder - they do that with ease - should watch Squirrel Obstacle Course from PBS and Red Squirrel Extreem Assault Course from BBC - they really show the power of these little guy!
You can put 6 inch galvanized steel stove pipe around your trees where they like to launch, they can’t climb or hold on to the slick pipe. It’s about $14 for each 5 foot pipe. It works, i use it to protect my bird feeder.
Squirrels are basically the bullies of backyards lol. People call pigeons the "rats of the sky" but squirrels might as well be the rats of the suburbs. On the one hand, it's frustrating how they eat the birdseed and scare away the birds, on the other they are kinda cute and you gotta admire their ingenuity.
Me: "Aw, an amazing mix of birds all peacefully enjoying some free snacks...." *instant mayhem from squirrel flying in from a random direction* "HEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GUYS! It's me, Sammy the squirrel, back for more of those free snacks!" Bye bye birds. :(
I once had a rain barrel half full of water, and discovered two drowned squirrels, always wondered what ever happened to them when I used the water for my plants.
I think the squirls are having fun freaking out the birds. They don't really care about the food, they want to scare the birds or see how many times it'll take to break the feeders.
such a wild video! Did you end up doing some heavy-duty reinforcing on that green feeder which was being used as a "landing pad" for the squirrel to transfer to the box feeder, or just continually putting those metal rods back through the section they came out of?
Luckily, the feeder is easy to put back together. So I just continually put those metal rods back through the section they came out of. Thanks for watching!
Hello Scott, this is totally off topic from video but I was wanting to ask you some questions please. The big green metal feeder can you set it just to feed one starling at a time? Also is it hard for the birds to sling seed all out on the ground? Thanks 😊
The green feeder is weight triggered so a starling would be too heavy for that feeder. It is for smaller birds. And you cant set it, it is set and thats all you can do. And yes it is hard for the birds to sling seed on the ground which is a good thing because with this feeder there is less mess. Thanks for watching.
Can you put a super large transparent plastic baffle over that blue feeder? They wouldn't be able to get a grip on it and would fall right off. I'll try to post a link to what I'm talking about
Yes, I have thought about it, but it would probalby look ugly, and there are so many other trees around that they could just climb those and jump over!
Can we not find some wild birds that attack squirrels. I thought the Blue Jays around my bird feeder would go at the squirrels because they are super feisty. But they just sit in the trees waiting squawking away until squirrels leave.
Obviously, you need to cut two trees down and get rid of that unfortunately placed blue feeder!! LOL. Nope, obviously not. I've got the same problem in South Carolina. I just raise the window and cuss at the squirrels. Well, it works, and nothing else has!!
And if you look at the hanging green tray in the back ground, that is filled with sunflower specifically for the squirrels. They have plenty of food to eat.
Hey Cindy. Make sure to check out my live cameras, my squirrels eat better than most humans! There is food for them on the ground and a green tray feeder hung in the trees specifically for them. I try to keep them out of my bird feeders since they scare away the birds.
number 16 was impressive
Amazing little guys. Such agility!
Squirrels are so smart!
There are only 2 constants in life.
Squirrels getting into bird feeders, and humans who think that they can stop the first constant.
Nothing can stop a ninja squirrel, great athlets. It's always a pleasure to see their jump, and sometimes misses. Thanks for this video.
The misses are my favorite part!

Even though they're pests at the feeders, I can't help but admire their agility.
They are genius's! No matter what I do, give the squirrel a day or two and he will figure out how to beat it!
They are literally crashing the party. LOL But I must confess...I adore Squirrels.
gotta love squirrels! one of natures acrobats. wish we had more around us.

Squirrels are very entertaining, and enjoyed seeing all your birds too!
Wow,I`ve never seen a black squirrel before!!
They from Detroit
XD awesome ! These squirrels are daredevils ! ^^'
Gotta love how everyone scatters when these guys show up
Scott, you've got some ninja squirrels
thanks for all the birding information
Especially liked # 5, the black squirrel from the tree on the right. Was the only time I've ever seen that. Thanks for posting this clip !
Hey Paul, it took a long time to get a black squirrel jumping. It seems the gray ones did it much more often.
@@BirdWatchingHQ Are the black ones some kind of freak mutation?

haha, they're just havin fun. There's obviously lots of food for them below if they're hungry.
Dem mischievous fricks. I like how they broke the cyan feeder a few times, and also failed some jumps, lol.

They can jump about 12 ft and will take advantage of any feeder under a tree’s drip line. They’re squirrelly, but very smart.
