I'm not a huge Melvin's fan, I can't lie, but I love listening to Buzz's takes. He's awesome. I appreciate that he isn't a dick about the inevitable, endless Cobain inquiries. People have an insatiable appetite for Nirvana/Kurt Cobain insight (myself included). It's awesome hearing him on all rock topics, and his appreciation for Judy Garland and Tina Turner is badass.
@@GodyP Yeah, it's sad but but true, and that part is unfortunate. I like Buzz Osborne as an artist and musician, but I think he's kidding himself when he claims he's not jealous of what happened to Nirvana in 1991. He was/is jealous, and the reason why is a total no brainer. KC was Osborne's little brother in some ways, his protege, even, at least early on. So to go from being the king of Montesano and having this guy hauling your gear around looking up to you, to suddenly becoming the biggest rockstar in the entire world and mentioned right alongside your lifelong icons...that would be tough. It would be complicated to even process that, and I think most people would just have to emotionally detach from the situation, which Osborne did, I think. He claims he would never want that lifestyle, etcetera, but I mean...c'mon man. Lol. I just don't buy that. I'm sure he got into music to be barely scraping by still touring at with an AARP card in front of 100 fans. One can both want and not want something simultaneously, we are not simply binary "1's and 0's" emotional beings. Things are often complex. All that said, I still love Buzz Osborne, and think he's totally brilliant. Truly original and a total trailblazer. I love his music, too, some of it. I also think he loves Kurt Cobain in a familial kind of way, and is actually quite protective over Cobain's legacy and image, while also probably being disappointed at how it turned out for his friend. People are complicated and things are never quite black and white. So he's a bit jealous of his old friend Kurt Cobain, it happens, I think he also loves and respects Kurt Cobain. To make it that far from Aberdeen and Montesano..Weatherwax High.. and to see someone impact the whole world knowing full-well that their life would have been the usual small-town bullshit otherwise, it's wild... has to take years to digest. Buzz has the whole story, he knows just what a longshot it was for those goons to do what they did. Surely he cannot help but to marvel at it from time to time, probably in the quiet evenings when artistic folk are prone to unwanted flights of introspection and reflecting. Might also still be processing all of that shit little by little, would take a lifetime for most, especially if you're the Type-A, rebellious kinda person that Buzz is. Anyway, just my opinions and thoughts, who knows. I've seen Osborne also have genuine moments where you can tell all the Nirvana shit fucks with him quite a bit. He stood up for Cobain during the Montage of Heck fiasco. Plus, Buzz is not some musical casualty who exists purely to reflect on Nirvana. Buzz Osborne is a musical pioneer, and without him there is no way you get Nirvana. No way. He's done a lot of incredible projects, especially his acoustic stuff.
