"The only reason they call it Hippie Hill is because I bought a hill... and my name is Hippie." Well, that explains a lot.

Living in small tribes. That's what all the world was like 1000-2000 years ago.

Dreck so? It was a lot better.

    • @Frobbl
      @Frobbl 7 років тому +5

      I didn't say it wasn't better. I agree 100% it was "better."
Living in huge cities seeing thousands of strangers every single day working from morning till evening to BUY food and a house, both things people could get for free if they really wanted to, is against the humans nature.
Humans are meant to live in small tribes/communities having their own independence. Modern civilization is against humanities nature and will eventually collapse because of that.

@borntoprep I've done exactly that for 18months living by myself in a tent in the Australian bush... it's not as hard as you think.... you learn to plan ahead by understanding nature... I would wake up...collect firewood ...start a fire and only then would i be able to make a coffee...if I didn't check weather and no wood collected I would go without my coffee ( that only happened once...I'm a quick learner)...I also heated water like this for nice warm showers from a 20lt bucket hoisted above me...carried those same buckets uphill from my backup water supply....i spent 3 weeks in torrential rain climbing into a damp sleeping bag in the middle of winter.. I even had my 4 and 6yo kids 2 days per week the entire time
Fuck the system that tells me I have to work, pay rent and struggle to put food on the table because I need to save face...when I lived in town my rent was $350 p/w...electricity was around $75 p/.. $0 rent in my tent..and without all the overheads i was able to live very comfortably while I worked only a few days a week....which i chose to do....I washed clothes in 20ltbuckets...grew food and dealt with naysayers who don't have the vision and ability to thrive outside of a system that does nothing but stress and devour those who play the game. Human beings are more capable than you think...you just have to let go of everything you have learnt and trust yourself and let everyone else doubt...
I spent too many years working like a dog simply handing my money over to corporate theives...
how many people are stuck in towns and cities that are homeless or behind in mortgage repayments...no food for their kids...wondering if they have enough money to get transport to work....depending on a system that has no interest solving it's shortcomings and that has no interest in you as a human being.

@@anaparada7219 Respectfully, I saw absolutely no drug use in this documentary whatsoever, and I doubt it's there. Drug abuse is rampant, on the other hand, in the conventional parts of the country, which has become unlivable for many.
I share your dismay about the cussing, but sadly I hear that everywhere I go, including among preachers. I learned my Bible from a grandmother who swore like a house a-fire, so there's no reason to assume that the children aren't learning about God.
As for the long hair, if you think it's ugly you're free to cut your own hair. You will notice that some of the residents have short hair, even mohawks.
What I'm hearing here are a lot of unfounded assumptions. The reason the Bible says not to judge is that we never have all the facts--only God does. The wise know this and wait for more information. Which you could have had by simply asking the HIll Folk, right here, "Do you use drugs? And where do people stand there on religion?" At least ask before condemning people on mere guesses.

      imeprialsm delvepoes from agressive tribalism.
look at what the Huns did to the romans.
What the Romans did to the indigenous middle and north europeans.

      Its a behavior pattern
      Not a tribe
It is an opinion backed by a religious certainty
Or at least a mindless ignorant believing in order to create supremecy.
"Civilization" started with literature, which according to them indicated superiority from animals and savages.
Unfortunately this objective style of thinking is short sighted and only sees imaginary ideals and mental fabrication instead of contemplating the repercussions of such.
For one you have now mentally segregated your entire species from nature.
Treat the environment we all depend on as resources rather than life.
This supremecy is neither "advanced" or "civilized"
We as the indigenous peoples of earth have been able to sustain our species and our habitat through a worldview of so called "spirituality" for 15million years according to some.
& yet your pathetic western civilization has destroyed the ecosystem in 200 years.
Just pushing forward like a muscle bound idiot.. Wondering why he can't touch his dick

I've been three times around the world and lived in many communities, and this is my understanding... There's a word in the English language called atavism, pigs are remarkable good at it, within just three generations they revert to their ancestral state, and can survive alone in the bush... Those that stay too long in a free, community lifestyle eventually revert back into the family state, and become the community's nemesis, and thus should be expelled. If the land belongs to no one, then no one can stay in perpetuity. It must be seen as a 'university of life' course and not a life-long, secure, 'hide-away' marijuana financed future. Participation for individuals or families in alternative communities should have a timeframe not exceeding five years. It's the grunt psychology and hierarchy of the ones that never leave, that kill such communities. To enforce this of course requires fortitude and muscle, and alternative communities never have this, thus they always fail. This is my personal experience.

    • @emeltuesday867
      @emeltuesday867 5 років тому +2

Its true that Homo sapiens are family/small group animals so maintaining a cohesive group over 15 or 20 or so people is difficult. But some there are many intentional communities that are still thriving. And they do so by having autonomous “family” ( a family can be any committed small group) groups connected to a larger community and land base. This mimics our essential genetic makeup as a species. Several Small bands that make up a larger tribal identity.
Civilizations always collapse because they are hierarchical and seek “more” .
It is a sign of health to seek authentic community. And reject that which is based on getting more.

If your community has achieved peace then realize that is something on the inside that has nothing to do with what's on the outside. It can not be taken away but if your not careful and allow anger, hate, or any other sin into you heart you will give away your peace and be left with evil. Be true to Gods word. Matthew 22:34-40 The Greatest Commandment
34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
    Footnotes:
    a. Matthew 22:37 Deut. 6:5
    b. Matthew 22:39 Lev. 19:18

I just found this awesome poster flyer from my dads stuff, he passed in October. He was a Vietnam vet his brother was drafted but my father took his place cause his brother had a kid on the way. Wish he hadn't, ANYWAY he was a hippie as well. He was proud of being both. Anyway the flyer is from the "Inner-dimensional transitional transmission Commission of Agusta GA. Limited Love In at Clark Hill...any old heads remember this, know what year it was? I love it as it is in pristine condition, going to get it framed.

I feel like I’m watching a Bon Iver music video. Half of these young people are probably fund trust kids just posing as poor until they get bored and go back to their republican Neighborhoods they grew up in.
