Finally got to visit the magic aread in April 88. I attempted to runaway in 67, when i was living in Texas. Looking back , I think my Higher Power was watching me because had i made it, i might not be here. I miss the Freedom and the communtiy gathering. I lived out my Hippie dreams mainly in LA during the 80's. We were having Love In's and it was Groovy. Today i am an aging Hippie with 21 years clean and sober. I am ashamed of parts of my generation that gave up and sold out. They use to want to change the world. Now they want to buy it. SICK
Randy R ...I love reading the stories...congrats on your sobriety, and your awesome in my book...I envy all that was part of the 60's..I myself am a 70's baby..71to be exact...feel like I M reincarnated from that era....in my soul
In this fucked up corporate ruled world of today,is there anyone out there willing to try the hippie way of life again? For the coming generations I would certainly hope so.
Be careful, because most 'hippies' were trying to get "into" the System..their way..., not destroy it. In fact, after the Funeral of Summer of Love in SF, the "yuppies" popped up, sterile disco club music hit on and.....the rest is history.
hi tony , thanks for this document , I'm a far and passionate of this period especially of the SF sound .. and i hope one day to find something also in italian language. Well, maybe you can help me: is long time that I try to know the name of the place where many artists were photographed (jefferson A, grateful dead, charlatans etc etc ...) is also the background of the cover of "surrealistic pillow" ... the wall with graffiti 5:30. on others picture that I found there was wrote also "Baker street", maybe you know the name of this place thanks again for the video , regards
Tony Bove ...Thanks for the "link", much appreciated!...there is a web sight that goes by the handle of, "PsychedelicMindGarage", that posts a pretty heavy documentary about the Elevators...i'd send it your way, but don't know how...worth the time to watch, if the time comes....thanks again, and Peace!...
rent used to be cheap in california as the video mentioned. greed is ruining the state and country slowly.

Unfortunately, it won't happen again, the whole hippie scene has been demonized and turned into 'terrorism' now.
uh.....no. that way was garbage. good reason why it ended.
Good music
Was there last summer ! Only hippie shops remain...
Can anyone please tell me the name of the song and artist playing at 35secs into this film? Many thanks.
The song is a jam called "Other Miles Jam" by the Flying Other Brothers, of which I was a founding member.
Excellent, many thanks.
Wow must have been incredible!

+Steve St. Germaine Loved them. Roky Erickson was a genius. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roky_Erickson
