When i was in the market for a m and my first m ever after my 550 i was looking at the f10 m5 and a e63 m6 and let me tell you i don’t regret my decision at all i am never getting rid of this beast of a v10
You and I are very similar, I had an 08 E60 550i (6 speed manual) and looking to get my first M car and I think I’ve found it lol. Can’t wait to get my hands on that V10
Awesome video, 4 years ownership and counting over here! Epic car!
Woooo amazing mann !!
My 2004 645Ci conv SMG also rev matches...also best car I have ever owned [ of 135 !!!!!!]
Great video!
Amazing car, I really want to drive one some day. I would recommend doing some "glamshots" of the cars with music at beginning of videos like "thatdudeinblue" used to do. Review could be smoother points and edited cleaner but I cannot criticize when I have never done a video review, you've done some awesome cars on here man, keep it up!
Thanks, I appreciate the feedback.
I think i saw you filming this! was behind you in a wrangler around the hudson valley :)
😀
I owned the 2010 ( last year) M6 for 3 years! Ps. BMW recommends the Castro 10w60 oil.
Love this video! I've had mine for 11 years and it's the most fun car I've ever owned. I have significant upgrades with the best being my Tubi X-Pipe and Rumore Section Three exhaust. It sounds like an F1 car at full chat.
Agree, I recently went for a ride in a Ferrari Testarossa, felt the difference wasn’t that great. That V10 is incredible.
I want a video of the exhaust :)
I crashed my fathers M6 e63 after only have the driverlinces in 5 days😮😮😮😟😟😟 goot baad injures!! Really bad! Flew with ambulance helikopter to the hostpital. Mather life or death situation 4/5-2009. But i SURVIVED!!! Tho with a braindamge for life🫤🫤
S85 V10 one of the best sounding engines ever !!
Absolutely!
Can you tell me what you’re lowered on? It looks very nice
It can comfortably be daily driven or sit at 200 mph on the autobahn. The stability the m6 provides at high speeds is unlike any car I've ever driven. Not to mention the sound. I just sold my stick one, but looking again for another haha
Hmmm… I don’t doubt it. That would be a very interesting test.
I love my manual 6 speed. it's a rare car. I've had it for 4 years. As long as you take care of the throttle body, vanos pump, and rod bearings, it's a beast!
Totally agree!
i had a manual and didnt like it at all,its a transmission from a 545,sold it,now aiming for an smg convertible
I used to have one of these but I'm genuinely curious... how do you take care of the rod bearings?
@@themightinessaftermarket rod bearings, let the engine warm up, thinner oil. Research it.
@@bruhbruh4321i saw a dude saying thicker oil is better for hotter areas would you still recommend thinner oil then?
im 20yrs old and i just got mine! haha got it for 15k in sacramento. 1 of 8900 is pretty fucking awesome i had no idea
Congrats!
How many miles on it for that price. Curious. I’m looking at one now with 90k. But rod bearings were done
@@trainwreck5973 it was at 85k miles when I bought it, not sure if rod bearings were done but I've put another 5k miles and as the engine sounds fine, just gotta warm it up before you drive it and apparently the rod bearings will last a while.
How much heavier is the convertible? 🤔 I'd assume about the same as the m5?
Dope review 🔥🔥🔥 as an owner I appreciate the light all the light on the E63 ! They get a lot of hate😒
Not a bad car, I would add rod bearing replacement into the total purchase price of the car if I got one because it would need to be done anyway.
I have an 08 manual that I’ll be selling soon if anyone is interested. It might be the nicest survivor in the country. 40k miles and very tastefully updated.
Just curious what are you asking?
@@AttheApex The first 50k offer will take it. That’s about what I have in it to modernize it now without adding in any appreciation since I bought it. I’ll make a video when I get some nice weather to put it on offer to at least the people that follow me.
Beautiful car.. I have come very close to pulling the trigger on one..many times. But those maintenance costs are eye watering!
I daily an E63 630i Sport which I have fitted Eibach suspension and 20” alloys… But it doesn’t have the magical V10 sadly..
I bought a 2007 Convertible used in 2010 and had it for 5 years...I had the extended warranty, but I literally had no issues with the car whatsoever (despite the VANOS horror stories). The car was exceptionally well built. I had an E55 AMG at the same time, and I thought the M6's build quality and reliability was way above the AMGs. My only ding on the car, was the V10 sucked fuel like a fat kid loves cake. 11MPG is what you are going to get in the real world. I wish I never sold it, but was going over seas for a couple years, and didn't want it sitting in the garage. The only bad maintenance cost I remember was the oil. It seemed to eat a quart every couple months and it was like $25 bucks a quart. Kind of pisses you off, but not a real deal breaker or anything. Get one...just get an extended warranty as an insurance policy.
@@shawnweed265car is too old to get warranty on it
Any SMG failures or maintenance since you’ve owned it?
Proud owner of an E64 M6. I love my car.
Have you had any problems with it ?
It's exactly what I want, and have wanted since 2006!
What tune is he using. I have a 2007 E63 M6 as well. Running a straight pipe and 4inch diameter cold air intake. Looking for a good tune. Thank
MPOWER Motorsport ECU+SMG tune by sal he’s the co-founder of evolve
Thanks. Where are they located, are a number for them
I own 2 of these s85 gems and will never rid of them.. but the oil thing is due to climate... depends on your climate iv done my homework. trust me you want thicker oil for hotter areas
i’m about to trade my mk6 golf r for a 2006 m6 any tips?
My e63 m6 has got 159,000 Miles, Grey 2006 Model. OEM rod bearings, had the car since 2007.. not a single issue.
But instead of 10w60 I’ve been using 5w50, I drive it daily.
People don’t understand this car, majority treat it as if it’s a Toyota “yeah bro let me hit it hard whilst it’s cold nothing will happen”
This rod bearing thing is too exaggerated, love this car.
(Plus It’s got Long tube catless headers with sprint mufflers)
...are you claiming the rod failures is mainly all down to engine temp ?
@@88boat it’s due to the weight most likely, 60 is too thick.. 50 is perfect and ideal.
The rod bearing issues are MASSIVELY overblown. Car forums on the internet breed paranoia and herd mentality. Tesla
fires are another example.
you could get better V10 sounds, but not at this price range. (LFA/CGT)
That’s a raw ass color
Not sure I follow. Is that a good or bad thing?
the best oil to use is 5w-50? how come the car says to use 10w-60 then?
www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1592340
I'm curious to see the long term use on 5w50 oil. I'll assume it's the Redline brand oil. I know Troy Jeup was recommending the 5w50 for these vehicles.
Yes, I was echoing Troy’s recommendation.
And in terms of #1 even better than having an E63 is having an E64
After 11 years and 300K gave it a second life with an exchange motor. Nothing like this..
How much does it cost to replace rod bearings
Seems like $2,500 on the cheapest level and about $5k at the top.
@@AttheApex Realistically it's 5 grand all day
What’s the year ?
2009 I believe
8900 ever made.. thats wild
Only about 350 manual coupes too.
I'm holding out for one..
i was used BMW almost 30years E39 5seris and E63seris best ever made by BMW
Would love to get one in a manual
Only 701 manuals produced
@@AttheApex and 0 in sight😔😢 lol hopefully I’ll find a stick E63 M6 one day🙏🏽 but until then, my dream of owning one will never change
The SMG is a Manuel gearbox with a semi automated clutch. Shifts faster with less wear and tear on the clutches. Over all the SMG is a cleaner looking design that gives the driver a better overall experience.
@@jonscottcuts I personally feel like you get a better experience of the car if it’s a stick. The fact that you have all that power at your discretion and in full control gives it a better overall feeling and drive. Besides, having the SMG is more maintenance at the end of the day and the manual transmission is actually lighter than the SMG. In my opinion, it’s a win/win when you have the S85 V10 in a 6-Speed manual.
@@rich_forever9485I totally agree. I've driven full manuel trannys all of my life. Never wanted an automatic, ever! I thought I wouldn't like the SMG because of the automated clutch but when I learned how to drive it properly it was so much cleaner and faster than any Manuel I had ever driven. I've owned my beast for 9yrs. Only driven it in automatic mode twice. That was at the beginning. I guess I need to drive a fully manual SMG training to see for sure. That's if I can find 1. Lol!
what exhaust?
JUST 1, NA V10.
yet he rambled on for an entire 6min...if it was a 10hr video of the exhaust note and POV driving, he still wouldnt need say much
You're giving the V10 too many props.....yes, great exhaust note but as to power, pathetic torque numbers and it doesn't make peak HP until almost redline!
Dumb. Over 100 hp per liter in a naturally aspirated production motor back in 2006 was a pretty big feat and you’re going to sacrifice torque for less displacement and revs no matter what.
@@Bimmer_Bill Dumb?
What's dumb, the fact that the V10 doesn't make power until high in the RPM band. The power isn't linear in delivery....oh but wait, maybe it has something to do with the curb wt. of over 5200lbs. I own a 2010, it's luxurious and good looking with a hell of an exhaust note but super car it isn't!
@@Pantera-wu9ty you obviously don’t own one or have never experienced a turbocharged car as comparison. The S85 is much more linear than let’s say a b58 (which I also own) or a 2jz for example. Comparing it to a big block American v8 with 50% more displacement or a roots type supercharged engine and yes it won’t feel as linear since it’s not in a 2,500 lb car with that smaller displacement NA v10 engine. What you fail to realize is that you can pick any smaller displacement high efficiency (greater than 100 hp per liter) engine from any manufacturer and they suffer from a lack of torque too. Sure I wish the M6 was 2,500 lbs but the reality is even supercars are north of 3,000 nowadays. To solve that issue you simply gear it with a lower (higher numerically) ring and pinion. The fact is that this car was designed to go 200 mph from the factory on the autobahnua-cam.com/video/xbNeInZf2jM/v-deo.html, which it will do with the euro spec speed limiter removed. It’s not a drag racer. Low end torque is not as important in that scenario. That is what you don’t understand and why you’re opinion is misguided. Gear it like a 5.0 mustang for example and it will accelerate like one. But a mustang will never go over 200 mph without a ton more horsepower. Oh and the M6 coupe weighs 3,770 lbs, not 5,200 lbs. so you might want to retract that. Please do your homework next time.
“v10 na”
The way you said imola made me upset
