idra thought all his drones were dead, at his natrual, because of the drop, but they were all stacked at the gas, not the best reason to quit, but thats what I heard he said

little late to the party, but he stated in an interview iirc that mma was taking a 4th or 5th base, not knowing it was a desperation gold. Seeing that, he figured he was super far behind. He calls GG once he sees the cc.

My two cents:
at somepoint in the game he got harrassed at his natural; after pulling off the drones he must've miss-clicked them back on gas then minerals.
During that last massive attack he got dropped at his natural, he looked back and saw 1 drone mining at his minerals, so he thought they all got killed and gg'd.
When in fact they were all stacked on the gas. You can see all the drones unstack between 1:17 and 2:20.

+Random Ashe Well that was his perspectivve, but even then he hadn't lost as his muta count outsnowballed the Marine count, and he was about to pick up a lot of free tanks. Most likely he only looked at the Mutas at the top side and didn't see all of his Mutas below that.

At first when I saw that, I thought it was MMA GGing. Then I looked closer and saw that it was Idra. Despite knowing Idra's tendency to GG early, I thought there must have been something wrong. But when the casters reacted as they did, I was flummoxed. I still want to know why Idra did that. That was not by any possible means an unwinnable game for him. Far from it.

I don't care that this comment is 10 years, I'm gonna answer anyway! The reason IdrA did this is because of his opinion on balance. He deemed ZvT essentially unfair to the point where even with a big advantage, he thought it was unwinnable. So he gg'ed out because he was annoyed at the matchup.

@nudz4u This map isn't used in the Korean leagues, so MMA was unfamiliar with the fact that the rocks on that expansion are actually placed next to the minerals and not where the CC should go. He was in a rush and accidentally clicked on the Orbital Command, thinking that's where the rocks should be. He realized the mistake a little too late...

@langhalsen You might be right about the drone part but I think another reason why Idra GG is because when he saw MMA's CC is gone (the one MMA destroyed) and is building a new one, he assumed that the old CC have fly to other base and Idra can't handle with those too many base by just a few mutalisk.

BW and SC2 are simply light years ahead of other RTS games in terms of balance and skill ceiling. It's an ever evolving meta game that compares to the great games of the world (like Chess). Not really comparable, and hard to understand without having lived through the golden years of BW. These games are boundless in their potential to give the edge to people who practise.

Idra had accidentally rallied an entire base worth of drones onto a vespine geyser 0:57 , when he saw this whilst defending the drop he spotted all the wasted mining time and assumed he must be too far behind to come back.

He still had enough drones to continue mining and fuel his production. Idra assumed he lost a lot of them but if you rewatch 1:17-1:18, you can see he put most of them into vespene gas by accident. Plus, Idra still had that gold expansion while MMA did not and that makes a huge difference.

As my memory recalls IdrA explained that he didnt know MMA destroyed his own 3rd and once IdrA saw that MMA was building a CC at the gold he thought that it was MMA's 4th base. If that was true IdrA would be behind and thus he gg'd.
What IdrA didnt know was that the gold base was actually his 3rd but super late.

@garethmagis he misclicked trying to attack the rocks but clicked on orbital. You can see the rocks block the gold mining path. You need to click to the left or right of the radar dish on the orbital.
