this game probably has the largest car collection of any game ever and 70% of them are basically the same car
2,000 cars - only 300 are premium, the other 1,700 are ported up models from GT4. 1,400 of the 2,000 cars are Nissan Skylines and Mazda Miatas.

Yes. Remember that GT6 came out for the PS3 after the PS4 was already out. By that time, developers really, really understood all the tricks to squeeze as much as possible from the PS3 hardware
…and that Polyphony is basically an extension of the PlayStation brand created back in the 90s to start the Gran Turismo franchise, so if anyone could make the most of the hardware, it’s them.

@@stefanforrer2573 they put very little effort in singleplayer campaign, which combined with chase the rabbit scenarios in every race made singleplayer mode unplayable. Same goes for GT5
I got a lotta great memories from this game, launching my BMW GT3 at the Nurburgring GP chicane, you know the one. Rolling my Nissan R89C at Le Mans, 21 times. Many cars got launched at Trial Mountain. Front-flipping hatchbacks at Bathurst. Okay, so I just liked making cars fly when I was younger. I did get quite good at the game though, and I had a great group of online friends, I miss them.

GT6 was the game that introduced the SRT Tomahawk and its variants to the series when PD decided to start working on GT-VISION.

Yeah.. It really does. I've been playing it a ton for the last couple of months regardless, but it has this weird eerie feeling, like an abandoned shopping mall.
@@alexanderstormdahl2562 that’s what’s keeping me away from going back and playing it again. Once I finished the campaign mode all I did was tunes and seasonal events. You had like 5 time trials followed by 1-2 drift trials and instead of wasting 1mil credits on VGT cars in Sport, you could win them for free in the seasonal events. Hopefully PD brings this back to GT7. 🙏

oh man, my favorite racing game to this day, mainly because of nostalgia (which is funny because im not nostalgic for pole position, my first racing game), but criminally underrated game, nowhere neer perfect, but in some ways, thats perfect in itself
By the time you form an attachment to your car, it's time to get something else, and you can't even use it again for any other races. Thats my issue with these GT games.
GT really needs to revamp the single player. I know GT Sport was an online focused game though. Some kind of progression like Project Cars 2. Work your way up the ranks from Karts through Clio cup all the way up to single seater formula and LMP cars. Also not starting last against much slower AIs. Maybe have a one shot qualifying lap
@@cooper512 I would like that, but I like the way it is in GT4, except for the fact you can't use your favorite cars more than 2 or 3 times. If they just added a bunch more early-game races it'd kind of solve the problem without having to revamp everything
GT Sport is good at forming attachments to the cars.
That’s a fair point, but when you go online, it’s a totally different story. We all had our cars that we were known for. My main weapon of choice was the little Isuzu Bellett, it’s narrow, so it makes the track seem wider, and it was a rocket ship over the top of the mountain at Bathurst, where we did most of our races.

@@2JZDestroyer Bruh...I accidentally wiped my PS3 and had to reinstall the game about 2 years ago. It was downloading patches and installing everything for nearly 12 hours! 12 HOURS! I will never delete this off my PS3 just for the fear of having to go through this process again.

@@2JZDestroyer The install section was so broken I couldn't even get past the profile creation screen, I legit sent GT6 back and got a copy of GT5 XL Edition instead, so worth it.

Try the RUF BTR 86 in GT6 on Sports Hard tyres and all driver aids turned off. Quite a handful ......

@@McPlayer8t Yeah, we'd have to go back over a decade to start finding games that had to be great straight out of the box, but it didn't stop me from logging an obscene amount of miles in GT6. 😅
Me too, I probably spent more time in GT6 than almost any other game. I had an awesome group of online friends, which definitely helped. I was never the best, but we always had a good laugh, and that’s what counts.
I always remember one race in particular, it was 5 laps of Bathurst in low powered cars with no boost and realistic slipstream. Normally we turned those up for closer racing. We had an almost full lobby of 15 cars, and after I had my trademark great launch off the line (the only advantage I had really), I got spun off at turn 1. What followed was honestly one of the most satisfying drives I’ve had in a racing game. I made no mistakes (for once) and climbed my way back up to 7th from last. It felt like a win honestly. It was those occasional good races that kept me interested in the game for so long. I just hope we can get the gang back together in GT7, but I don’t know how likely that is. Sorry, I went on a bit of a ramble there. 😂 i’m just getting nostalgic, I miss those days.

To be fair, you can't play Gran Turismo on a PC.
@@rBennich Technically you can, via emulation, but you can't play Sport as there is no well-developed PS4 emulator (yet)
@@Housesider I meant current GT. GT4 runs better on pc than on anything else. On that note, i wish they could make emulators that compiles self-executables for roms that contains all the settings, so you deal with the emulator once, and then treat it like a steam game. And then you open the executable with an editor to make changes to settings. That would be nice.

Recently picked up a copy of gt6 and honestly couldn't quite believe just how appalling the driving in this game was. Boggles the mind how such terrible game was so popular... I'm guessing gt fanboys.
It's cool for car collecting and doing some time trials... but always found the driving quite on the opposite side of exciting, the sounds and AI are unacceptable for a PS3 gen game and play a big role in making it boring, camera is bad too. It's definitely overrated imo but I like the progression system and buying new cars.
