i just buy this lcd i cant wait to test it!
very well . and how can I use sd slot of this LCD ? which AUX or EXP pins musb be used on MKS Gen_L v1.0 ?
Excellent video, but does it matter which way you plug the filament sensor in to the touchscreen? Thanks in advance for your help.
I've yet to explore the pins on the tft LCD, but it will matter depending on the sensor type. You can view it like an endstop switch.
So you definitely need to run 12vdc to operate? I was looking at the schematics and documentation and thought it would get that from the Aux plug?
If memory serves me correctly, the LCD would not power up. But there maybe a jumper to change this. When I made the tutorial it was the simplest way to demonstrate. I'm thinking about doing another tutorial in the coming months, but I'll need to research deeper. Still need to show the networking option. Let me know if you find a way to get 5v to work.
Im really grateful for your videos. My tronxy x5s building gets a lot easier.
You're welcome.
You're Welcome.
I just bought the Gen L board and the MKS 3.2. Nothing seems to work at all. The screen has all of the icons but stepper Motors and fan don't budge. I don't know if I should just send it all back at this point but I will keep plugging at it. Thanks for the video though, it shows me that I should be able to make it work without having to mess with any firmware on the boards. Mine doesn't do anything so that is helpful. I would be suspicious of the stepper drivers I put in there but the fan doesn't operate either. Thanks again.
Well if it makes you feel any better, my first TFT28 didn't work either, seems like they have set-up instruction issues or faulty manufacturing. But in my case I tried to setup with RAMPS 1.4
Great tutorial. Could you please make a video on using the power resume function on TFT 28 with a MKS Gen L? Thanks
Thank you. Sure.
I have this available on a local store for dirt cheap. I was wondering if it is compatible with a MKS Robin e3. Cant find any answer elsewhere
If you have an aux1 ribbon cable port, I don't see why not. I don't own a Robin e3 btw.
Hello Edward,
I have a question: I use a tft32_L v4.0 touchscreen but the weird thing is that it only turns on when I connect my laptop through usb onto the mks gen L morherboard.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Sounds like the problem is related to the board and how it's power with 5 volts. I'll experiment with my TFT 32 and see what I can find. Could you tell me a little about your configuration? What type of printer board are you using? Which auxiliary port are you connected? Which firmware are you using?
@@EdwardBraiman first of all thank you for your quick response!
I just found out my gen l board shorted somehow. The heatbed just kept heating up for some reason and the stepper motors didn't respond either.
I watched your videos a couple of times and connected everything correctly, wel I don't know for sure now obviously...
Do you have thermal runaway enable for both hotend and heat bed in Marlin firmware? I recommend it be enable to prevent accidental overheating.
@@EdwardBraiman I am not that well known with marlin yet.
I will look into it but could you please take a look at my board and tell me if its possible to safe it?

Short and nice unlike yr other naggy videos:)
i got a question Edward do this screen work with 24 volts power supply? i mean my geeetech a 10 with an mks gen l board work with a 24 volt power supply???
I think it can run off a 5v power supply on aux-1. You can always consult the datasheet.
@@EdwardBraiman thanks Edward :)
You're welcome.
i just plug my new tft 28 and no need for external power supply in my case i run it in 5 volt mode and wow!! this screen im in love with!
Excellent video.
Unfortunately, I did not watch it before performing the MKS Gen L setup with my TFT 28 touch screen LCD. As soon as I connected the cables I decided to update the firmware of both of them. The result was that I lost important functions like engine and fan control. Could you help me by making available the firmwares you are using? Thank you very much for making your knowledge available to everyone.
Which firmware are you referring too ? The tft28 or Marlin firmware? They are openly available online. Let me know if the link is missing from the description.
@@EdwardBraiman, thanks for the quick reply. In fact I believe the problem lies in the Marlin. If you want, I made available the problem that happens in a video posted on Facebook. Both the manual feed (0.1, 1 and 10mm) of the X, Y and Z axes as well as the fan control do not work. Once again I thank you very much for the help. Could it help by providing firmwares or even your links?

Hi,
I'm running the same board and the same screen.
When I set up Cura (4.4) to stop at height the printer stops and goes out of the way as supposed to, the problem is that I can't restart the print.
Any idea how can I do that?
Thanks in advance!
Do the mean the z-axis? Cura 4.4 creates the instructions in the form of gcodes to move the printer. Could you explain more about the height way out of the way? I'm not sure I understand the question.
@@EdwardBraiman Thanks for the fast reply.
Basically I want the print to stop and a certain Z-axis height (or layer number).
I set it up on Cura and the printer stops as it should.
After I change the filament or do whatever I want to do I can't find a way to restart the print again. This is the problem I'm facing.
If you see this video he changes the filament and then by a simple click he restarts the print.
ua-cam.com/video/pEbnix5wZP4/v-deo.html
I was also able to do the same with my original printer setup (main board+lcd creen), but with the Gen L+TFT I can't find a way to restart...
Hope I made it clear...
Thanks again.
You can restrict a axis in Marlin firmware on configuration.h.
@@EdwardBraiman I'm not sure I get what you are suggesting....
Why should I restrict the axis?
I just want to restart the print after a pause...
So you're changing filiment and can't restart print?
How do you add custom text/Buttons to the tft?
The configuration.ini file. I might have filename incorrect for *.ini.
Thank you!
I think it is mks_config.txt
But can't find how to add text to a button
I have the same one and the touchscreen doesn’t work after my daughter click on the configuration and tried to do something, i tried doing a reset by pressing the reset bottom and no luck, any idea how to fix it?
Not sure, but maybe reload if it can power up.
Reload the firmware and now is working but , looks bad on the screen, like the old atari screen, im using the classic, tried the other two files and it gives me sd error and stopped the install, so for now im gonna leave it like that cause is usable ut if you can find a fix for it I will appreciate it
I'll look around, but not sure if I can offer much help yet. I might do a tutorial series on this TFT LCD in the coming months. They give very little details for this TFT LCD, so it's takes time.
Edward Braiman thanks, I appreciate it
You're welcome
Can you run it with mks v 1.3
So far I know it works on MKS GEN L v1.0, it's was said it works on RAMPS 1.4, but I was not able to make it work. Currently I do not own a MKS v1.3. I do have a MKS Gen 1.4 and 1.5, but have yet to try. So I guess what I'm saying is I do not know if it will work. Wish I could give you a better answer.
My mks sometimes lose some icons, I can't find the reason
You may need to update the firmware. I've not yet experienced this issue.
Is this procedure the same as for a TFT 32?
I'm still waiting to try a TFT32. They should be similar.
@@EdwardBraiman alright, thanks for the reply! I am about to build my own 3D printer and I will probably choose this board and screen.
I'll be testing it again. It appears to only work so far on MKS Gen L. It might work with MKS Gen 1.4, but need to check.
@@EdwardBraiman can you do a video about the TFT WIFI module and the HLK WIFI module?
I've the WiFi module, just researching a simple way to present.
Wait, it's the TfT that has the filament runout connector and NOT the RAMPS board?
They both can.
@@EdwardBraiman thanks, that's good to know. I'll have to research pinouts for both now.
One has a video under RAMPS 1.4 playlist. I think it's named filament runout. Also I'll be doing another on MKS Gen L version 1.0 soon that's why I posted a video in MKS Gen L playlist on LCD today.
I have a tutorial on how to run cooling fans off servo pins in both MKS Gen L and RAMPS 1.4 that might help.
@@EdwardBraiman ooh cool. Tha KS I'll be looking for it!
Hi edward do this tutorial is applying to skr1.3 too
Not sure I understand the question, but it should work on both SKR 1.3 and SKR 1.4.
Why is so hard to find the correct cables???
The cable actually came with the touch screen LCD when I ordered it. Buying the cables individual is difficult for some reason.
Agree be a market for the correct cables...Like to do a vid same screen to a Gen 1,4???
isn't 5v just fine.? others have posted 5v too
It should be. When I tested back then was unable to get working. With the new MKS TFT32 version 4.0, it works on 5 volts. Also it appears to be working on RAMPS 1.4 for movement and fans.
Just retested and it will work for 5v.
