Thank you very much for your video to teach how to use 3dtouch on MKS Gen_l. 3DTouch is v2.0 now.
You're welcome.
EDward deserve some free board to test i think all the review he did is free ! i think he deserve to have future board to test free!
Thanks, but there tutorials.
@@EdwardBraiman If you are willing to test our MKS products, please contact us. We welcome your any opinions.
Thank you for this. I'm about to do my diy 3d printer with this board with bltouch. Hopefully everything will work out fine.
Keep in mind Marlin firmware for version 2.0.x may have issues. Marlin 1.1.8 should be okay.
Any chance Marlin 2 is working ok now. Just did added this to my gen l 1.0 and having issues with Marlin 2.0.
There's two open issues by me and no updates for development at Marlin firmware. I'll take a look tommorow and see if there is a change.
Right now the 3d touch starts up fine but the plunger stays up / retracted after the self test and the sensor stays red.
@@jospa6880 I got everything running fine. But bltouch is acting up. It does all the bed leveling thing just fine. But when I tried changing the bed level it doesn't seem to compensate with the uneven height of the bed. Need more testingng, I guess.
The easiest video I saw for it ....thank you
You're welcome.
Great tutorial, subscribed.
Thanks.
finally got it to work, thanks
You're welcome.
Unfortunately, from experience, you may end up removing this sensor and replacing it with a genuine BLTouch. I only say this because of repeatability issues with the knockoff sensor. If you begin to experience problems with you first layer consistently, you may have a dodgy sensor. Thanks for the video! Anyone thinking about upgrading to this setup will enjoy it!
True. In my case I don't use either on my printer, because I level surface manually. But to give complete tutorials for subjects of interest, I made the tutorial.
@@EdwardBraiman FWIW, I was a die-hard live level kind of guy too. I just never thought the bed leveling was working. Since tuning up the BLTouch, I can start a print and rarely (if ever) need to monitor the print. My first layers are rock solid and with a good PEI plate, adhesion is supreme!
Only drawback is that it takes time to get right and if bolts loosen you can be back to square one. Doubling hex nut buys time though.
@@EdwardBraiman I did not install the spring mounting system that came with the BLT. I use the Bullseye fan setup (stock fans) and I printed the BL Left mount. I bolted the BLT straight to that bracket (with M3 nylocks) as it's (the bracket) adjustable. I printed the BLT spacer tool from Thingiverse and used that to adjust that bracket to the proper place. Once I understood setting the z-offset, it was smooth sailing. I still do use the adjustment wheels on the bed, but mostly when I am printing something that spans all of the horizontal bed surface. Then I live-level the wheels when my skirt it printing.
Sounds like this method works for you.
Nice job
Thanks for sharing 👍😀
No problem, I'm having issues today with UA-cam CC if anyone asks why my normal CC is not yet available.
another excellent tutorial thanks Edward !:)
El BLTouch debería funcionar a menos que se haya cambiado el firmware de Marlin. Actualmente estoy tratando de convencer a Marlin de que la corrección de errores 2.0.x está rota. Es posible que hayan realizado cambios en Marlin 1.1.9 que no estoy al tanto de que ocurran. Aquí está el error abierto por el mes pasado;
github.com/MarlinFirmware/Marlin/issues/16643
En cuanto al sensor capicitivo, no lo recomiendo ya que la última vez que probé el cableado se derritió y parece inseguro.
Is it possible to use an endstop switch and the 3dtouch/bltouch at the same time? if you spliced the wires together would it cause any issues? I would like to use both just in case as a backup. Please let me know if that would work even if it is not practical.
Sure. Check configuration advanced dot h for dual Endstop.
@@EdwardBraiman thanks
You're welcome.
I have an MKS GEN-L V2.1. Is there a boards.h with this board defined?
I found the correct files. Now I can't find the pin number for Z_MIN_PROBE_PIN I think it is 21 for this board but I would like to confirm this.
I've found the correct files.
Do you have to define which pins to use for the servo pins in marlin?
The tutorial is from before Marlin firmware version 2.0.0, it's very out of date.
@@EdwardBraiman I would think it would keep some type of same pattern? I have a filament sensor is what you say is servo 0 the odd thing is with my filament sensor hooked up it keeps saying triggered no matter what state the filament is not sure what else to do short of moving it to another set of servo pins.
Use the pins file to realign what's triggered
@@EdwardBraiman That's the part im trying to figure out now.. looking at the Pinout D11 is what I have it connected to which should be pin 0
#define FIL_RUNOUT1_PIN FIL_RUNOUT_PIN 0
#else
#undef FIL_RUNOUT_PIN
#undef FIL_RUNOUT1_PIN
#endif
@@EdwardBraiman It seems what I put in has no effect on the pins changing.
Would you know why my boards.h file doesn't have the info to choose my board? I have the MKS gen 1.0 board and their is no listings to choose. The boards.h file is basically empty help??
What version of Marlin firmware are you using? Marlin 1.1.8 thru 2.0.x contain MKS Gen L. Also you can use board_ramps_14_efb as the pins between board match almost 98%.
What problems did you have on version 1.1.9 ? Not working at all, precision, ... ?
It's been a while since, but it now appears to work with 1.1.9 bugfix.
What name is on the arduino port and it gives an error when uploading.
Check cabling and com Port.
1:30 my tevo tornado i got this year does not have those 4 rows
Do you mean pin connector?
@@EdwardBraiman Yes. I just found out mine is the 32bit board
@@EdwardBraiman this is apparently my board calvary-study.blogspot.com/2020/08/my-tevo-board.html
Great. Welcome to the world of 32 bit printing.
@@EdwardBraiman I would of thought 64 bit would of been better?
i use z min for my end stops. can i use z max?
Most use cases you should only use either min or maximum, not both.
[ERROR] Error:!! STOP called because of BLTouch error - restart with M999
hows it an exelent video whhen it doesnt work in practice
The video was made before, Marlin firmware changed.
iv done this to the letter and it doesnt work
Which version of Marlin firmware are you working with?

iv just done a video il send u in 1 sec

thats the error i get when following it to the letter Error:Printer stopped due to errors. Fix the error and use M999 to restart. (Temperature is reset. Set it after restarting)
[ERROR] Error:Printer stopped due to errors. Fix the error and use M999 to restart. (Temperature is reset. Set it after restarting)
This may mean BLtouch connection is loose for black and white wires.
@@EdwardBraiman no possibel
@@EdwardBraiman not possibe
Could you tell me which version of Marlin firmware your using?
@@EdwardBraiman lates version
SHARE FILE 3DTOUCH FOR ME, PLEASE
What's not working?
yes, it is standing only
Which printer board and firmware version are you using? 3d touch requires a lot of pressure to trigger. You may need to use a table top to trigger.
i'm using marlin 1.1.8
What do you see in Pronterface when you check the Endstop status?
Great Video's on the MKS Gen L thank you for sharing. I own a CR-10S im going to use TMC2208 but wanted to know if the LV8729 should be used for the Dual Z axis or it's not worth it. I hear mixed info on this. Any info would be more then I have figured out so far. Thank You for all your MKS GEN L Video's keep them coming. Cheers, Dave
I'm still researching both steppers, so I'm not sure of a good answer yet. You might want to check the datasheet (s).
