    The mighty Wurlitzer blows doors off the others. The warmth, the richness, the depth, it's like having a spinning Leslie without the extra cabinet.

    Ngl, Keyscape has nailed the sound of the Wurlitzer, it really made my mind blow.

  • @TimMcGlynn

    Nothing beats the lushness of the real Wurlitzer, and the Keyscape was closest to it, but for whatever reason, I actually liked the Scarbee better than Keyscape.

  • @andrelindenau3856

    He really pushed the Scarbee, can sound much warmer. Best buy to me, using it since 2011

    Have to admit, I'm pleasantly surprised how well Scarbee acquits itself. I've used that for years. The Keyscape one doesnt surprise me as to how good it is, but the real thing is just bloody glorious.

  • @peterkadarmusic9728

    This was great. Scarbee and Keyscape were the most impressive emulations. I'll join the chorus of comments wanting to see more of these. Rhodes and clavinet would each be a great start but some with analog synths vs emulations would be cool too.

    The soft versions would be closer to the original with different eq settings. They appear to have been created to easier fit within a mix. They're all good, but within a mix it's probably the real one that would need more work done on it to find its space... unless of course it's the upfront, main sound in your track. Nice video.

    I think the midi keyboard is making the velocity too high, I know for a fact this happens with my keylab mk2 on the Arturia rhodes compared to a real Rhodes, just makes it go into that super brittle distorted sound

    • @Arbolitree
      @Arbolitree 2 місяці тому

      This is good advice to pay attention to these factors. I know i'll definitely be extra mindful of those settings next time i try getting the best sound out of keyscape and such.

    I feel like the velocity settings should be changed to match the original.

    I did almost the same test with my dad (keyboard player for 60+ years), but only with keyscape and a real Wurli. I fiddled with the EQ for five minutes with keyscape, and he had a really hard time picking the real wurli out.

  • @briann5001

    Number 3 diffinetly sounded heavy also perhaps because the tactile fill causes the player to play it like the real thing being that it … well is

    My thoughts about these blind comparisons is that it's n9t so important if the experts can recognize the instrument(s) correctly. If they have to think about it, it means they all sound similar enough for any practical purposes (and thus great as well ;))

    That description at 4:30 of the real Wurlitzer being "full of balls" kinda strikes right at the heart of why I don't like a lot of software instruments. The same thing applies to a lot of fake Hammond organ sounds-- there's always a sort of weight to the sound that adding bass with EQ doesn't capture.

    The Logic is terrible. The scarbee and keyscape are very well done. What nobody seems to be mentioning is that the playing was different, more dynamic on the original. Even if the sound is almost identical something about playing the original keybed makes the performance so much nicer

    NI nailed it a long time ago. It would have sounded almost exactly the same as original if the amp/cab/etc... was tweaked.
    The only problem with any piano/EP VST is the latency. I only use them if necessary, but don't enjoy it.

      Obviously there is latency. Forgive me for not typing 'indiscernible latency'.
      A real acoustic piano has latency.
      Hammer time and sound board.
      An electric guitar amp a couple of metres away is around 20ms.
      Point is these days you can get it down to being the same as real world latency.

    Man, next time try Ample Sounds. Theirs are the most authentic I've played. Too many try to be too reedy and bright while anyone who has played a real Wurli will tell you, they are quite dark and rich.

  • @bdjexpresslaw
    @bdjexpresslaw Рік тому +1

    Great idea. Unfortunately, the controller has too light a touch to really compete with the real Wurlitzer, so your playing has significantly more appropriate dynamics on the real deal. If you’d used a weighted hammer action controller, I suspect you’d have really stumped us all. Digital has come a long, long way.
